Trisector is very good indeed, much better than Present (except for Every Bloody Emporer and Nutter Alert). The songs and arrangements are very tight and the playing is highly rehearsed yet free flowing. It is not like any other VdGG album though - most of the songs are quite short. I saw the trio live last year and they didn't really miss Jaxonsax then, he is not missed at all on this album. If you are a fan though buy it - you won't be disappointed.

Going to see them again in London next week - can't wait!

Blueknowz/JWM.

How is the Elbow album? Press seem to have liked it but the previous album I owned by them was pretty plodding. Likely to be a 'keeper'?

Beth Nielsen Chapman "Prism" and "Greatest Hits". She opened for Kris Kristofferson on Wednesday at the RAH, and was very good indeed. Intelligent, touching and sincere sonwriting at its best. She spoke about her personal journey and it has been a rough road for her, yet her songs are full of light and love. Sounds corny but it's not.

Just hit the door mat -

Kik Dee - Perfect timing + bonus tracks.
This is on the Deman/Edsel label, from the original analogue master tape, so should be a decent recording.

Sorry for delay in response.

You p'r'aps wouldn't exactly jive to it Bruce, but I love this new Elbow album. There aren't so many receordings these days that I listen to twice off straight away. But this Elbow and Toumani Diabate's Mande Variations have both scratched my itch recently.

I would say that the new Elbow does sound like a band that have grown in mature stature. I don't anticipate that mine will remain dormant on the shelf.
