Streaming Audio

I am getting thoughts together for adding a support shelf for my NDX. It will go where my trusty ol' Rega Planar-3 is located (yes its sell the vinyl time) & is the top of a very heavy purpose built audio cabinet. The cabinet top is recessed 18mm & that will be the total depth of the new support shelf, maybe <18mm but not >18mm. NDX also means ND anything or any streamer type unit, its going to happen anyway (sometime) so I would like to make it to a design that works &...

Hi Folks I've just booted up a new Raspberry Pi to trial running Asset on it. The Samsung M3 slimline 2TB portable hard drive that I bought to hold my music files isn't recognised. The drive is fine - my W10 PC sees it - but the Pi struggles. I suspect it doesn't provide enough juice through the USB port to do so. It does read a 1GB pen drive. So, for the folks who run Pi systems, which portable hard drives do you use successfully with it? I have 20k of music files so size is quite...

Hello, I still cannot get my album art working in the app. Ripped a Cold Play album...did not work. Can see the image jpg after the track list. Tried to empty image cache in the app. Still dead. Anyone out there with a distinct suggestion? Since Sincerely, Thomas

I bought a new Muso QB a few days ago and started the set-up procedure. I read the single sheet explaining what to do and no matter what I did, I couldn't figure out the colour of the "flashing status indicator" which I wrongly imagined to be the volume knob or the light around the base. Those were the only lights I could see. It honestly took me about 10 minutes before I realised there was a light on the BACK of the unit. Call me old fashioned but, shouldn't there be some reference to the...

probably a daft question, but is there any way to stop my Uniti 2 "Muting" 30 minutes after alarm activation?

Has anyone, having seen the new Uniti range, well pictures at least, decided to order one of the existing Uniti's, perhaps to match their current Naim setup, before they vanish from the face of the earth, or at least to that well known auction site at inflated prices with a 'rare' or 'hard to find' tag? Just wondered what folk thought of the new style vs the old? Personally I'm tempted by a UQ2 for my study....... KR, J

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but I seem to have an issue with my Naim App on my iPhone. On my iPad when I select an Artist, each Album is shown separately. On my iPhone all I see is the individual tracks, not in album order. Is there a setting I've missed? Do others have this problem? For info I'm using a 272 and a Muso with a Melco UPnP hard drive - not that I think this has any influence on this. Thanks

Most of my collection of music play with m3u or CUE files from my cd rips just fine. However, some don't load using BdpowerAmp ripping software and minimserver. I'm missing the list of songs and only show individual songs. This problem only happens when I try to rip music data from my homemade discs (with sometimes incompatible metadata). I've tried making a new Cue file using foobar to no avail. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks

Came across this website recently. It collates the various HD downloads available, from whom, sample and bitrate, and, best of all, cost! http://www.findhdmusic.com Might be of interest.

Dear all! Including album art has until recently worked perfectly. I Use dBpoweramp to rip my CDs (FLAC with meatadata and album cover) and store them on my NAS wich is connected to my Unity. Some 50% appear without album cover on my Naim-app (iPhone6). Does anyone have a clue? Sincerely, Thomas

I would appreciate some help! I can't get the server (NS01) recognised by the Set IP tool. Running Windows 10 and have removed firewalls. Router is a BT homehub 5 and using a netstreams switch. NS01 is recognised by the desktop client and I can access it using its (static) IP address. Wanted to try downloading the latest version of the Set IP Tool but can't find one on the Naim website, just the Naim desktop client. Have tried switching everything off, on etc. Any ideas?

dear community, since the Naim app is not capable to handle shuffle and playlists are limited to 500 entries I'm looking for an alternative control point (android & osx) to control mu-so and streaming from upnp server (minimserver). Kinsky android app can connect to the mu-so and server but unable to switch tracks on the mu-so. Any hints? PS the Naim app is horrible.. is buggy (sometimes mu-so disappears), the features are below average..

As my system engineer is irradiating himself in Chernobyl, I think we might need some assistance, so a question here might help us when he returns. A few weeks back I asked to increase my storage from my HP proliant 2 x 2 TB setup to 2 x 4TBs, as I'm contemplating going all digital and would need to rip a load more CDs. It was felt that maybe a newer NAS would be preferable so a Ready NAS 104 and the 2x4tb drives was installed, left running for a couple of days to transfer data. This is where...

Currently I'm in the unusual position of having both these players (waiting for a house move when the ND5 will go to a new house & new owner), so I've done the obvious thing... I wired the ND5 to my network switch and to analogue 1 on the 272, and played the same tracks. Interesting: My observations, in my system ... Does the streamer/DAC of the 272 beat the ND5? Yes. Is the difference night and day? No, but there is quite a clear difference, quite subtle but also quite clear. Does it...

I'm struggling with a problem & running out of time today, so hoping a forum'ite has an easy answer. I've just downloaded a FLAC album & found dBpoweramp will not convert it to WAV - or MP3 - so its probably copy protected. Any idea's ????

A very basic question, I know, yet I'm missing something obvious. The iphone 6 is using IOS10. It also has the current Naim app on it, which is picking up the Muso-Qb perfectly as both are connected and recognised on the same wifi network. Where I'm falling over is the use of Airplay. Following the Naim App and instructions on the Naim website, I just cannot see how to select "Airplay" anymore from itunes. There is something called Airplay mirroring, but this links the iphone to an Apple TV,...

I have just bought a muso Qb, which is a thing of beauty and wonder for which I have holiday plans, but I notice that the same file (a 24 bit 96 kHz WAV of Snowflake from Kate Bush's album 50 Words for Snow), sounds completely different between the USB socket (playing it from a Sandisc USB stick) and streamed from my Unitiserve. This is exactly the same file, saved in the two places when I downloaded it, and in both cases the Naim app reports it while playing as a 96kHz WAV. The upnp...

My Synology NAS drive is nearly full. I'm seeking advice on how to expand it? It has 2x 3TB drives in a raid array. I assume I need bigger drives, I want to double the capacity. Advice welcome.

Hi, and another numpty question. I am using a new NDX with QNAP NAS. The Naim APP/nStream is detecting the server and NDX fine. All works fine there. Problem is the N-Serve is not detecting the server. Seems odd one but not the other. Would love any suggestions? Thanks all.

It seems to be received wisdom on the forum that Tidal sounds less good than streaming from a local NAS unit. What are the particular issues that folks have with the sound quality - and in what ways it is inferior? I ask as I'm listening to Yello 'Toy' via Tidal just now and it sounds superb. also, if I switch between NAS and Tidal for other albums I own the differences are vanishingly small - and not nearly as significant as the difference between masterings for example. Views? G

Hi there, I am thinking of getting an NDX or NDS. I'd like to ask what kind of server set up people are using. I currently have all my Flaws on a Synology so the storage side is already sorted out. What I would be interested in knowing is which kind of router or ethernet switch people are suing to maintain maximum sound quality? I currently have a BT Hub and Apple Airport Express and Airport Extreme. Is this sufficient or should I be looking at other things? Kind Regards

Perhaps it's just me, but compared with Spotify there seems a distinct lack of Tidal playlists posted on here, other forums and the web in general. I am just wondering why people seem reluctant to share? I find them a great way of discovering new music. I have tried most of the ones of interest on Tidal and these have proved a descent resource. However, I do wish there wasn't such an influence on hip-hop/rap, but guess that's Jay Z using it as a platform to push his fellow artists. I am more...
