Heard this device hooked up to some Focals at Audio T in Manchester this morning. Ooooh! Sublime!
Probably one of those silly questions, but can you plug headphones into a MuSo ? I can't see it in the online manual, but I can't see where it says you can't either. Thanks in advance, Roger
This probably sounds a bit of a wimpish question but I'm going to ask it anyway. We're in the closing stages of deciding on which new speaker to replace our faithful early and still good sounding, Linn Keilidh speakers on the end of a new 272 + 250DR combo. The new speaker selection criteria are acoustics, aesthetics and some specific size considerations, plus as a secondary consideration the cost. After evaluating a lot of candidates it's come down to two rather different solutions. Either...
Having just joined the Naim family, I have upgraded from Bluesound Hi Res streamer to the Naim Unitiqute. I'm using the system in my office and looking for recommendations for speakers to partner with Unitiqute. Most of my listening is done in close proximity and at lower levels. I listen to mainly blues, rock music. Looking for small speakers as desk space is a premium, so something like B+W CM1 (newer model) or maybe a sub sat system like the Totem Kin ? Speakers can be sealed or ported as...
I stream most of my audio from NAS via network, but sometimes I'm watching some catch up TV or You Tube on office PC Would you connect using 1/ Optical out from Xonar Essence STX Audio Card 2/ Coax out from Xonar Essence STX Audio Card 3/ Analogue Stereo from Xonar Essence Audio Card 4/ Use USB Dac (Muse Mini Dac) to optical or coax ?
Hi Had the opportunity to listen to a solid state amp ( 30W ) with with a Fostex 166 En based DiY speakers.. I liked the sound very much. I looked around the forum for some threads on naim nait 5i with single driver setups but i couldnt find any / many. Any of you can share pics and experiences with the Fostex type drivers with small Naim amps ? I am looking to start a Fostex Fe126En based build by September and it would be nice to know the advantages / experiences and pitfalls. best regards mpw
Hi! Even though I've ripped all my music to hard drives, I would like to have a player or transport to play cd's blu-ray-discs or even sacd's directly through my DAC-V1. Of course I'd like it to output unconverted dsd-audio from sacd through a digital co-axial connection or even BNC. Does anyone know if such a player or transport even exist? Please enlighten me.
Thought I’d share my recent experience of building my first every home made Hi-Fi rack. I decided to loosely follow a couple of online photos of self builds and make my own hybrid version. Essentially a three point support (as they tend to be more stable and easier to make and level), dual isolation system. Firstly I got the local timber yard to cut six pieces of 18mm good quality hardwood cross ply to the exact same sizes, as they could do this more accurately than I could with a circular...
I am getting a Unitlite shortly and wondered if there is a minimum length of speaker cable needed with this product... I understand that in general for NAIM amps you need to have a minimum speaker length of 3m to ensure stability... but this true for the integrated devices such as the Unlilite? I have checked the on-line manual, but there is no mention of minimum speaker lengths for the Unitilite, so is this 3m guidance for the NAIM poweramps (NACP200, NAP250 and the like?
Next Monday my present NAP 250 will be replaced by a very nice 2012 NAP 500 ( can' t wait, it's quite an aspiration in my mind from ages) At the moment, 250 sits on the far right stack extended level, with base>standard level (empty)>extended level (250) My idea is to place the psu on middle's base stack, but also have the opportunity to put it on the 3rd level between 555 and 552 psu s. The head unit could go on the extended level, leaving the standard level below, as it is now, this...
I tried tuning into Radio 3 this morning to listen to some music and was unable to do so. I managed Classic FM and various other stations but no luck with R3. Having turned the tuning dial from end to end I wondered if anyone has any ideas what I should do. Cheers, SteveT
Hello All I recently upgraded my speakers from PMC TB2+ to PMC Twenty.22 and i am finding the burn-in period of 50 hours very long and frustrating. I am half way through and although much improved from when out of the box, i am still lacking richness in the mid range. What are other forum owner's experiences during this period - am I going to see significant changes still getting past 50 hours??? Regards Mark (system - Naim ND5 XS and Nait XS-2)
Dear readers, Two weeks ago I came back from a business trip and I switched on as usual my NAIM equipment (NAC 82, NAP 250, Non-Naim PSU, Naim CD 3.5, Phonosophie Turntable, Harbeth SHL5). Than I went to see a friend for 1 hour. After I came back to my house there was a strange smell like almonds and it seemed that it came from my stereo. Instead of switching everything off, I put on a CD and than it happened. A loud noise came through the Speakers and....... yes.....the tweeter in both...
