Popped into HMV on the way home from the office last night and picked up:
Ethiopiques - The very best of Ethiopiques
Bartok - String Quartets 1-6 (Belcea Quartet)
Played the first disc of each last night. Both excellent in rather different ways! I had heard great things about the Ethiopiques series and was not sure what to expect, but it seems a great mix of Ethiopian music with some soul, jazz and funk.
The Bartok on the other hand was a bit more challenging after a day in the office!

Boris and Merzbow - Rock Dream
My first Boris CD though I heard some of their stuff before. Based on this, I am not sure I could handle Merzbow by himself!

Good week for new CDs.
Four Underworld 'Live Here Now' releases from 28-31 January, Köln, Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Brussels. They are really playing some great shows on this tour.
Two Peter Hammill remasters, 'Chameleon in the Shadow of the Night' and 'The The Silent Corner and the Empty Stage', and Van Der Graff Generator 'World Record', also the remaster, arrived at the weekend. All have excellent sound.
Waiting for Peter Hammill 'Peel Sessions' to arrive from Amazon marketplace.
I am still hammering the Led Zeppelin 'The Song Remains the Same' reissue from last year, it really feels like a show that flows now.
Now just waiting for a replacement CD5x to arrive to hear them all at their best, although I did get to play the Hammill and VDGG on the old tetchy one for a couple of days before it was sent away.
