Dear Fredrik,
I didn't want to read that! I resisted it on Friday when I went into my local CD shop (though I did manage to order the Kleiber Figaro at long last) - perhaps when they call me to collect it I shall not be so restrained.
On Klemperer, I have been meaning to try his Beethoven ever since enjoying Davis's (which it is said is in his style). Do you know anything of the EMI box that also contains the concertos with Barenboim, seems a great bargain.
regards, Tam
p.s. you have mail.

Had a bit of a splurge today, having not been let out much recently! Only listened to these once so far.
Richard Hawley - Coles Corner (First impressions are very good, lovely sound)
Ali Farka Toure - Savane (I was reluctant to get this after one of my brothers said it was not much cop. First impression ok ish)
Kate Bush - The Sensual World (May go straight to the bottom of the pile, sorry Kate not one of your best)
Zero 7 - The Garden (Another one I was reluctant to get following some bad press on here, first listen suggests it's worth another)
Snow Patrol - Eyes Open (Solid follow on from previous album which took a while to grow on me)
Muse - Black Holes And Revalations (Not had a chance to listen yet, but a fan of previous efforts and I like the current single so should be ok)
Snow Patrol - When it is all over we still have to clear up (Picked up by mistake, not listened to yet)
Joni Mitchell - Blue (Cheap replacement of old family vinyl copy, after being wowed by recent vinyl purchase of Hejira)
Nick Drake - Five Leaves Left (After a combination of great reviews on here, and after hearing "River Man" on the radio, which I found mesmerising).
Could be a late night for Dad rock, only went to get a paper!
Regards
Nic

Nic,
You've got some great new music there! On the above three I would say:
Zero 7 - persevere! I found it a bit of a slow burner, but loved it after seeing them live, with the (IMO) tremendous Jose Gonzales (his songs are, I think, the best on the album).
Muse - modern prog! Not just the sound, but the overblown feel of everything - I think it's bloomin excellent. If anything, the single is a weaker track.
(It'll be interesting to see what you think - the recording quality of both of the above I found a bit challenging.)
Nick Drake - Ahhh... Wonderful.
Enjoy your listening,
James

Bonnie Prince Billy: The Letting Go
Yo La Tengo: I Am Not Afraid Of You And Will Beat Your Ass.
Both splendid in their extremely varied ways. The BPB may be the best thing he has done.

I bought Steven Osborne's new recording of the Debussy Préludes a couple of weeks ago, which has just been released on Hyperion. The reviewers were waxing lyrical about it on CD Review the day before I made the purchase; they played "The Hills of Anacapri" and "What the West Wind Saw" and I knew I just had to have this recording. It's wonderful!

BB King- Wails
BB King- King of the Blues.
They were part of about 5 early BB king discs I bought at the same time. Needed to fill a gap in my collection.
