Thinking about getting a proper mains situation installed. But amongst many Qs that can be seen through from reading forum, I'm interested about the point of contact. putting in an audiophile double wall plate a while ago to replace some old domestic ones, the main supply went in behind the right socket with a jumper to the left. Is this jumper a thing against quality? As I get different results at present by having source into right socket and amp into left and visa versa. if putting in a...

Just got a second hand nac202, tried to mute record out but not sure if I'm doing it right. Press "Mon" followed by press the "Mute" button doesn't seem to work. I then went into "program" mode, doing the same 2 button press lit up the "Mute" button for about 3 seconds and then it went out. This is not quite what the manual said: "To engage or disengage record mute press the front panel mon button followed by the front panel mute button. The mute button indicator will illuminate when record...

At last I'm now enjoying my new Naim system. I'm just 3 days into my listening experience and I'm really impressed with what I'm hearing! My basic question is the volume on the N 272 is on a numbering system. How high does the volume number go? 100?

After taking the plunge and getting a Uniti2, I'm now faced with another dilemma. To expand my music collection (mostly indie) by going the Hi-Res or vinyl route. Most of my existing collection is a 50:50 mix of lossless and lossy music ripped to a NAS. Both of these the Uniti2 handles with aplomb and Tidal streaming at FLAC is great for finding new music. But I'd be interested to know what other naim users think of the difference between Hi-Res vs Vinyl.

I have my NAC N272 connected to a NAP100 and inputs are digital input from a MAC Mini and also an optical input from my TV. Very simple system. For some reason i do not understand the NAC 272 goes into mute by itself rather frequently, and this started couple of days ago for no apparent reason. It is more frequent when i am watching youtube clips on the TV, although it also happens when i am listening to normal music from the Mac Mini using the J.River Media Player. Any ideas why this is...

I have used NACA5 with my Naim based system for 20+ years. I have flirted with other cables, occasionally, but the trusted A5 is the one that I return to. It has been moved from house to house, stored, moved etc on many occasions. Last year, I noticed that the banana plugs had oxidised badly, so replaced them. However, it got me wondering about the cable itself. Musically, it works, as in the sound gets from one end to the other. However, the years of moving and rebending A5, a task best...

Hello everyone, I'm wondering if current naim preamplifiers are better than Mark Levinson 3 series, and in particular nac 252 vs ML 380 or others. What should be the right comparison with nac 252 on ML models? Thanks, mark

Hi, As this combination promises to improve performance of the pre-amp by utilising the DR circuits in the 200, I was wondering if anybody had the chance to compare with the previous version of the 200. ATB Ray

So how do SBLs work? Why are they so good? I know there's what looks like a small drain cover in the bottom of the mid box. I suppose I'm asking what is a precision acoustic resistance? This is the phrase I've read here. Please assume no more than O-Level physics (1977) grade C in any replies. Thanks and Best, Chris

Collected my new player today and it sounds fine. However I am disappointed with the interconnect that came with it. A grey piece of string with dins on the end. You would think that when your spending £2245 on a Naim CD player the least they could do is bundle a decent interconnect with it. Looks like a visit to the Witchs Hat site .

Just wanted to know if you can add a Nap 250 to a Nait 5 without the need for a Hicap?

Hi Everyone - I'm new to the Forum...and really quite new to Naim Audio (less than 18 months) I have built up a system of pre-owned Naim separates (mostly) and in doing so, am fulfilling a lifelong dream of owning and enjoying a quality Naim system and the lovely sound reproduction that comes with it. My setup is as follows :- NAC 82 / NAP 250 (olive) / CDS2 & XPS (newly acquired) / NAT05 Tuner / NBL Speakers / NAC A5 cable and the only non Naim item (soon to be rectified I hope) is a...

Hi, Being newby on this site... Happy user of a Supernait 1, CD5i(talic), Chromecast Audio and a set of B&W CM1's in my living room. I'm also an organ player and will move somewhere in the next year from a standard electronic organ to a Hauptwerk based organ. This stuff will be in my study / working room. Since I'm almost daily enjoying my Naim setup I was thinking to use Naim amplification together with the Hauptwerk stuff. A requirement is that the Naim amplification should not only be...

Is there anything I can use to keep the hum out of my HC that is caused by dimmers and other things in my house? Will a power conditioner even solve this? or an Emotiva CMX 2? ..... without affecting over all sound quality of my system?

I just wanted to post my impressions of the Elijah Audio Konvertible Lite 160 cable for the Chord Hugo DAC. In comparison with the bundled cable the difference is shocking. It is as big of an improvement as my Hugo was over the Audiolab MDAC. All the standard Hifi improvements are expected such as improved bass midrange clarity and treble. I will note that I was suffering some treble glare from a few of my poor quality mp3 files which is now almost completely tamed. What I find incredibly...

I am new at this site and would like to get further information. What would you say, is it possible to run a N172xs preamp together with a NAP250.2?

Apologies if this has been asked before recently, but I couldn't find it on a search. Is it possible to retrofit the DAM FM module to an existing Naim streamer? If so, what's the (financial) cost? Ta.

Hi all! I would be very grateful for any wisdom regarding how a good condition nac 12 compares to a nac 72, with a 180 (recapped), LP12 and SBL? Regards Fred

My kindly UPS man wheeled my new NAIM 250DR into my listening room early last night. Opening the carton and placing it into the rack this morning I realized there was something missing .. a back brace .. I suspect you 500 guys have to be in tremendous shape to move your equipment in and out of the racks .. or do you hire a crew to do it for you ?

I recently replaced my old Rel Quake with the new model Rel T7i It seems incredible, I remember the small Quake had more grip, punch and deeper bass, my setup is in high level connected to the speakers level input for music only with a Superuniti, not home theatre. I would like to know yours opinions, the T7 is new, maybe it must run for some days to really open up or the Quake is a big winner with respect to new Rel products....? In Rel official web site the T7 is referred as one of the...

When I worked in the music industry, it was a well accepted fact that the death of an artist was good for sales ! Like it or not, this was true. I've been browsing the forum this morning and cannot help but observe that this same truism applies to Ovators... I'm wondering should I buy a pair or two and wait for their rarity value to soar through the roof ? (Or is everyone hyping themselves up, as I've noticed can happen in this wonderful world of hifi that we all inhabit?) Roger BTW, for my...

I'd like to set up music in two rooms using one source - Uniti. Is it possible to use, for example, a unitiqute to play music to the connected speakers, whilst using its digital out to provide a signal for another naim hi-fi system in an adjacent room? Thanks Rhod
