Saw him play as part of the touring band John Hiatt and the Goners.  Simply amazing.  That's it. Simply amazing.  Nothing else to say.

John Hiatt & the Goners "Beneath This Gruff Exterior" is the album they were touring.  I believe it is on Spotify.

Kuma, she is now on her second disc for Alpha with some Shostakovich last year.  Two on Naive before this and her first on Ambroisie.

Ah thanks.

I only have her Ravel/Prokofiev Naiv disc. I missed her concert several times when she was in town. I kick myself not getting there!

It's nice to know she's still active. She's one of the few young talent that I admire. It's a shame ( or perhaps a blessing) she has not been picked up by a major label.

Alpha is not a bad place among current labels. When Didier Martin crossed from Naive to Outhere (Alpha) in 2014, he took some of Naive's stars with him: Anna Vinnitskaya, Patricia Kopatchinskaja, and Veronique Gens amongst others.

Thanks EJ,

Wonder if there are some changes happening at Naive. I noticed that Sokolov also jumped ship ( to DG )

Altho, I don't blame him because his recording at Naive label does no sound as good as they should.

But I can't help thinking Anna could be a much bigger star has she picked up by DG. Certainly she's talented and pretty as any of young DG pianists. ( altho she's much more low key )

This, on CD. Totally on-the-one compilation - including some unreleased material - of machine-funk workouts from 1970. Features all the greats: Bootsy and Catfish Collins, Clyde Stubblefield, Bobby Byrd, Jabo Starks, Cheese Martin, Fred Wesley, etc...

Good sound quality and dynamic range on this 1991 double CD for only £1.98 SH make it a real bargain from the River.

Attracted to this 2CD set as it's not the usual Greatest Hits collection with a number of unreleased tracks.

Steve,

I suspect you're really gonna like this.  Hope so. I listened to disc 2 earlier today, absolutely rocks. I've got "Live In Gdansk" on my wish list. BTW - good call on "Tommy" as well
