Streaming Audio

HI everyone, I wonder if someone might advise me as a newbie (and, frankly, with limited technical knowledge!) I have a MuSo which streams music from my laptop via Asset software that the good people at Naim support talked me through in terms of installation etc. So far, so good... It's been suggested to me that a NAS drive would be a good thing to have. It makes sort of sense - my wife and I occasionally share files for our small business and the number of photos I have on my laptop is,...

Having purchased a Muso a few years ago primarily as a sound bar for our TV, about a year ago I started to stream from a Nas drive using my CDs and a ripper called XLD. As flac files. Thoroughly enjoying how much music has laid dormant over the years just by randomly picking out stuff via the app. I have very slowly made the odd purchase on HD tracks downloading flac files. I currently have an olive CDX & XPS but it is never used much. Looking to trade in. I am primarily a vinyl user and...

Please respond and I'll share with him. TIA. I have a Naim Unitiserve HD unit and Naim Superuniti Amp. On starting up both units they connect OK but if left switched on they lose the connection and I have to physically close down an d restart the...

I have searched some forum threads concerning this topic but seems still open. The NDAC processes DSD 128 as others do but the NDX will not pass through. Can someone in the know advise what is preventing? Hardware, software or combination and is Naim able to correct to allow DSD 128 and possibly above.

Hello, my Core fails to recognise/display composer & genre. 1000+ Disks imported from my NAS plus a couple CDs freshly ripped with the Core itself. All the same misbehaviour. Artist & album are OK. Triple checked Metadata (on the Mac and the NAS plus the Core) with Metadatics – all information is there all set/transferred correctly to the Core. It's just the app that does not display the entries at all.... Naim App it 5.4 and v1.2.5798 are both up-to-date. Any help/advice...

Hi Currently using a Quote 2 , am I right in assuming that when I use the coax digital in, the signal is not reclocked or "cleaned up" in any way, but with a Superuniti it is? Best Chris

Hopefully I have posted this in the correct area...I have just set up my Core (fitted with recommended Seagate hard drive). So far I have ripped directly to this, then I have imported music from my Mac Pro (wirelessly). In both instances the music files are showing on my IPad naim app, however, when I look at the Core on my network (via mac) the unit is showing as expected as well as two files 'downloads' and 'music', however, I cannot save files to these and none of the imported files are...

I recently got a Core and want to import my music from my NAS to the onboard HDD on the Core. The Core is able to see the relevant folder from the Synology NAS but when I click the "import music" icon, all I see the spinning wheel but nothing gets imported. Anyone has any ideas?

I've a QNAP NAS with a folder called NAIM Rips which I use to store CDs ripped from an HDX. Another folder called Naim downloads is used to store downloaded music. However on the nServe app the downloaded files show the artist name but the album titles are all called "Naim downloads" i.e. the folder name. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong and how to fix it?

Ever since I upgraded the iOS App to version 5.4, I see the following two problems: When opening the App, it finds my ND5 XS and then says that it cannot connect because another App is already connected (or words to that effect). This doesn't happen every time I connect and is fixed by re-trying once or twice. I am the only user of the App. When using my NAS UPnP streamer generated "most played" playlist, if I touch the three dots alongside the playlist in the App and then "play", the tracks...

Having just unpacked my shiny new Core, I am faced with some choices about storage. Core has an internal tray that slides out the rear and can take a 3.5" HD or 2.5" SSD. The Core comes with a bag with some HD screws in it, so mounting it is the task of a couple of minutes from start to finish. It can use USB, and/or network storage too. This lends the obvious question about what storage should I use on Core? Where should it be? What are the upsides and downsides? As one who has just bought...

Move with the times, that's what I thought. Leave behind the supremely stable and perfectly working Windows 7 arrangement I had, and move on. Yes, despite the absurd and unusable Windows 8 effort, I decided to give the big 10 a try. Does it work? Yes. Does it work with anything I personally require it to? No. It may suprise readers at this point that the gripe here is not with Microsoft, it's with Qobuz. The situation is that the Qobuz Desktop app when in WASAPI exclusive mode (bit-perfect...

I was never very happy with the HDX's meta data accuracy of classical music rips, see details here: HDX best match when ripping CDs So maybe a Unity Core would be a great upgrade option? However I have some important questions also how to migrate: is the ripping engine enhanced regards meta data handling so that my issues with the classic CDs are being fixed? Was a change of that logic implemented (from HDX Whitepaper): "In many cases there are a range of possibilities for AMG matches. Logic...

Introduction In the last two days I have reached a point where I am actually HAPPY with what I am hearing, but it has taken MONTHS, and has not been without missteps. I suspect though that these solutions do not have universal applicability. You can have all the right equipment and still end up with less than good music. This post covers my attempts to get good digital sound outside of a Naim system, and so if you are a full Naimite there is probably less likely to be useful thoughts and...

Does anyone know the law (if any) or has experience of the questions around ownership of albums bought from www download vendors ?? 1/ I know Qobuz, HighResAudio, HDT etc will allow more than one download of a purchased album: is there a time limit or numbers of times they are obliged to allow that. 2/ Is it possible to add another e-mail address to an existing one on your www vendor account, & does the same apply to an overseas e-mail address.

The HDX2 would likely build on the Core's architecture but at full width, colour display & remote, and possibly DAC. The NDX2 will build on the new streaming board and colour display from the uniti series but at classic level. If this leaves the space for a shoebox size 'uniti stream' (the atom with Digital output and without amp section) remains to be seen. Though it's interesting that Digital outputs are missing throughout from the new uniti range (except for uniti Core). Whilst most...

I have v5.1 of Asset running on my Windows 10 'Media' PC. The Upnp option in the app shows two instances of Asset server from that PC. One is fine, and the other is empty - no albums, artists or anything. I've re-booted the Windows PC but still both instances re-appear. What should I be doing or checking?

Just upgraded from a QNAP TS 412 to a QNAP TS 251+ The 412 is about 3-4 year old now and doesn't have upgradable RAM which is 256mb and is 32 bit. The 251+ is brand new today and supports 8GB and has a 2GHz quad-core processor and runs 64bit. The difference isn't small..... I'm also running 2x1TB SanDisk ULTRA II SSD's which I had in the 412 for about 6 weeks. The sound is just much more focused, deeper and has a more solid wider soundstage. Also the way the Naim app reads and catalogues...

I am using the Naim app on my iPAD to control my Naim ND5 XS streamer. Over the last week or two, I have downloaded and installed several updates; at present I am running version 5.4. Despite having what I believe to be the most recent version, I continue to have problems getting back to uPnP from iRadio. When on my iRadio page, despite using the menu or home option in the upper left corner of my screen, I find I toggle back and forth between two iRadio pages. I have to turn the iPAD off...

Hello, My music library has approx 1000 folders. The Naim app (view by folder) lists approximately half of them - tried different devices (Android, iOS) and different DLNA servers (Twonky, Plex) on NAS hardware. However, Bubble uPNP on (Android) lists all my entries. Has anyone got an idea ? Thanks Benoit (SuperUniti, latest firmware and Harbeth P3ESR)

Here's a weird problem... I am unable to get my NDX or Unitilite to play a track over upnp using the Naim app on my phone. When I try, I get an error on the streamer display that says "Can't Play / track skipped". When I use the streamer remote, selected songs play without issue. When I use the Naim app on my iPad, songs play without issue. So it's clearly not a upnp issue, or a network problem. I've tried shutting down my iPhone, trashing and reinstalling the app, and updating to the latest...
