I'm adding to the tori amos theme.

The Beekeeper, wot I just bought (!)was hailed as a Return To Form. I found it vapid and sadly disappointing.

I have Boys for Pele on double clear vinyl, which looks great on the deck as I can pretend I have a glass platter.....

Apologies. It may just be the one in Winchester which has gone. Was misinformed by my son in that case!

Hi guys,

Just a quick line to let you all know that Patricia Barber’s “live France 2005” DVD video has just been released. I know some of you, especially the jazz fans, like her records a lot.

John Hiatt - "Master of Disaster"

If you are remotely a fan of JH, this album is a blast. JH with Luther Dickinson on guitar and Cody Dickinson on drums (both of the North Mississippi All-Stars) and the boys father, Jim Dickinson, producing. The bass player on this session is David Hood, who, along with J Dickinson, is from the grand era of Muscle Shoals music and, for those who love trivia, is also the father of Drive-By Truckers co-founder and leader Patterson Hood. (By the way, lock-up the women and children, the Truckers will be in the UK in September). The JH album is typical of his rather simplistic rhythmic-rhyming style of lyrics married to, again, simplistic seeming blues-based rock 'n roll - but, he just does it so damned well. This album is a feel-good delight. (saw JH with the NMAS this summer in Pdx and it was a joyful evening of fun-time rock 'n roll - see them if you have the chance.)

Front Room Ballads - Richard Thompson not as "imediate" as other albums I have.
Perhaps a "grower".

Claude - when you buy two items as wonderful as these then showing your age has to be agood thing. Of all the artists who made vertigo a great label, I feel Gentle Giant were the most original and the best.

Can't agrue with Chopin - the man was a genius.
