Streaming Audio

......the Oppo 105D. Really? Surely NOT! When I first got the 105D I played with it as a DAC and my general impression was ....blah, OK but nothing to write home about. A few weeks ago my NS01 shuffled off this mortal coil and so I was left bereft and with a decision, repair the NS01 or look elsewhere? In fact I did both. I bought a Sonore microRendu (mR), more on this in another thread. In the meantime I: Powered down and disconnected my Bel Canto DAC; Sent my NS01 in for repair, sucker I...

I'm confused with some posts that seem to recommend putting a streamer between the UnitiServ and DAC. My US sits next to the DAC V1 and is directly connected to it via a cable; I just don't see how connecting the US through a network, adding an extra streamer component that will read its audio over an Ethernet connection before presenting it to the DAC V1 will in any way help the SQ. Could someone please explain to me, if I have picked up this recommendation correctly, how this works ???

I have a Superuniti and use a computer on the side for watching movies. The computer is connected through Meridian Explorer USB-DAC fed into the SU. Now I am thinking about replacing the SU with a SN2 and a good dac, maybe a Chord 2Qute, Chord Mojo or Hugo to connect through the computer and my QNAP NAS. My question is if you can just use a computer for streaming music in the same way as I use my SU? I have heard that you should be able to do this but I wonder then if there is a compromise...

My Muso is positioned right next to my modem and indicates it has a wifi signal (when it isn't hard wired in) and even though if I select internet radio and it will play, through the Naim app it will always say "no rooms found" when trying to control via the app. yes I can connect via Ethernet but find it strange why it won't connect via wifi when sat next to it. I am short on Ethernet ports with everything else. Using with ios. Even now when I have connected with cable it still isn't...

Hi everyone, I tried to install both a Qnap 251+ and Asset to my system (SN2 + NDX) last sunday and I thought I succeeded. BUT: on my Naim iPhone App, 2 servers appear: "QNAP-HS-251 NAS" and "Asset UPnP". The few CDs I've ripped only appear in the first server, but not in "Asset". I'm really not a geek, so I guess I've installed something the wrong way. I remember I was offered a choice of installing Asset either on my MacBook or directly on the QNAP and I chose the latter. Could the mistake...

having heard good things about microRendu and Roon, i'm thinking of ditching my Sonos Connect. that said, i'm confused about what hardware i'd need to get up and running. i just ordered a Synology DS216j NAS, thinking that i could use it to host Roon along with CD rips, but apparently it lacks the needed computing power (per another thread on here). i have a MacBook Air that i could use to host Roon, but i wouldn't want to have to use a wired connection between my laptop and the microRendu...

I hope this isn't an FAQ or in the wrong place. I have a simple question I think. How do I get double albums, for example, to play in the right order! Today I bought the deluxe edition of the Divine Comedy's Foreverland from Qobuz - http://www.qobuz.com/gb-en/album/foreverland-deluxe-the-divine-comedy/5050954436481 . It is the equivalent of 2CDs, one good and one crap. I want it to play the good CD first and then the second one second. My Superuniti has just mixed everything together. I have...

In case you don't read the news or attend to keeping your stuff updated ................ Apple has made available today (this evening EU time) iOS 9.3.5, a security update for iPads Phones & Pods against a sneaky spyware. According to the press " ......... the iOS 9.3.5 upgrade plugs three holes that, according to researchers, are being used right now by the Pegasus surveillance kit – a powerful commercial malware package sold to governments for snooping on dissidents and...

My current digital source(s) are a UnitiServe 2GB, Synology DS415play and an Auralic Aries Mini into an nDAC; downstream are a 282 & 200 feeding Davone Grande speakers. The main purpose of the Aries Mini is to provide Tidal streaming, but it occurs to me that I could simplify things and reduce my box count if I traded it and the nDAC (and perhaps the UnitiServe as well) in on an NDX. My question is: what would this do to the sound quality? Is it a step up, down, or sideways? My dealer is...

The other day I noticed a 'warning' message about Drive 2 in my NAS. I have bought another 3tb WD Red (to match the existing) but I couldn't find any instructions as to how to install it. Anyone done this?

