Setting up gear in new room again!! I have a spare shelf on my rack. Is it advisable to put the router and switch on the bottom shelf, will the router cause any degradation in sound. This is on the main CU and the hifi has a separate CU Thanks Stuart

Hi all, I have 1 TB music (flac/dsd etc) on a hard drive playing via jRiver on my Superunity (using DLNA). I use Tidal and Spotify as well on the superunity (the first for myself mainly and spotify my girlfriend likes) for the music i do not own. Now i am thinking to save money by going to apple-music (already using matchmusic for syncing with my iphone/ipad). Apple music combines the best of both world for me. I can play "cd" quality music from apple-music (for music i do not own) vs...

I'm having some problems with my Qute losing its wireless connection. Every couple of days it just seems to drop it - I've no idea why. A wired connection isn't possible at the moment. I decided to try different set up for my TalkTalk router, to switch to using it in bridge mode and to introduce an older Netgear router to hang off it. What's the best way to do this? I can see how to change the TalkTalk settings to change it into bridge mode, but I'm not sure how to configure the Netgear. Do...

I'm giving Tidal a go using the 3 month trial. I have Tidal on my PC, Mac and iPad. I also have a NAS, where I keep my main music library. I have been impressed with the quality of Tidal, having used Spotify and iTunes streaming previously. I transferred playlists from Spotify, my own collection and iTunes and actually, very few songs were missing. I would like to download new music and playlist songs, rather than directly streaming them. Can I download songs to my PC and play them locally...

I have had many trouble free years with my unitiserve HDD 2GB but it is now not allowing me to turn off using the Naim logo on the front and I can't access it with NDS or via the nail app I turn off with the switch at the back and it is ok for a few hours then it disappears from view on the NDS / app and can't be turned off using the front illuminated logo Any help appreciated - it's embarrassing to have my Hifi not working with all the youngsters having to use Spotify instead - ughhh

I had to replace my hard drives in my NAS, which my dealer did and transferred my music to new ones. When got home all music is there but can't access my playlists from the I pad through naim app although the picture of the album is there says "can't play track" is there any way of getting links to work again or do I have to start again?

Hi all, New here - I wonder if I could ask a few VERY basic questions before I pull the trigger on a Naim MuSo purchase. I'm looking at moving away from 1,000 CDs on a separates system over to a 'tidier' solution after I move house. I love the look of the MuSo & seems that sounds won't be a let down after a switch (I looked at the Ruark R4 system & that's too much of a jump down to me). But a few questions... 1. I assumed that I could just dump all 1,000 CDs in 320kbs onto an...

OK. Let's talk about upgrading. First I am not rich. Currently I have a well used UnitiServe, a SimAudio DAC Moon Series 380D with a pre-amp module and a Musical Fidelity M6PRX Power Amplifier. About 3 NASes (lots of HI-RESes and RIPS). I would like the Classic XS - however I would need a preamp, power supply to go along with it and of course a new DAC. Honestly, that takes a mortgage. So what's a good road. Something that upgrades the SQ and allows the use of the unit serve. A NAIM streamer...

I have sold my Unitiserve. Before I decide to purchase a Core server, I want to find out if I could live with my Synology NAS only. (In the start I used Synology along with a Mac mini) I have copied the waw files from Serve to the NAS, it took me two days. How do I convert them easily to flac without the need of retagging? After some search here I also wonder if the waw to flac convert should have been done in Unitiserve, before copying to NAS? Will appreciate some inputs. Stover

I did a re-scan on my ND5 XS DAB radio today because I knew that some some stations had moved. Prior to the re-scan I could receive plenty of stations without problem; only a few showed "No Signal". After the re-scan I can only receive one station (a local pop music station - Wave 105). During the rescan the streamer said that it had found 48 stations but there is no sign of them; only Wave 105! I have unplugged the antennae and restarted the ND5 XS but it makes no difference. Any help would...

I would like to replace my actual preamp (Exposure 3010S2) + DAC (Cambridge Audio 851D) setup with a one box solution. I have no interest in DLNA streamers since I have a silent "audiophile" PC close to my stereo feeding my DAC through USB. Would it make sense to use the NAC 172XS only through it's digital input ? Would it sound the same as using it as a streamer ? If so, which input would be the best ? SPIDF or Toslink ? Someone told me the digital inputs of the NAC 172XS sound inferior to...

