I've just done a complete backup (4,300 cds) to a Synology. I noticed in n-Serve/Maintenance/Backup Scheduler/Backup Logs the there were 27,000 errors - although no errors were shown during backup in Backup Monitor. However when I try to view the Log file n-Serve fails to respond (spinning beachball) and has to be restarted via Activity Monitor. Is this typical?

Windows 10/dBpoweramp/Asset uPnP/QNAP/UniteQute2/iPadPro I generally prefer the Album / Artist display but I have 3 main issues: Firstly for compilations I would generally prefer for the album to be displayed once under its title rather than for it to feature under every artist that has a track on the compilation. Changing Album Artist doesn't seem to help. I can change the Artist to the name of the album but ideally I would like each track to display the artist. Is the only way of achieving...

Hi all, my first post as a happy new user of a Mu-So and QB that arrived yesterday. I've searched the forum but have been unable to find any relevant posts and so would appreciate any insights from fellow Mu-So users. I'm able to utilise multiroom for Iradio and Spotify sources, using the icon on the app. When playing from a Bluetooth source however, I don't seem to have the option to cast. Do people believe is down to a technical constraint of Bluetooth and if not, is it likely to be...

Could someone who uses Amazon Glacier for archival backup of their music library please share approximate cost data for retrieving data from the service? Any other comments would be appreciated as well. Coleman

This one is driving me mad! I have a Naim NDX connected to an AssetNAS box (Network Attached Storage) running AssetNAS software. I access the NAS using Windows Home Server 2011 (WHS) which was preinstalled on the AssetNAS box. (I use a Macbook so do this via remote desktop.) So, tonight I was checking one of the folders through WHS and stupidly changed the Media Library Sharing setting for Music to 'On' just to see what would happen! I immediately changed it back to 'Off' and clicked...

Hi all. I run a Mac Mini with all my music on an external drive with another drive plugged in for backing up music. I have a switch plugged into my (yuk!!) BT Hub 5. The NDS is connected via an ethernet to the switch with the Mac running latest version on Asset. Over the weekend my music playing would stop for no apparent reason. The NDS reported initialising input then would find Asset and I could then located tracks and play again. Then after no real time pattern would cut out again. The...

I've started to back up my ripped cds from a US to a Synology. Set-up was more straightforward than I feared, by the way. Another 22 hours to go I reckon, although the progress bar on n-Serve/Maintainence/Backup Monitor is not showing anything even though about 15% has been copied. Once this is done can I also use the Synology for other back ups, like Time Machine?

Hi, hope to get some help here. What cabling is needed and where or how to hook it up. Also what needs to be turned on to use the HT bypass on the 272. Thanks for any help on this.

Very odd, but as of this morning my Unitiserve is unable to find about half of my music collection stored on my NAS drives. When selecting a search by Artists, the menu has now been condensed to AB artists, CD artists, EF artists etc.,when it previously had separate search files for each individual letter. Many artists now don't appear at all. If I stream directly from the NAS drives, all the music is still there, but it seems the Unitiserve can't now find it. Any thoughts appreciated...

I just brought the Peter Gabriel album "Us". This includes a code to download a high res version of the album from the B&W music store.. a choice of CD quality or 24 bit 96 MHZ WAV. I of course chose the 24 bit version on the assumption that this would be playable on my NAC272... but when I to play these track I get the message "Unrecognised format". According to the manual the NAC 272 should be able to handle this format.. but no luck.. I am streaming the files from a NAS... and when I...

I have a first generation naim uniti mated to some Dynaudio Focus 160. Am very happy with the overall sound quality however on the odd occasion when I want to crank the volume up for an extended period the uniti runs out off puff. Literally the music stops and display announces 'too hot'. Just wondering what my upgrade options are? I like the cd feature of my uniti combined with streaming options so is there a power amp option that would complement existing set up? appreciate all suggestions.

Here's a question for the airplay experts on the board. When I attempt to stream from my phone to my muso, if I bring up control centre to select my airplay destination, I don't see the muso... but I do see an airport express that doesn't exist on my network (it may have existed at one point in the distant past). However... if I go into my airplay options within a specific app (iTunes for example).. if I play a track and then select airplay from within the app... I do see the option for the...

I'm in the market for an airplay receiver that will connect to a unitilite via digital optical input so that my spouse can use our unitilite in the tv room to play content off her phone. I'm aware that an Apple TV will do this... but I don't really need all the functionality that device offers. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions about what other devices I should be considering.

The Tidal dropouts are back. Within last week I have been experiencing numerous dropouts with Tidal on a mu-so. In US with Comcast. This was common place earlier in 2016, and I considered giving up, but the firmware update a few months ago seemed to fix it and I was delighted. I know there are numerous factors at play, i.e., latency etc, but it was so nice hearing the naim sound for hours on end. I am a Naim devotee since my first Naim Nait2 in 1992. Just wanted to throw this out there to...

I have red a lot, especially from Simon in Surfolk, about the cisco switches and their SQ they can provide with good Ethernet clock. Currently I'm using a TP-Link 3210 between my Raspberry PI (3) / NAS and NDX. It sounds good but I would like to try the possible difference with a cisco 2960. I can acquire a C2960 PD without a PS. It can be powered with a external PS or with PoE. Has someone tried this? Which electrical feeding of the switch is preferable? Thanks for your replays in advance.

hello, I've gone through the long thread about the new uniti but couldn't find an answer to that one. Can you connect a blu-ray/sacd player with HDMI output to the naim HDMI input and use it to play an SACD into one of the new uniti? Thanks

Similar issues I guess, but in my case new browser updates have removed ability to use my HDX via the PC. Using FireFox or Chrome browsers just reports [Plugin Not Supported]. I have tried to install Flash Player extensions and even temporarily disabling all the security warnings (usually a very silly thing) but nothing helps. Is there a Naim plugin that will work with either of my browsers? Thanks.

Purely hypothetical question.... From the (just bloody awful now) Naim website, the NDS seems not to be supplied with any Burndy cables and the 555PS doesn't either (whereas the XPS / XP5 do have one supplied). Am i reading thIs this right ?

Introduction In another thread the topic of adding a network isolator was raised, I had been following a thread on CA and had already order some bits and so volunteered to post some impressions. The theory, as I understand it, is to add some hardware to block unwanted noise from entering the audio part of your network. This can be achieved in two broad ways: 1. Use a network isolator. A number are available, such as those used for hospitals or those made for HiFi, including a unit by SOtM.

I'm looking for a way to download music onto my NAS and am therefore reading a bit into that subject. A quick forum search showed me that - early 2015 - people were complaining about the Qobuz download speed and had several issues. Hence my question: can you advise me were I'd buy my digital music? Furthermore: how do I download the files? I mean: can I save them directly onto my computer, or do I need to install a separate program (e.g. torrent client)? This last option would give me a...

Don't know if this is ok by Forum rules, didn't really see anything in there to ban it but I'm sure the moderator will check ... I know some of you are Vodka ethernet cable users and came across this cable dissection on the Ars Technica web site that might be interesting; I make no comment as it is outside my knowledge. http://arstechnica.co.uk/gadgets/2015/07/gallery-we-tear-apart-a-340-audiophile-ethernet-cable-and-look-inside/
