(1974) 1988 CD release

2007

Some quick grabs from the used bin hours ago. Funny thing about the Grateful Dead CD is that the price tag obscured the "The Best Of" subtitle and I thought I was buying a studio album. Didn't realize it was a compilation until I searched for a pic to post here. Love the cover art.

Rob Ickes is the world's leading exponent of Jazz Dobro.   This is just as good as it is novel.

Leo Parker is the baritone sax disciple of Charlie Parker.  Imagine Blue Note Hard Bop with a baritone.

This is a 50 song history of Allen Toussaint by various artists including the great Irma Thomas and Lee Dorsey.   It is worth buying for Whirlaway and Certain Girl alone, not to mention the other 48 great songs.   You have heard every song on it.   This man wrote the soundtrack to late 20th Century New Orleans.   He is to New Orleans music what James Brown is to Funk.

Thanks for the heads up on this Skip, I've ordered it. For less than a tenner!
