I have 2 stacks of shelves at the moment and 4 levels each. The current arrangements are (top to bottom) Left Bank- NDX/252/dCS Puccini/300 Right Bank- dCS clock/supercap/300ps/tellus ground-box do you Guys think this is the right order? As I’ve seen some suggesting the ndx may even be placed on the bottom level but I assume this is not doing wireless streaming any favours.... open for suggestions. Thanks
if cables are directional does the negative conductor of a speaker cable go in the opposite direction?
Just found these in my spares box, but cannot recall what they are for. Can anyone help? enjoy/ken
As I set here on a rainy afternoon my thoughts are wandering to what speakers you would consider for a nd555/552/500dr system? I’m intrigued by ATC active speakers but good luck finding anything above a scm100 in the USA. I’m considering Kudos and own Focal. Magico are a lot of money. Just want to hear from some of you that may have already made this decision. And please, don’t reply if your answer is “you have to listen for yourself”, I get that.
I currently have an NDX into a Supernait2 into Kudos C20 speakers and am looking at a two stage move to separates 282 & 200 if I get the 282 first then can I use the SN as the amp? I know the option if I get the 200 first but have seen a decently priced pre loved 282 thank you
Bit of a puzzle here at Chez Dave. My HDX returned home last week, having been back to Naim for a service, part of which included a new internal power supply. Since re-installing it, I now have a fairly annoying hum coming from the second of the two 555 PS power supplies connected to my ND 555, something which was not there when the ND 555 was installed by my dealer, using the new Burndies supplied. Now, the only connection between the HDX and the ND 555, is via a Cisco ethernet switch, so...
Do naim or anyone else make replacement cases for the classic series? I know the shoebox ones are / were available..but what about black series please?
I know many people leave their Naim equipment switched on all the time, but I how about a lowly Atom? Should I? I switch mine off after every session and I do think it gets better as it warms up (or maybe it's me getting warmed up...). Is there any kind over fire risk, or risk of overheating? Any thoughts? I still love it, it's outstanding !
Hi can anyone tell me if the 250dr goes well with proac d20r plz iI'v just tried the d28 and it was to much bass,my room is 5m by 4 m .
I think there is a difference between earlier and later Supercap power supplies...pre DR ...but cannot remember what ... something to do with what they can be connected to ... Can someone remind me pls ? Thanks
Hi guys, I'm thinking of doing an up grade on my DAC. There was an opportunity for a PS555 220V. My question is if I can turn this PS to 120V. Thank you in advance for your help. Maurico
Hi everyone...Is a NAP 250 DR powerful enough to comfortably drive PMC twenty5 26 speakers? I was informed, that on a rare occasion, if driven at high levels for a long period, the NAP 250 DR has been known to shut down and go into safety mode. Has anyone come across this before? Thanks
Is it a good thing updating my PS 555 for obtain a PS555 DR ? Does it gave a better sound for the cost of update. Is it really necessary to proceed? Thanks a lot
Following the recent acquisition of a Lyra Etna I'm wondering what if any other owners are using it with a superline and if so what loadings have you tried lyndon
Trying an active speaker, but the phono outputs (the RCA sockets marked with "line out") from the 152XS leaving full volume signal. Having a FlatcapXS with 2*snaic connected powering the pre - can't you do that if you use the "line out" from 152? How should I do to be able to control the volume? Read in the manual about "AV bypass". Can it be related? Appreciate some guidance
A debunking of MQA in the white papers section of bobcarvercorp. Just another attempt to grab some cash from unsuspecting punters.
Hi all, I am new in this forum and this is my first post. I have a nac 62 cb, hicap cb and nap 250 cp all fully serviced. They sound great but I have a little problem with the connection of the hicap to the 62. If I connect the preamp direcly to the 250 there is now hum or buzzing, if I connect the usual way using snaic from 62 to hicap and then from hicap to 250 there is a slight buzzing in both speakers. Both power cords have the usual earth connected as it should be. Please, any...
Or.. What is the considered opinion on the best DAC for the CDX2.2? I've used this lovely player, with an xps, as a transport with dacs from other manufacturers like Cambridge and Yamaha to good effect. Just wondering what the ideal Naim dac might be?
Is the Snaic5 black shielded compared to the old grey? Is the construction of the grey and black cables different in any way? Thank you. Tube
Hi chaps not been here for a while. I'm about to audition a S1. I've got on The Pretenders new album ... how much more can you get from this on Viuyl? It sound incredible now
Hello all, A year ago my wife and I went out to a local dealership to listen to (and with intent to buy) the Mu-So soundbar. Our LG 5.1 surround radio/cd/dvd home cinema system had died so we needed something new, and the single box with no wires and Naim quality seemed the perfect fit. We were supposed to spend no more than an hour at the store, then go home with the Mu-So. Well... That hour turned into the entire afternoon plus early evening with the both of us in the listening room and...
After hearing a Nait 5si driving a pair of Dynaudio X18s at my dealer, I was impressed enough to sell my Hegel H160 with the intention to switch to Naim. For my Dynaudio speakers, I'll need at least the XS2, or perhaps even the SN2, to power them. I'm trying to find a dealer that has these available to audition. Are the XS2 and SN2 as good with pace, rhythm, and timing as the 5si? Or do you give up some of this in exchange for a deeper, more insightful presentation as I imagine those two...
After an instructive visit to Leicestershire my faith in my 2004 'geddon has been shattered. Listening to the Lingo 4 in contrast with a Lingo 3 (roughly 'geddon-esque) I have heard so much more detail and greater PRAT that I am severely questioning the heart of my vinyl-playback system. Have you had a similar experience?
Just wondering out loud. Guess only Richard Dane can answer this one.
Any more reports on these? i have a listening area of 14ft x 10ft. Speakers back to glass. The 10ft side actually extends 40ft to one side, but the left speaker is next to an alcove that hosts the naim stack. Listening at low volumes is a must - the room can’t handle high volumes (treble). I don’t want excessive bass - but I don’t want to under speaker either - these are probably the last speakers in this lifetime.. Thoughts? i don’t have the time to carch a flight to demo the speakers - not...
