Listening to it now, and as usual with him, I'm struck by his particular brand of poetic power. This is not heart-on-sleeve Schubert; he's a narrator, speaking about Schubert with a kind voice that, if needed, can command an army.

Bach: Goldberg Variations - Tzimon Barto (piano)

Noticed this from Ragman in the listening room and from the bits I heard think this will be a good find for me.

Ravel: Tzimon Barto

Liszt | Brahms | Lutoslawski:  Tzimon Barto (piano)

Joseph Haydn:  Tzimon Barto (piano)

Jean-Philippe Rameau:  Tzimon Barto (piano)

Tzimon Barto - a new pianist to me just noticed this morning.  So I take a giant leap of faith and jump head first in with these to start.  I only listen to a few seconds here and there but my spidy senses tell me I may like this.   He seems to go his own way and I like this.  Right or wrong (depending on your views) he is making music (through his choice of tempi, shading, phrasing, rhythm etc.) and it isn't the same old cookie cutter big name, speedy race horse, no character, no risk, safe playing.  The experience then is fresh and it is like having a good conversation with someone.  We'll see, I could be severely disappointed too but you never can know until you spend time with them?

Good choice Stevee_S.

My latest fro Amazon/ ZOverstocks:-

Live - Throwing Copper. '80's rock pots-grunge apparently, sounds like other bands I don't know.

First track I didn't like but they rock along quite well, at £2:50 incl, why not take a punt?

Worth every penny.  This album is one of my all time favourites, which was recently re-enforced by seeing her and her fabulously talented band perform much of the album live.

Had all her earlier albums but couldn't really get into them but this hit me straight off. Great album.

I don't do CD any more & as Mrs Mike wanted 25 to complete her Adele collection,  & Ms Adele it seems has not approved a download release, we bought a CD & ripped it.
Personally I'm not a fan & whilst hear her truly outstanding voice,  I prefer a few pre-selected tracks at a time.
The album art face is enough to scare the horses so I have found a more pleasant one to show on the iPad app album art.

These two arrived today bought on the back of hearing a couple of his later albums. Stimulus has Martin Stone on electric guitar which is always a treat. I would heartily recommend listening to Keith's work which is quite eclectic but hugely enjoyable.

Steve,

A good choice although I only have one of his LPs from way back when.

I saw him play in the early '70s in Liverpool along with Andy Roberts if my memory serves me well!

Visit his web site as he is still touring.

All the best,

Richard
