IIRC his website had something like six hits the week before, rising to something like 5 million on New Years Day. I know, I was one looking at the site wondering “who is this guy”
Yetizone,
That was my first exposure as well except I first saw the Jools show about 5-years ago. A couple good SS performances from The David Letterman Show as well. Thanks so much for your detailed response. I often see Dog House Music listed as a good starting point and I sample it. Seems like a safe bet. Cheers!
Okay, I took the safe approach and just bought 'The Best Of' compilation on a VG condition used CD for $6 delivered. It has 21 tracks and I'll see where my interest in Seasick Steve takes me from there.
Very lyrical performances of Schumann's string quartets - the very first bars give a good idea about the Modigliani's approach, which pays its biggest dividends when Schumann surprises with modulations or transformations of the melody, as in op. 41/1 IV. Not the most highly charged performances of these quartets (for that, the Doric String Quartet are great) but beautiful in a way I never expected in this music.
Cheers
EJ

Joe,
Good choice, I hope you enjoy the Greatest Hits album (must buy it also). If you enjoy this CD have fun exploring the back catalogue.
That sequence with Seasick Steve on Jools H is till once the coolest things I’ve ever seen!
