Streaming Audio

Follow-up to my last. Now that the ND5XS and PSU have bedded in, actually streaming Deezer high-quality files sounds great. Recommended if you don't want expensive Tidal or MP3 quality Spotify... Happy days.

My digital music library (albums in FLAC format) is stored on my Synology NAS which has two 6TB disks in RAID format. This gives some short term protection for a single disk failure but am fully aware that this is NOT backup as it does not protect against accidental deletion, system corruption, theft of the unit or fire damage etc. I regularly backup the whole library to two external hard drives and keep one at home and one at work. In addition I used to backup to an older NAS but the...

While streaming opens up a fantastic way of enjoying music, servers seems to add a bit of complexity to the equation. To be able to produce a server, working for a long time with out any problems, and, if problems show up, being able to repair, is a complicated machine. I do think audio business in general isn't set up for that and that serious server producers with a heart for audio is what you have to look for over time. Personally I wouldn't go back to CD or LP since the conviens is to...

Just purchased Uniti 2 and after setting up iradio signal quality was fine. Now the wireless signal just keeps fading away when connected to iradio. Wireless is pretty good in the house and works excellently with a muso in another room. Any ideas what might be causing the buffering to decrease so quickly and constantly would be great. (novice!)

I have checked that I have set the NAS password. I have tried to take off the firewall but that makes no difference. I can reach the NAS drive albums using Windows Explorer and play them on my phone or PC as WAV files but I cannot get n-Serve to play them using the NAIM directly. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere on this forum. I need some assistance. I was in the process of upgrading my Uniti2 to the latest 4.04 firmware. The unit was running 3.15 at that point. I ran the update using a Windows 10 machine via the mini-USB socket at the rear of the Uniti2, and the installer programme downloaded from the Naim Audio Support site. Both the Uniti2 and the Windows 10 laptop were linked to a router and Internet via Ethernet. All went well, and the firmware...

Looking for tech support please? Every since I received my ND5 XS I have reboot or dropout issues. To the frequency where it happen almost every time I use it. This happens both on Wired and Wireless networks for UPNP content, TIdal, and Streaming Radio. My dealer and distributor have not yet been able to help, I'm hoping someone here has some suggestions. The device was sent into the Naim distributor for repairs. It was returned and I was told they replaced and tightened some ribbon cables.

Hello This is a post to generate interest on the forum for Naim to add in split screen compatibility for the Naim app. So if you are interested then please email Naim as I did earlier today! Cheers everyone!

Apologies if it has been discussed before - In terms of music re-production quality (please disregard cost), how would you rank the followings: 1) NDX/NDAC/555PS 2) Linn Klimax DSM 3) Linn Akurate DSM I have some fund available and I am now seriously considering the above 3 frontends. Of course, I would listen and compare these components before making my own decision and committing on one, but at the same time I would like to hear from you guys. Rest of the system is NAC 252/Supercap2/NAP...

I've ripped a load of my wife's albums and put them into a playlist. She uses the naim app on her iPhone to play them through a Mu-so. The problem is - the playlist shows tracks, not albums (as in iTunes) and she wishes to browse and play the latter, not single tracks.. Am I missing something? The only workaround I can see is to create a custom genre and allocate that to her music. All advice welcome.

I thought I would post this on here as I believe there are other users who, like me, use Audacity. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/08/04/classicshell_audicity_infection/ The shortened version: Hacker(s) used compromised accounts to access two popular applications and inject malware into them that overwrites the MBR. The hosts claim they were onto the event quickly and have changed the code ...and are applying due diligence/recovery procedures to the servers. For me the most important part...

OK - The DAC Graveyard. I am sure we have all read posts which opine that any DAC that is more than four years old is only worth using as a door stop. However, we all know that a DAC is more than just a chip, it is also a collection of other electronics, software and the correct handling of power. In the last 15 years my DACs have been: Benchmark DAC1 > Naim DAC / XPS > Bel Canto 3.5vb. However good or bad people may rate these DACs, and I think all three are excellent, I was...

