Haim - some good choices.

Peter Erskine - Time Being is one of my very favourite jazz CD's - a masterpiece. I like all his ECM dates.

I bought Mi Ritorni In Mente. It is pretty good but it is quite a way behinbd the Gleda CD in my opinion. I think that is partly due to a number of standards that are well known. With Gleda, all of the music was unknown (to me )Scandinavian tunes.

Another one for you to consider and one of my fave jazz CD's

BASELINE - WHY REALLY on Challenge Records - Hein Van De Geyn with John Abercrombie and Joe Labarbera. An excellent CD.

Have you also tried Enrico Pieranunzi?

Adrian,

Thank you again. I am flying to Israel for two weeks to visit my parents. After my return I will try to get Baseline and one of the Enricos whom I have not tried yet. Here is one of the finest world music you can find:

Sera Una Noche / MA recordings

Teddy Thompson - Separate Ways.

The first half of the disc was excellent on first hearing, the remainder is growing on me.

Surfjan Stevens 'Illinoise'.

If it topped Pitchforkmedia's best of 2005 I figured it should good. Sprawling and unconventional 22 track epic, needs several listens I think.

One a rare departure from classical/opera:

'In the heart of the moon' - by Ali Farka Toure & Toumani Diabate. Very pleasant indeed. Excellent background music.

'King Curtis live at Fillmore West' - King Curtis. For the stunningly sublime saxaphone version of 'whiter shade of pale'. You have to hear it to belive it. Priceless.

Journey: The Best of Donal Lunny.
Posted on: 29 January 2006 by Bruce Woodhouse
Three this week have accompanied a peaceful few days in Northumberland.

Surjan Stevens: Michigan.
Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins: Rabbit Fur Coat
Bright Eyes: I'm Wide Awake It's Morning.

The Jenny Lewis is especially good,a country/folk/gospel tangent for the voice of Rilo Kiley.

I'm not quite getting to grips with Bright Eyes at the moment.
