When we were in Edinburgh and bought a couple of Runrig CDs the girl in the staore said "do you prefer the Donnie Munro CDs?" I had to confess I didn't know there was a DM era. Can't say I have a preference either way.
We managed to see them on Wednesday for the first time. Excellent gig it was too.

Noisettes is a great album - new discovery for me at Reading this year when I saw both their main set and an acoustic one at the Nokia tent and was bowled over. The CD was in my collection the following week.

A recent trip to London with my 16-year old son saw us hitting the Rough Trade East shop and ended up in a bit of a splurge! Namely..

Holly Golightly - "My First Holly Golightly Album"
Sun Ra - Greatest Hits Easy Listening for Intergalatic Travel
Porter Wagoner - "Rubber Rooms"
David Shrigley "Shrigley Force to Speak with Others"
Robert Wyatt - "Comicopera"
P.J. Harvey - "White Chalk"
A Mountain of One - "Collected Works"

Oh well... a damn sight less money than the Hi-line I was going to buy!

also a piece of vinyl....(see other post!)

Steve et al,

Sorry Steve to pick your post for this generic request...

I love to try new stuff, and use this thread amongst the general posts to steer me. However, over the years these posts seem to have become lists without analysis/opinion.

So...

Currenty listening to "Iron and Wine"'s "The Shepard's Dog", downloaded from Napster after following a recommendation from Bruce in this thread. Really quite good. I'd describe it as Modern folk. And possibly as James Blunt for those who actually like music.

This CD is excellent. It is a mixture of catchy riffs and lines but some of the songs are quite mellow and relaxing
