Are you happy with the sound quality of your MFSL version of "Fragile" and have you
compared it to the remastered version?

Jim
It sounds pretty good to me after 1 play.I bought it as a replacement for my other copy which for some bizarre reason has gone missing with my CD copy of Transformer. I don't lend out my music and no1 son claims not have recorded it and forgotten to put them back, they are not in the car and my daughter would not go anywhere near that sort of music.
Maybe Rasher's ghosts paid me a visit?

Doesn't answer your question though does it?
No nasties as far as I can tell, the sound seems smooth and all instruments and voices seem well defined.

Do you have any comments on this version?

Regards

Howard

No not really. I have the vinyl version from the 70s that I have not played for god knows how long because I sold my LP12 10years ago or more!!

But I have seen good reports on the web regarding this MFSL recording and all sounds good.
I am still awaiting 1 order from MFSL (Marc Cohn) before I invest in more. But I have to say I am increasing my fustration with the delivery times!!

Only 7 days from Little Rock AR. Sorry Jim.

This is a mono/stereo + 6 bonus and SACD recording.
In Ultradisc UHR gain2 and whatever they are.
Unfortunately no funky MFSL CD case just the new style that turns up every now and then.
This replaces a rather sad and party damaged vinyl version.
Peace out man.

Been thinking about buying this one when it is still cheap. Whats it like BigH47
Posted on: 10 June 2007 by BigH47
I like it as it filled a special time for me so I could be biased. It sounds so good in mono bearing in mind it's age, it seems less cluttered and a better instrument blend than the stereo mix.I was one of those Dylan fans who thought The Byrds helped his music and so was not upset by their efforts.Unlike some (they probably didn't like Electric Dylan either).
Overall I think it's one worth having especially if you can get it at a good price. I paid £17 delivered, which seemed OK for an MFSL edition.

The Decembrists: The Crane Wife.

Really enjoying it. Just a bit prog-rock in places but still very fine.

Sorry about the delay Bruce. Part of that has been down to getting my head round A Sun Came! as a whole.

It's a very mixed album in terms of style - you get some of the simpler stuff, like from Seven Swans, some stuff that would be at home on Illinois or Michigan, and then some stuff that sounds positively indie or even slightly grunge!

First time through I wasn't too convinced but subsequent listens have resulted in the strength of the songs themselves coming through. So go for it, especially if you see it cheap.

Oh, and it's very very long. Something like 78 minutes, which is a lot of anyone in one sitting so I've tended to split listening to it into two.

Thanks Gary. Much as I like Sufjan Stevens the quality seems to have risen with age and I'll probably stick with those I already own. Seven Swans took a while to grow but I love Michigan and Illinoise/Avalanche. I skipped the Xmas collection too-humbug!