Hello everyone, My system: Mac mini > usb cable > EVO2/Supply2 > BNC cable > Naim DAC I'm looking for an alternative to my current M2Tech combo: hiFace EVO Two/EVO Supply Two. I am very happy with the sound of this combo. But I have a problem: the EVO does not allow native DSD playback via S/PDIF to my Naim DAC. I would like to hear other alternatives that maintain a simiilar level of sound quality and, moreover, allow native DSD playback via S/PDIF. Thanks

But I am sorry - the Naim app is just rubbish. It sucks - I just upgraded (and heavens knows I wish I hadn't) my Android phone to 7.0, and now the Naim app just crashes immediately every time I try to open it. But even before that, it rarely can find the 272 without some sort of histrionics and intervention on my part using the regular Naim remote and so on. By contrast, the SBT and a freeware that run it for my second system work almost every time. With the Naim app, I would say it finds it...

Tidal keeps cutting out via the name app while normal Tidal app streams without problems. Is this just me or is there a bug with the Naim integration?

Apologies for (another) question - I am enjoying my set up with Asset and QNAP 251+ but.... Following a problem last week sorting out artists where I deleted 'The' but still had the artist residing under 'The' = solved by using the sort configuration in Asset and doing a full power down on router, NAS and NDS. Just had a another session of weeding out - changing wrong art, correcting album names and artist and a few "The's" that didn't move as I still had some under say 'Pretty Things and...

I have a Naim DC1 cable and need to know whether it's BNC > Phono or Phono > BNC. The sheath at the BNC end has the writing 'Naim DC1' with the 'N' closest to the BNC plug. Does this confirm it as BNC > Phono? Thanks

Anybody here using a Melco N1A? Can it run Minimserver? If connected directly to a Naim Streamer, as opposed to over the network, what do you use to select your music - Is there an app which runs on Ipad, for instance? I presume that if it is used as a conventional NAS, one can continue to use Nstream. Does this provide any sonic improvement over, say, a Qnap NAS?

Just wondering what people are using and why. I've been running Audirvana now for a week or so and believe I can hear differences over iTunes. Audirvana seems to have better soundstaging but sounds less forgiving. I also seem to prefer Audirvana audio settings on Integer Mode 2 over Integer Mode 1 (brighter, more processed sound). However, no blind testing done so I'm not sure all of this is in my head as in theory I should not hear a difference. Not quite bit perfect - with Hugo TT OS X...

MM/Audivarna -> USB -> Gustard U12 -> Coax -> Hugo -> NAC52 -> NAP135s It was singing beautifully. Certainly better with the Gustard U12 than the optical link which I also have. HOWEVER, it is has stopped working. MM/Audivarna is streaming. Gustard U12 is recognising the bit rate. Hugo is changing colour to correctly indicate the bitrate. Silence!!! When I swap over to the optical input from my CD transport, or swap back to optical input from the MM it works fine. So the...

Hi all, posted about streaming options a while ago and was pointed towards a microrendu. It does look like a good option but I am a bit of a techno idiot. I currently run my Dac v1 from a Sonos. I stream tidal as well as off my WD cloud connected to my router. If I was to replace my Sonos with a microrendu is there any way I can control the system on my tablet without Roon? I really like the sound of Roon but don't like the idea of monthly fee (job not that secure - yes I know I shouldn't be...

For nechno-nerdish readers only The www audio mag "Enjoy The Music" has an article by Dr. Charles Zeilig & Jay Clawson that builds the case that s FLAC degrades previously encoded WAV & a few others. Hi folks. I have the NDX (and SN2/Ovators S-400). My NDX is from 2012 and I have not upgraded it to 24/192, Tidal,Spotify,Bluetooth etc. yet. But, I purchased the Philips AEA2700/12 Blutooth receiver since it has both optical and coax out. Hooked it up using the naim DC-1 (RCA-BNC) to the digital input 1 on the NDX... I am very impressed with the results and I'm enjoying Spotify like never before. It is a vast improvement over using the 3,5mm out on the phone and directly by RCA:S to the...

Hello, I am using BubbleUPnP server on my synology NAS to use streaming from qobuz to my naim uniti. As control apps I have Lumin (iOS), Linn Kazoo (iOS) and BubbleUPnP (Android). This did work fine the last months. But since yesterday the two iOS apps do not offer qobuz playback anymore. What could be the reason? Maybe the new iOS version makes problems? Both apps do find my openhome-uniti device. But they are missing the qobuz menu items to switch to qobuz. BubbleUPnP still does work. Does...

Hi, I apologise in advance for what may be some regularly asked questions, but I have done a few searches. Im by no means an audiophile and my knowledge probably extends to understanding the diff between MP3 and flac files. I had never even heard of Naim having not bought anything high end, but upon reading up on the Muso I am very tempted to buy for a number of reasons, although main one being my flat probably doesn't suit a multiple speaker set up but I want something with a decent sound.