Hi Everyone, I am a happy owner of a Dac-V1 + SN2 + Mac mini runnig Audirvana plus. Coming from V1/Nap100, it has been a huge step in terms of image, detail and bass control. I think I can have more refinement on high frequences, so I'm getting the idea of trying a psu like Hicap 2 Dr or other. In my combination which psu is suitable? Hicap2 dr of course, but what about Xps dr or Supercap dr? I know that supercap is more reccomended on pre/power solution, considering the price, but I want...
Quick one, Does the NAC552 use a SuperCap or does it come with its own PS?, I am trying to figure out if someone owns a NAC252, SuperCap, NAP250 and is going to upgrade to NAC552 and NAP300 does the NAC552 use the existing SuperCap or does it need its own 552PS?, Thanks, T
This post warrants being written as I bitched in a thread below about the extortionate cost of hifi racks. Well, I've had a new 300DR for 3 weeks now and due to it being an upgrade from my 250.2, I had to sit my 252 straight on top of my nDAC. I chose to then buy another hifi level (writing the rack moaning thread straight after), stacking the equipment as follows: NAC252 nDAC NAP300 nVi 555PS DR Supercap DR NAP 300PS I am shocked as to how much separating the 252 from the nDAC has done!
I've found a used fraim for a nice price.. giving it some thought. My gear currently sits on 3 racks of Quadrapsire 4 evo. If I got the fraim, I would put 4 pieces of the gear on the fraim, and the balance on either 1 or 2 racks of quadraspire. The fraim has four levels. Curious what you would those in the know would suggest should go on the fraim, and what should go on the quardraspire. Currently my gear set up is as follows: Left Stack: 300 DR Head Unit empty Supercap Center Stack 252 NDX...
Got my Unitilite late this morning - it's wired up and producing a nice sound.... while fiddling around with the menus I discovered that you can see the temperature that the Unitilite is operating at... (interestingly this data is not available on the N272 I also have)... My Unitilite is running at 38C... the top of the box is warm to the touch (where as with my N272 the top of the unit is just barely warm) - I am concerned if my Unitilite is running 'hot'... Can anyone who also has a...
Hey all...hope this post finds everyone with smiles on their faces while listening to their favourite music... I had a chance to listen to a demonstration setup for one of my colleague's customers this past Saturday and I have to say it was pretty damn amazing...it consisted of Naim NAC-N272 and NAP 300 with a set of Harbeth M40.2 speakers...all I can say is...Wow!!! The Naim and Harbeth combo brought out so much minor nuances and subtitles that are overlooked by so many systems at similar...
Is it possible to activate the DAC V1 via the Narcom 4 remote that comes with the SuperNait2? None of the System Component Keys seem labelled to be able activate the DAC. I can access soft functions, such as volume control, but not hard functions such as menu access. Thanks!
Having been a member of the Naim gang for over a year now, and what a thoroughly enjoyable year it's been, I'm now seriously contemplating my next move. My Unitiserve, which was used initially to rip my 1500 cd collection to its 2TB hard drive, and currently acts as my server to SuperUniti, Unitiqute and Muso, is back with Naim having suffered a hard drive failure. All is backed up to a Synology 2 X 3TB NAS, so no great drama. i have been saving hard, and may be about to come into a...
My old CD5 regularly fail to play cds , or I have to reload the cd 3-4 times before it start to play. Nowadays I do not want to buy a cd player but rather buy a DAC . This will be connected to my Oppo 103D for cd playing and Tidal music. Will Naim DAC v1 give similar sound to my old CD5?
After a sucessful run of work a deal came up on a used 555PS which was too good to resist. It's back on the NDAC and, oh my! Totally transformational. The scale has expanded hugely and, combined with far more natural 'real' timbres and detail the experience is totally immersive. I feel like I'm bathing in the bass on 'Anthem of the Sun'! Loving it! Really shows what the recent firmware update can do. G
Given all the love for the Senns on this forum, I thought I'd have a listen, comparing them to my Grados. If the difference had been large I might have switched, but it was more mixed than that. Hooked up to a Chord Mojo, both were very impressive, although quite different. The Senns were warmer and more delicious, bringing a great sense of balance to the music. The Grados were a little more lean (although they have warmed up a lot since new), perhaps more clean and rhythmic. On this brief...
Hi to all from Spain! I am seriously thinking about to get a SU to replace my almost new UQ2. Looking at the second hand market I see at least two version of the SU. One with bluetooth and another without. Are there any other specs that also changer, like sampling rate, radio... between other versions? Any idea about when these versions appear (in terms of serial numbers)? Is it possible to update all to the last firmware (tidal is a must)? Thanks for all you help. ...Javi
