Chaps I am worried a little by occasional pops, or discharges in my system even when the pre is muted and selected an unoccupied free channel : I can not attribute these pops to any other electrical activity ie turning on or off some lights or other electrical devises. Hi all, I recently upgraded my system by purchasing my new 282 and ND5XS.On my short list there's a new rack for my system.Having spent a considerable sum of money so far,Fraim is not on my mind:I would need a six shelfs combo,a lot of money.What you guys think of Custom Design Milan Reference 10"Acoustic"?I am sure it will better than my DIY TNT rack,but what if compared to,say,an Fraim or an Reference Quadraspire?Esthetically I like this rack very much and I like its price too...

I am soon to get a separate spur fitted, but need some advice as to what to get. I have up to £5000, so a question arises as to how far I could optimise the electricity supply. The external wire - whole 3 bedroom house supply - from the meter outside is 1 inch diameter and that includes the external insulation, suggesting the wire inside is MUCH less. Hi, I have a chance to pick up a N-Sub at a reasonable price. As it’s obviously a used one, I wonder if the amplifier inside needs the usual recapping or other types of maintenance. Is Naim still able to repair possible defects? The Sub available is perfectly fine, but I wonder nonetheless. According to the N-Sub manual, the preferred connection is either speaker-level or DIN to Cinch. How to implement the former is clear to me, the latter not. Hi After 8 years having a 1st generation Uniti in my life I am considering my next move. I was seriously considering going back to separates but my local dealer is pushing me to consider the Uniti Star or the Nova. If i decide to go this way I will probably go with the Star as I own a large collection of CDs that I continue playing on a regular basis. With all of the rationalisations going on I hope the Nait XS will not be a casualty I think it is one of the best in their range yet What Hi-Fi do not even mention it! I found it so much better than the 5 (more detail, more clout and thump free) Perhaps Naim ought to promote it more

Suggestions appreciated for a first class Record cleaning anti-static Brush. Back in the day (before cd’s) I used one that was purchased from WHSmith, cheap and cheerful and seemed to do the job. I have a very similar one now, from the cheap and cheerful range, Have things moved on? Just how important is the quality of the brush? I have a NAC-N272, software 4.4 and the FM Dab module. I moved several counties, so while the BBC multiplex is in the same place as well as a surprising number of other stations, which works fine on DAB, I have some stations from the old place that aren't there, and presumably some in the new place that aren't there. Good day all. A very quick question on service intervals if I may. About 18 months ago I was lucky enough to be able to purchase a pre loved 2009 552, which also had the added benefit of having the DR upgrade done in 2014 (just the DR not serviced). Obviously the 552 is in 2 parts. I have read on this forum that for the pre 15 years is deemed about right for servicing? I have a pair of Dynaudio Focus 160s (4 ohm/ 85db) paired with a Hegel H160 amp. I really like to listen to loud guitar rock with heavy drums and feel sometimes that the Hegel is too polite for these speakers (no slam and no PRaT) and that things get a bit on the thin side when I want to listen loud, although I've never ventured into the realm of distortion, much less, clipping. These little boxes really demand a lot. I'd like to know if the NAIT XS 2 would do a better job with my speakers...

Hi all What can be connected to my Atom to achieve the best working conditions to my Focal Elear headphones? I want to keep the Naim user interface as with Atom, 272 etc, but with better amp driving the phones. If possible, I want to avoid solutions as Atom- Dac V1, due to redundant preamps. My post was about the demise of the CD5 XS. Though I have also noted that the CDX MK2 has disappeared from the manufacturer's website. My local dealer still stocks all three CD players. Though with only the CD5 Is listed. Where does one go? I had dreams of purchasing a CD5 Xs and that disappeared from the Naim Website. Now the CDX MK2 has disappeared from the Naim website. Just bought a copy of Norah Jones - Feels Like Home only to discover it has 'copy protection' so I've had to rip it in burst mode on EAC. I'm assuming that the burst mode rip is probably fine? How do they encode the disc to play fine on a CD player (or does it?) but cause rippers/copiers such a headache?

I'm in my middle 50s and my hearing ain't gettin' no better. Found speakers that gel with my room. Got a nice integrated with a pleasing phono stage. Well organized and cared-for physical media at my disposal with no interest in streaming. I am a strong believer that of all the elements of the replay chain, the speakers are the ones that will have the biggest impact in terms of overall (sonic) experience, so putting those aside, and keeping the sources the same, why is it that pre-amplifiers have that level of influence on the sound?

I notice that Naim is down to just one CD player I currently have CD5 XS and would like to keep it going, how long will Naim support it? Would it be worth buying a new CD5 SI and keeping it in reserve as a back up I have heard that unused CD player mechanisms can deteriorate if not used, is this so? Could Naim allow CD users to register with them to receive a message if they propose to discontinue CD to permit a chance to buy one before they become obsolete

We had thunderstorms at home with lightning yesterday while I was at work. Neighbors said lightning was close and thunder "shook the houses". Hi all, about to complete my full SL loom and I am about to switch around my fraim stcking order to: top to bottom: ndac 252 300 head unit - (HDX now here) HDX - (300 head unit now here) supercap CD555PS 300 PS This is to ensure all the cable are 100% off the floor (only one of the 300 burndy is touching the floor now & I did not bother me too much) , especially the SL XLR/DIN amp cables. Thoughts on this? I’m moving my main system (UnitiCute2, NAP100 and Totem Hawks) to a new media room setup and getting a new system with a Core and Nova for the bigger lounge. I’m looking at running Forests with the Nova, as I really like the performance of the Hawks, but will have more power to drive the Forests, and the aesthetics are a good match for the lounge setup.
