The Funeral by Arcade Fire.
Wonderful stuff. Better than the dears, the frames or u2, I also bought recently.

But then: I recently bought Totem Hawk speakers and they are from Canada, just like Arcade Fire....

Time for all you Francis Dunnery fans to rejoice. My most recent album purchase was "The Gulley Flats Boys" by FD. I think it's only available from www.aquariannation.com, but it is a more mature album than "Man", and possibly his last! I also ordered the "Hometown 2001" live album at the same time and I can't seem to get that out of the CD player. Both excellent.

CB

Oregon - Best Of Vanguard Years
Archie Shepp / Horace Parlan - Mama Rose - Mediocre...

Josh Rouse : Nashville (finally gave back my borrowed copy).

Snow Patrol: The Final Straw. Bought on a whim. Message to self-ignore whims in future.

As suggested on this forum in my Arvo Part thread, Monteverdi: Vespers, Hildegard Van Bingen: Feather On The Breath Of God. Both fascinating, and magnificent. Thanks.

Stefan enjoy the Camjazz CD's - still waiting for my batch.

Bought Charles Lloyd - Jumping the Creek - where did all those beautiful melodies go - disappointing to me on first listen.

Via Amazon this morning:
GU27 - Miami - this double CD has 80''s synths as well as modern dance riffs and grooves like a bugger

Porcupine Tree - Deadwing. Not played this yet...

Wir sind helden - von hier an blind
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - B-sides & rarities (excellent stuff)
Etta Scollo - Canta Ro' (recommended by a friend, Sicilian folk songs with an orchestra - could be something for a warm summer's evening, but not working yet)
Roxy Music - Country Life (another disappointing HDCD, well compared to the vinyl anyway - dull, dull, dull!)
Alban Berg - Lulu conducted by Pierre Boulez (saw the play at the weekend and will see the opera in July - challenging stuff)
Sandrine Piau - Händel: opera seria (sublime)
Richard Thompson - Action Packed (this man can do no wrong)
Paul Simon - Graceland, remastered (for the missus, good remaster to my ears as well)

The Phuturistic Noize Squad Presents - Wakin' up a Dead Planet Vol III
[with Phase IV / Atom Heart / Mass-turbator / Walker etc.]

This is Loop Part 1 - The Sound of Vienna
[with Mike Ink / Steel / DX13 vs GizzTV / Drax / Biochip C]

I was particularly pleased to acquire the DX13 vs Gizz TV track, as I missed this on 12" on E-Bay recently as it went for over £70!

Oregon - Jade Muse - Another well chosen sampler of the years with the Vanguard label

Celtic Circle No3 double CD. Now in brown rather than the sea-green of 2&3. More difficult to love at first listen but worth the effort IMHO.

Clannad: "Past Present" (1989) Some songs I haven't heard before.

Maire Brennan: "Perfect Time" Nice, as you would expect from a voice like hers.

The Connells. "Weird Food and Devastation".
Not as catchy as "Ring". "74-75" on "Ring" was the radio hit that attracted me to The Connells.
Lots of jangly guitars as usual and an interesting lead vocalist.

Wasilewski, Kurkiewicz, Miskiewicz - TRIO
Lang Lang - Rach #2

The Twilight Singers - Blackberry Belle.

Ex- Afghan Whigs frontman Greg Dulli's current band. I always thought the Afghan Whigs had a good bluesy/soul-type take on alt-rock, and this is well up to scratch.