I have seen MQA articles online, including a new one on Stereophile magazine. I don't understand it really, it is lossy yet manipulates the signal to improve it. Wiki have a page on it also. Is it trying to take an Apple approach to ensure that every major brand must carry it in a hardware or software addition to each streaming device, ie NDS/NDX "with MQA" AND the ONLY way to hear it is through that equipment and on subscription? What does that mean for every brand like Naim or Chord for...

I've been reading up recently on this topic, and it appears that a significant number of users claim greatly improved SQ when using a 3rd party ps with their Unitiserve. What is unclear to me is whether or not this applies when using the US purely as a ripper and server, or when using as a 'player' via spdif connection and a dac, or both. I very rarely use it as the latter, so my question is, before spending between £500 and £1,000, would I notice significant improvement in the SQ of the...

I have recently run in to an issue where the iOS app can no longer see my Muso. NetAnalzer Pro finds it, and the Muso shows up as an AirPlay target from the same device. It's only the Naim app that's failing. I'm hoping this is a known issue. UniFi Network Kit, iPad Pro, iOS 10.1.1, Naim App v4.9, talking to a MuSo Qb, v1.5 Ta.

HI everybody, I'm appealing to this forum to find a explanation to this simple fact : If I make a easy test with A (wifi) and B (wired:ethernet) (could be run without interruptions) 20 people out of 20 will think the B (ethernet) will sound better.. and they are right... but why ? If I send a copy of a word document over wi-fi or Ethernet I expect them to be the same , they usually are ;-) I have small but really loved system compose of a unitiqute, a pair of ls 50 from Kef and driven by a...

Help/reassurance please! I connect my Qute by wire to a TP Link RE1750 Range Extender. This is dual band 2.4 and 5GHz. I do so because if I wirelessly connect to the router (BT Homehub6) , the microwave in the kitchen (between the router ad the Qute) cuts it out intermittently when it is on. A wired Cat6 connection is not possible at the moment The Extender has the same network name as the router and broadcasts on both 2.4 and 5Ghz. This seems to work fine with no breakouts. The Extender web...

my new NDX has now warmed up and is sounding wonderful. I'm loving the sound from and user friendliness of Tidal too. I'm just wondering, what are the best tracks you've heard on there and why..?

Hello, my Naim App (version 4.9) on an Ipad is working generally well together with the Twonky Server (8.2.1) running on a QNAP NAS (TS-212 P, version 4.2.2). The Upnp compatibility mode i n the App is disabled. Problem: after some hours the Twonky disappears out of the App. It is to be seen again when I enable the compatibility mode. But this is not very helpful. After rebooting the NAS everything is o.k. again - for some hours. What is to be done to get a stable performance? Thomas, Germany

Hi I am a new purchaser of a Uniti2 from an approved retailer (I am behind/slow but it was an ex display model ). I realise this question has been asked before but, previous threads are closed: Is there any way at all of adjusting the length of time that the alarm will go on for? If not, I am hoping it isn't too late for Naim to address this issue in their next update .

I have a 272/US/Unitiqute arrangement for my two music systems. Currently the three Naim pieces are connected to a 4 port switch with the 4th port running back to my Apple Extreme router. In playing music, does the musical information from the US travel to the router and then back to the 272/UQ or does the switch allow the musical information to travel directly between the Naim pieces? Ultimately wondering about the necessary cable quality between the switch and the router - it's a long run...

Hi all, hope someone can help, I have recently purchased a Mu-so for my dining room and a Mu-so Qb for the kitchen, to go with my Superuniti in the lounge. I found the multiroom function good but does not seem to work with my high resolution (typically 24bit x 96kHz) FLAC files. If I initiate the play from the Superuniti I get a message on the app "Check power and network connections and stop HD audio playback". Each of the three units will play the 24 x 96k files OK simultaneously if...

Apologies if this has been covered couldn't find anything with a search. I found tonight reviews for the new KEF LS50 wireless speakers that appear to have a pre/DAC built in and can take up to 24/192 files for playback. Is there a tidy system to be built with these speakers and the new Uniti range due out soon? What could I be missing with a Uniti streaming to these speakers either via Ethernet/CAT6 or perhaps even wirelessly?
