Got a Uniti Core from a local dealer 3 days back. Objective was to replace my MacMini+Mac Super Driver+ JRiver/Roon/Audirvana based Music Server solution. Here are my initial findings after using it fore few days - Strength - 1. Excellent ripper. Clearly a superior one compared to my Mac Mini based solution. 2. Great backup solution too. Can support multiple backup options in parallel - NAS based and local USB drive based. Could set it up and run very easily. 3. As player also extremely good...

Hi All, Any idea what is the preference used by Uniti Core to pull meta data from online Music Libraries ? I found that it tries to get metadata from AllMusic.com, MusicBrainz and FreeDB . However, I am seeing even if MusicBrainz has better meta data (with proper Disc Id) most of the times the metadata is brought from FreeDB (if it does not exist in AllMusic), except one or two cases. Now FreeDB does not have album arts neither the data quality is good. So I'm interested to know when does it...

Using the Naim iOS App to re-start Tidal (after one of the many, many times it stops playing). If I choose a track from the middle of a playlist, the first track in the playlist will play momentarily (and display in the iOS App) before playing the track I chose. Does anybody else see this?

I have sort of asked this question before but re phrasing it I now have a NDX / XP5 XS setup. I am considering adding a DAC to this setup principally to improve the sound of ripped CDs. I have a budget of 2-3K and would consider 2nd hand DACs I have in mind Chord Hugo(2?), Exogal Comet plus, T+A 8 DSD or Moon Neo 280D I currently use a Synology NAS but may upgrade to a Melco N1A in the future. I know the best answer is to demo, but I was wondering what peoples thoughts are regarding getting...

Calling Synology/MinimServer users. The album art, as displayed on iPhone/iPad, latest IOS, latest Naim App version, is either absent, or mismatched, apparently at random........ All album art is correctly displayed in iTunes, well it would be wouldn't it? Any thoughts, excluding re-ripping all albums greatly appreciated. KR, J

Hello, received my Uniti Core today – have 3 issues at the moment. Will post topics separately for convenience... 3) Can't access folders (Downloads) on the Core I would like to access the Downloads folder (where imported music is placed) from my Mac (PC). The iOS app "sees" the Core perfectley, an Importing music from a NAS works just fine – therefore network (settings) should be fine. However: when I enter common credentials on my mac like afp://10.10.20.50 or smb://10.10.20.50 the Core...

Hi Naim I was wondering if you have any plans to introduce Qobuz support to your streamers, 24 bit streaming through my NDX sounds like hifi heaven Thanks Neil ndx/282/hi-cap/300/A6R

Everyone, after the trial period on a Tidal, I decided not to continue with the subscription. Based on what I gather from theTidal website, once that happens my account become inactive. However, I am still get this irritating login pop up screen every time I access my Naim app. I have to close the pop up before the app allows me to use the app! It only happens on my iPad and not my iphone. Anyone has a similar experience? How do I get rid of it?

I was ripping CDs on my unitiserve, superuniti system this afternoon when I got a glitch on one CD - the CD was ejected from the unitiserve but it looked liked it hadn't fully ripped on the app. I switch off the unitiserve and updated the app. All seemed well. I could call up previously ripped CDs but then when I tried to rip another CD I got the message No music store could be located to... how do I remedy this? Nigel

Having ranted on a week or so ago about the issues with the Qobuz Desktop player, and their Window 8+ 'appy' thing not working at all with Windows 10, I thought as things have improved significantly this week I should update fellow forum members on the situation. On the verge of reverting back to windows 7, with quite miraculous timing I received an email from Qobuz on Wednesday announcing out of blue a new player application for PC and MAC. From the start I thought it all looked very...

What's the difference between - an NDX streaming music from a server to its sp/dif output, and - the HDX/US/Core accessing music on the same server and outputting this to sp/dif? E.g., are there different buffering schemes in operation? I'd be most grateful for a tecchie explanation! S.

SInce Naim app for IOS is upgrade to v5.4, I'm keep loosing connection between 272 and NAS (272 display no network) To reconnect I need to reinitialise the 272. Is this just me or is there a setting I miss, (or do I just have to wait for version 5.5 - Only thingthat is changed is the IOS version, before I have never had this experience)

I opened an iso using JRiver Media Centre 22 and converted the files to flac. These were moved into the US download folder. I can see the files in the Naim app but get the message 'can't play, track skipped'. Any ideas?

Hello folks. Just joined the forum today. I'm an IT numpty, so apols in advance for asking dumb questions and, quite probably, going over old ground, but I'm in a bind and need help. I stream FLAC audio from a QNAP TS-412 NAS to a Qute and a UnitiLite controlled from the streamer remote or N-stream on an Ipad / Iphone. From the outset I used the TwonkyMedia server that came with the QNAP. I recognise some the Twonky problems folks posted on the forum, but on the whole it's been OK and if it...

Tidal has just announced MQA Audio - do Naim rate this? Will it become available on Naim stremers?
musicfan51Posted: 05 January 2017Last Updated: 17 February 2017
I see Tidal has MQA. I know the Naim streamers don't decode it. But I had read it still sounds better even if not decoded by your streaming DAC. Can you actually access the MQA recordings with the Naim app in anyway?

Its not often I stick my head above the parapit for fear of being shot down but I have to share this story. I started on the Naim ladder with a 112 150 setup and built on that over the years to the heady heights of CDS3, XPS2, 252, SCap2, 250.2 so, I think I am aware of what a good system can sound like. Over the past few years, like many others for one reason or another, I have downsized my equipment before settling on a fabulous SNait2. I stream from a Synology NAS which is in my office...

For 4 months now I have a Naim NDX, sounds great, except for some random tick/noise. This tick/noise is best described as a needle produces on a record with a turntable. It's totally random, but persists more if I have the Naim App open on the iPad. My setup is NDX -> (din-din) -> NAC202 -> HiCap -> NAP200, Network part; QNAP TP-231 or Raspberry PI 3 both with Asset Upnp -> Cisco 2960 -> NDX (the RPI3 reads music stream from the QNAP). I have already tried the ground /...

I have made a backup of my Uniti Core on to a external USB hard disk. I chose the format for Apple, but it seems my MacBook Pro is not able to read the disk. It always ask me to initialize the disc. Am I doing something wrong?

Hello everyone, Apoligies in advance if this has been asked before, I did search but couldn't see a definitive answer on the subject. Currently using my iPhone and Tidal HiFi I download music to an offline playlist in Tidal HiFi subscription. In light of me seeing that Tidal masters has come out on the desktop app only at the moment it prompted me to think, is the iPhone lightning port capable of outputting 24/192? Is it even capable of outputting 16/44? I know there is an opinion out there...

I currently access QOBUZ on my Unitiqute by using Bubbleupnp sever on my qnap and Linn kazoo control app on my ipad. This does work very well. However, I would prefer to use the QOBUZ app. I could do this by casting to a Chromecast audio connected optically to the qute. Is this a good way to go? I am happy with the sq through bubble and won't go with the Chromecast if it compromises sq. Thanks for your thoughts Mark
