Assemblage - a collection of Japan's earlier stuff; I've always had a high regard for their version of 'I Second that Emotion'.

The Fall - Fall Heads Roll
Franz Ferdinand - You could have it so much better
New Order - Waiting for the siren call
Jamie Callum - Catching tales
Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac
Deep Purple 30

There seem to be permanent sales on these days so it is easy to get carried away, and cock ups are cheap. Actually went out to get the new Echo & The Bunnymen album, which I did not get.

Bit of a world music binge;

Suns of Arqa – Un1verse City
Indian downtempo with a bit of experimental thrown in. A really great album, allthough my 4 year old daughter thought the Nepalese (?) throat singers were scary.

The Dhol Foundation – Drum believable
Brilliant, a must have.

Shri – East Rain
Heard a track from this album on Late Junction, Radio 3, and really liked it. Album is, after a first listen. a bit disappointing, could well be a grower though.

Purbayan Chatterjee & Kala Ramnath - Samwad
Indian classical music – hmm, interesting...

Thione Seck – Orientation
Senegal meets India and Egypt. Great reviews in the Observer, it’s also this month’s best selling album at Stern’s music. It doesn’t work for me though, it seems a bit contrived. I’ll listen to it one more time, but expect it will end up in the cupboard under the stairs.

Ali Farka Toure & Toumani Diabate – In the heart of the moon
Excellent album, good from the first listen.

Just bought Zero 7 back catalogue. Some nice chilled sounds.
Also, new Simple Minds album better than expected, but still not a touch for me compared to 'Live in The City Of Light' era...!
Finally, had 'Scorpio Rising' from Death In Vegas on CD which was out on loan; never to be returned. So took the chance to buy another new copy at £2.99 (Music Zone) and fell in love, again, with the title track. Gallagher's tones are just built for that slightly retro 60's sludgy feel.

Out of interest I bought the following chart CDs:

Gorillaz
Kaiser Chiefs
Green Day
KT Tunstall
Paul Weller
Franz Ferdinand

I have played some of the Green Day and it's already growing on me. I fell asleep listening to KT Tunstall and the Gorillaz is going to take a couple of listens.

I intend listening to the others over the weekend.

Altan - Altan's Finest. Classic Irish folk music. Not a great variation of songs or instruments to be honest. 5/10 after 2 plays.

Rainer - Alpaca Lips,

Accoustic blues, very nice.

It's on now, playing on the CD3 with the new Chord attenuated cable, sounds pretty good to me, and the player isn't even warm yet.

Merz: Loveheart. Very good, like a more sophisticated Badly Drawn Boy at times? Thanks John for the recommendation.

Magnolia Electric: What Come After The Blues. Bit underwhelming at the moment.
