This week

The Shins: Wincing The Night Away. A very pleasing slice of indiepop, the sort of album that will be on constant play at a Student Union near you. Might buy their first album too now.

The Good The Bad and The Queen. Hmmm, surprisingly downbeat, melancholy but with the potential to be a grower. Perhaps. Anyone else struggling with this?

Arvo Part: Lamentate. Complex, intermittently gorgeous and sublime ECM recording quality (as ever).

Northpole

"Ditto" West has finally arrived and it's promising to be one of her best. Only played it twice so far and I love it.

Got this yesterday, Bruce. Musically, I'm enjoying it straight off (but perhaps that suggests I'm a bit melancholy by nature!!).

But the production does sound very 'loud' to me - all the levels, esp bass, seem very high, which I'm not not keen on. (And that's with my bass-lighter Kudos C10s - hate to think how it would have sounded with the old ProAc D15s).

Outlandos d'Amour
Regatta de Blanc
Zenyatta Mondatta
Ghost in the Machine.

On Adam's recommendation I had a look on FOPP and there may well be a few more CDs on their way.
