what was the last cd you bought?

so to get things off and running
queen--the highlander sound track
Luigi Boccherini - La Musica Notturna Delle Strade Di Madrid - Quartetto Casals
Holst - The Planets - Simon Rattle - Berliner Philharmoniker
CD1 also includes Pluto - Colin Mathews and CD2 related works from other composers like Kaija Saariaho - Asteroid 4179, Matthias Pinscher - Towards Osiris and others.
Having bought this on vinyl I found the copy I had had a defect on side two. There was a visible change of texture on the surface of the vinyl which produced a sort of hash on every revolution, particularly noticeable in quiet passages and between tracks. I cannot tolerate this, so the album was returned and the CD ordered instead. Not only is it £5.50 cheaper, but it also comes with a live DVD too. Replay via the NDS sounds pretty good too.
Just arrived in the post.

You're in for a treat, they sound really good, and the streamed rips are every bit as good as the original CDs.
The Hoax - Humdinger from a Dutch trader over on Discogs
A first Phineas Newborn JR.

I’m still not able to understand why a perfect rip from 2 different pressings of the same master can sound different, but listening tells me that these are obviously better than my 1990 Page masters. I’ve listened to 4 albums tonight for the sheer joy of the music. And the attention to detail on the sleeves and box is incredible, the physical set is a wonderful object in its own right. Thanks to Kevin-W, Dave Marshall and Stevee-S, and anyone else who mentioned it, an awesome purchase.
And about the music, if you set out to build the perfect hard rock band, start with 3 master instrumentalists, a drummer who can kick hard, play jazz lines, set the tone or follow it, be funky, heavy or anything you need, a bass player who will lead, follow, play keyboards, mandolin, wind, and set any tone you, like, a guitarist who can play sensitive acoustic, hard rock electric, innovate bowed styles, all three able to learn from any music from Indian, African, jazz, blues and incorporate the styles, and also take out over each others roles to give someone else freedom to play. Add a singer who can croon wail, belt, and act as an instrument. Add the ability to write great songs, and you have a very small list of bands.
Signed copy ordered from his website, I am really looking forward to this arriving.
