Streaming Audio

Whereas Tidal mostly worked fine on my MuSo after the firmware upgrade, with my ND5 XS it stops between tracks. Sometimes the ND5 XS will play a few tracks before stopping and sometimes it will play for an hour or more before stopping. The play queue is +/- 175 tracks and is set to shuffle. All that's required to get things going again is to press "play" in the Naim App or the front panel. Note that Tidal is not stopping during tracks as it used to on the MuSo prior to the firmware upgrade.

Does anyone have one of these. Considering this to replace Mac with Hugo/XS2/Proac. I have one big question. I use WAV files as I find them most balanced / natural. Does the Melco retain track names/data if you copy files across from a computer (post ripping). If not can you name the WAVs via Melco machine/app and will it retain track info? Cheers Adam

It's been a while since I last posted on this forum mainly because I have been totally satisfied from my system and have managed to keep the constant upgrading urge under control. Before owning the NDX, I used to own the nDAC and utilized a PC to stream music via cable (with the help of the M2Tech Evo) with great results. Soon the ease of use of the NDX won and after making the change I never looked back. One thing I haven't found a solution for though, is how to stream sound from a youtube...

I'm trying to stream from my MacBook with Asset UPnp to my Unity 2 with either my I pad or iPhone with Naim app . It normally works after a fashion but now the app shows" Finding rooms". Can any one tell me whats wrong?

Hi Just setting up my UnitiQute2, I'm also using a Sonos Connect for Spotify and my existing music library, (when listening multiform) is it best to use an optical or coax cable between the Qute and Sonos, I have a QED Performance Graphite optical cable at present but the connector doesn't seem too positive't in the socket both at the Qute and Sonos end? Are there any recommendations, not too expensive, for either optical or coax cable that fit and perform well? Best Chris

Please be aware that the Naim App is currently not Nougat friendly so if you are eagerly chomping at the bit to update your Android device to the latest and greatest version of Android (assuming that your device manufacturer has issued an update for it) then if you do update to Nougat then your Naim app will no longer run and will crash. Help needed: After succesfully ripping 3 albums (wav) in a row using a ssd us to NAS, I now can't rip, I get "No music store could be located to hold this ripped disc. More disk space may become availabel after encoding of recently ripped albums has completed" According to the desktop client, store is there, and 1 gb availabel, status is "updating", any ideas ?.

Hello. Looking for a little guidance please. My system has been in storage for a few years due to huge revonation project to my home (...needed to hide my precious Naims from dust, crud, bricks and bullets!). Anyway just got my system back up and running again. However my HDX is due an update or two... My question is, with current Firmware Version being 1.7b and with me back in 1.6d territory, what is should my update progression be? Reason for asking is the Naim Customer Support web page...

Following some recent recommendations I recently took the plunge on a Gustard U12 USB-SPDIF convertor to sit betwen my Mac Mini and Chord Hugo, to see if the Hugo's coaxial input was an improvement on the non-galvanically isolated USB input. Hi, I would like to know if it is possible to add extra CD Cover library (in addition to AMG and FreeDb) as there are plenty of my albums which do not have the righ cover. I know that I can upload one by one cover by It would take too much time to do it as I have thousands of CDs..... I installed minimserver on my Qnap NAS. Previously I was using Nserve to select and stream and there were numerous anomalies and missing artwork etc. Minimserver does a much better job and there is no missing artwork now, but.......when I went to select my 24 bit Rubber Soul under Minimserver, it wasn't there! I can see it, and play it, via Nserve, but not via Minimserver. So far, I have not found any other instance of this, but with 400+ 24 bit recordings, it is possible there are others?

I have has an interesting find, Playing music in from you tube hi res channels into my NDS then 552 and so on... I have a smart enabled LG tv and am using an optical out to go into the NDS. Anyone else or thoughts?

I would like to back up my Qnap HS 210 as simply as possible. It has 2x2TB drives which are supposedly mirrored. My tech skills in the area of backups would be very limited, but any suggestions welcome.

I've been doing a bit of sorting out since I got my QNAP (loaded with Asset) a few weeks ago. Just split out 12 Average White Band albums which where across 4 CD compiltaions (the 3 albums on 1 or 2 CD package). So I put all the tracks in separate album folders downloaded the respective artwork and re-ran asset. I currently use an HDX which I'm planning to replace with an NDS. I'm keeping the HDX to use in a second system in a different room but on the same network as the NDS. I have a new Synology NAS to replace a similar one. I have been trying to create a Network Share and Music Store so I can rip music with my UnitiServe to the new NAS. I’ve been using Naim’s Desktop Client software. The information needed is host name, IP address and share name. No matter how I try to enter this info, it always tells me it’s missing the IP address. Not a boffin so please excuse the query! I have been trying to hardwire my Uniti 2 to my BT Home hub but although the menu says its hard wired the next line tell me its not connected. I have tried a different cable and cleared back to factory settings but still the same. Any ideas welcome please!

I may have found a bug. I have an ND5XS/XP5XS running the latest firmware and use Asset via a QNAP TS 215. When I change the ND5's inputs from the app I find that if I go from UPNP to Spotify, Radio or USB, the only other inputs I have available on my system, that's fine. When I want to come back from there to UPNP, it doesn't happen and I have to do it from the front panel of the ND5. The app may show the UPNP albums, but the front panel on the ND5 still shows whichever of the other inputs...

Today my ns01 stopped working after it had ripped a cd, restart did not help. The same happend 2 weeks ago at night. I guess the main disk inside is about to give up, and the failed rip from today confirms that. I have a Bluesound v1, so a fine backup that can also play my highres albums, but nothing comes close to using the DTc to control my music. It is a 5 year old server, so I am not sure if another trip to main base is worth it. Like the first time I managed to get the ns01 back to life...

Thought I would try to set up Minimstreamer to transcode FLAC to WAV.......... Have spent over an hour trying to find it ?! - Opening Minimserver and going to the Minimstreamer help page it states :- " You can use these features individually or in any combination. For details of how to install and use MinimStreamer, follow the links in the left sidebar. " - I CANNOT see a " sidebar " ???
