Received today from Amazon.com

The Dears - Gang of Losers (includes 3 exclusive US bonus tracks); I wanted to see if the US pressing was less or not compressed, compared to UK.
John Mayer - Continuum
John Mayer - The Village Sessions (Continuum Acoustic tracks x5 + 'good love is on the way')

Ordered from the UK

Crosby Stills and Nash - Remastered & Expanded
Crosby Stills and Nash - Daylight Again: Remastered & Expanded
Henry Fool - Henry Fool
Blackfield - Blackfield II (cd preorder)

Joni Mitchell - Blue remaster (£5 from Fopp)
Joni Mitchell - Travelogue (£5 from Fopp)
Goldfrapp - Supernature (£5 from Fopp)
Snow Patrol - Eyes Open (£8.95 from Play, but it's £9 from Fopp!)

Fopp is great...

Not sure about Travelogue, possibly a grower. Bought Blue on impulse. I like, I think. Goldfrapp was another impulse buy after hearing some tracks in a demo. I think I like it.

Snow Patrol was an impulse 'coz of Chasing Cars which is on Magic FM most days. The rest of the album is arguably better. Very pleased.

Beats International - Let Them Eat Bingo. A blast from the past recently released on CD that includes Dub Be Good To Me, an all time favourite foot tapper.

Lily Allen - Alright, Still
Tongue in cheek observational lyrics to some Reggae/Ska musical influences. Better than expected and one I'm really enjoying listening to.

Faithless - New Arrivals. Hmm, not sure where Faithless are going with this album. Not enough Mazi Jazz and no real anthems...more listening required methinks!

I think you'll like it Jeff. I decided to play it before Continuum and it certainly stands on it's own two feet. Played it twice now and I like Slow Dancing and Gonna find another you (which to my ears has the feel of Peter Green's Need your Love so Bad. I think I'm gonna have to adjust now when hearing the Full Band Winker

Don't I remember there being a rumour that the follow-up was going to be a double? Now where did that go to....shame as the 1st album is very good.

Wish I had known you liked her as I gave away a copy of her first album to a friend.

My latest purchases were

Otis Rush - Mourning in the Morning
Bobby Blue Bland- Portrait of the Blues
John Hammond- Hot Tracks
John Hammond- Ready for Love
John Hammond- Sooner etc
John Hammond- Big City

The John Hammond's were just to fill a gap in my collection. I still have another couple to get.

I am currently in the clean out mood which usually means give away free to friends, sell off any that my nearest second hand shop wants and they are 100 miles away or yes bin them. So I will keep you in mind Jim. I will email you with anything I think you may like.

One of the stand-out CDs to hit the mat recently is this one from Glideascope: Audio Cinematography

It's down-tempo trip-hop based around a small string ensemble and it's really good. Excellent chill-out music without a semblence of bland-out. Highly recommended.

Meant to ask you how do you rate Catfish Keith? I can listen to long samples on cdbaby but you don't always get a true picture of what he sounds like. I have had a couple of folk tell me I should give him a proper listen.

I have one cd by catfish keith "Twist it Babe" and it's pretty good. It starts off good but soon starts to fade. He can certainly play the guitar. I shall have to dig it out and play it, it must be well over a year since I played it.

Would you like a copy? Let me know if you do.

Jackson Browne "Naked Ride Home"
I heard a track off the cd at the show in Manchester. The SL2s were sublime. Very impressed with the sound, thanks Doug.

Ewemon,

Sorry I didn't see this earlier. I have "Fresh Catfish" and I like it. I do tend to play snatches of it rather than the whole disc because there are several trad type arrangements.

But he can play and obviously enjoys his work - lucky chap.

Regards,

Steve.

Jim,

Have you heard "Solo Acoustic"?

It's a belter and a "must" for anyone who has ever liked anything of JB's.