I have my music on a NAS, connecting via ethernet to my Mac Mini, on which I run Audirvana + (not in iTunes integrated mode). When I rip a new cd to the NAS, the only way I have found to update the Audirvana library is to go in to Preferences / Library and press the 'sync' button next to the NAS folder name. This has 'Manual' next to it instead of 'Auto'. The user guide taks about music automatically being pushed to Audirvana just by being added to the folder specified in the Audirvana...

Do any of you ever get problems with wireless internet connection - thus affecting your music streaming? I cannot imagine every wifi connection is perfect, so what do you do? (Incidentally, I have AK Connect on my Astell & Kern, but the wifi is not always perfect and my hub is about 1m from the A&K240.)

Hi to all, I use the naim app in my Benq tablet. The question that I have... is it possible to use it in a second tablet? Will I have any problem with tidal account? I ask this because I am planning to buy a second tablet and I would like to control the Superuniti using both devices at the same time. ...Javi

Hello all. I just thought I'd come in and say hello after signing up - my apologies if this is not the place to do it, but I don't see an introductions section anywhere. Anyway, I've just purchased a Unitiqute 2 which is my first ever piece of Naim kit and I have to say that I'm extremely impressed with it - the digital bug has finally bitten! I'm using it primarily as a digital source, coupled with a Roksan Caspian M2 in PA only mode and a pair of ProAC D20/R speakers. There's also a Rega...

Good morning, being the proud owner of a new superuniti, you might help me on a slight problem. Using the Naim app on an Android phone, it takes a while until a changed PL or an added library content, like a new record, is also seen on the app or at the superuniti. If I use BubbleUPnP, I can see the changes immediately. I do use a PC with foobar to stream. I already tried the cache remove option of the Naim app. Any help, comments ? Thx Tom

Can somebody explain why I'm experiencing sound quality differences when Tidal streaming with my MuSo. Naim App- Sound is more open and brighter ... but there is a noticeable delay when changing songs. Tidal App - Sound is somewhat subdued (softer) ... but instant song changing. (Airplay connection) Spotify had something called Spotify Direct that marginally improved the sound quality. The way I understood it, there was a direct connection from the MuSo to the Spotify servers. Is the Naim...

It is time to replace the old system with a new one that is streaming based. I would like to hear suggestions regarding building a system around a pair of Harbeth 3PESR speakers and a Naim streamer. My current thoughts run along the lines of a UnitiQute 2, Unitilite or Uniti 2. Please let me know your thoughts on how well these pair with the Harbeth's and if one has any sufficient advantages over the other . The system will be in a large room, around 650 square feet. Thanks

All, Is the number of playlists limited to 4 on a SU. It seems that whenever I create more than 4 using the iPad, they disappear shortly afterwards and have gone? Also, the 4 playlists I'm allowed to creat can't be viewed on a smart phone using the Naim app, I can only see them on the iPad, is this common also? Thanks, Ray.

I have recently acquired a SuperUniti and a UnitiQute2. I am very happy with these, but the journey before and after was interesting and eye-opening and I thought it might be of interest to other people going on this journey. My last real dabble in hi-fi was many years ago with NAD, Linn Cartridges, AIWA tape decks, Celestion speakers, messing with different types of tape and bi-wiring speakers. For practical reasons I most recently had marantz cd/amp and B&W speakers. Also a set of Dali...

To save people reading through this whole long post – this is it in a nutshell… Problem: Some feeds into the nDAC (specifically Tidal, but any music from a PC, Sonos, or Airport Express) don’t sound as good as others (specifically Unitiserve, USB stick). Hypothesis: nDAC reclocking is not sufficient to fully clear jitter and noise Solution tried: Mutec 3.1 USB reclocker to pre-clean input to nDAC. Outcome: It worked. Very Well! I'm very happy. This is the long version… Background I love Naim...

Gents, I hope you will forgive me starting a third thread but I thought burying a review half way through one of two tangental threads might defeat the object of writing a review. This is a small box designed from the ground up by a combination of individuals who have been highly active in the digital music sphere for many years. Jesus of Sonore described the aim as building a 'toaster', that is something that does a task easily, plug it in and go. THE task is to act as the conduit between...
