I never tried Tidal with my ND5 XS in Dubai as I assumed it was blocked. Now I've bought a MuSo for the summer house in France, I thought I'd give Tidal a try. Although I subscribed to Tidal HiFi via the Naim iPhone App, I did not get the Naim 3-month free trial - has the trial finished or is it not applicable to France? BTW, Tidal seems to work fine as long as 'er indoors is not streaming the tennis, which appears to overwhelm our 2 mb/s connection in "La France Profonde".

I have an Android phone, tablet, and an iPod touch. I've noticed that it's easier to browse music in list form on the iPod touch as it shows one folder per line and has the letters down the right side so you jump through a huge folder. Yet, on my Android phone, I seem to have only the option of viewing 2 folders per line (thus cutting of their names) or one giant folder icon w/ the folder name under it. Am I missing some view option or is that just how it is on the Android Naim app? Thanks, Praz

Hi I have a first-gen UQ and considering an p/ex and purchase of a new one, latest spec. For the Bluetooth functionality, if you are using a phone which is paired with the UQ and you start to play, does the unit automatically switch to the BT input or do you need to select the input first (via app or remote)? Asking because the rest of the family would find it much easier to use if it just did automatic switching when the phone(s) started to stream. Thanks

This has been irritating me for some time now - I have looked on search but could not find any answers ... I am running Audirvana + into Dac-V1 and have the A+ app on my iPad. However it seems to be very 'hit & miss' whether the A+ app actually can find my Mini or not. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't - quite often it does not connect when the Mini has been in sleep mode. I can even use the Splashtop screen sharing app on the iPad to access Audirvana + that way (so the Mini is up...

Probably my fault as I signed up to Tidal via a web browser rather than through the iOS App. I did not get my full 90 day trial period. They started taking my £19.99 just after 30 days. Is there any way to redress this faux pas? I would dearly like to have the £39.98 in my bank account rather than in Madonna's! Tim

Seeing on a couple different dealer's ads clearing out demos that the 172XS has been discontinued? Any confirmation? Its a shame, thought it would've been neat with some ATC Actives. Curious as to the potential replacement.

Out of all of the currently available streaming services I've found Apple Music offers the greatest range of available music and stability during connection and use. It is not audiophile output but suggestions of Apple lossless streaming as the next step have been around for some time. Apple Music does have a cluttered interface through iTunes, and some users may be about to enrol on beta test iOS 10 ?

This weekend I spent some time cleaning up my tagging of genres, artwork etc. using Meta from Nightbirdseveolve as well as n-Serve on my Mac (server for my NDS is a Unitiserve SSD, with the music sitting on a Netgear NAS). As part of this, I downloaded some WAV files (mostly of vinyl I've bought recently, but also the latest Radiohead album), and used Meta to tidy up the tagging of genre, titles etc. The one thing I don't seem able to tag correctly is the album artwork - I just get the Naim...

I find it rather difficult to figure what a NDX2 might bring to the table (and what a future firmware upgrade might not be able to deliver) - is anybody more imaginative than me? OK, possibly a NDX2 would come with a next-gen. DAC section, tricked down from a yet-to-be announced Statement-DAC, I guess... Other suggestions? As we all know: "today on the forum, tomorrow in naim development" S.

I've just read Andrew Everard's essay on Roon in July Gramophone. It's a good article, what caught my eye was the inclusion of Naim in the list of hardware manufacturers Roon Labs has connections with. Naim and Roon Labs have been very tight lipped on this, so is this a sign of things to come? I've let my Roon subscription lapse, partly because of frustration with some of their metadata - particularly for operas - but mostly because I'd hardly used it since getting an SU. A Roon Ready SU...

Im sure this is a well trodden route! My system is Mac Mini into my NDac via an optical toslink and its pretty good. However, I'm forever wondering if I get a little more out of it. Ive read countless articles but I'm none the less still confused. Would I get any sound improvement if I changed the toslink for a well implemented USB? Rob

Well, I've been having a bit of bother with my CD 3.5/Nait 3R and I nonchalently wandered into my local Naim dealer... ...about 10 minutes later I wandered out with a Mu-so Qb. OK, so I got home and scratched my head a bit thinking where to put it and what PC to use iTunes with. A couple of days late I've got a neat little Dell 3020M with a 2TB disk running Windows 10 and iTunes bolted to the bottom of a shelf and the Mu-so Qb above it. I got the app on my iPhone and set about switching it...

Hi everyone, I have NDS currently connected to an Apple Mac mini (late 2014), I'm very pleased with the SQ but read and been told that a NAS would be a better UPnP server in terms of SQ. Do I really need a NAS? In terms of SQ, would it be better? Are there any differences in SQ between Synology 415+ and Synology 213j? The Synology 213j has only 512MB RAM, is it enough? (I will use it only for streaming audio to the NDS, no other apps). What's the name of the UPnP server built-in synology's...

Well, it has been getting worse for some time. Flat, lifeless, weak, downright boring.. Spotify or even 320 kbps web radios are better for bounciness. I am not really sure if they deliver red book quality stream.

I thought I will share a bit of what was an interesting problem I managed to solve recently. For the record, I am using the latest Synology's DSM and its build-in media server. I also use Media Monkey extensively (and mp3tag for DSF files) to manage the tags in my music library. Recently, I had discovered that some albums just won't appear under "Album Artist" view despite me making sure that the files are tagged under "Album Artist" as well as re-indexing the entire collection again.

Can anyone assist with this annoying problem please? I use NDX/dbPoweramp/MinimServer - 500 CDs ripped - all working fine except :- Double or triple CDs - I can find no way to have one cover photo on the Naim App with a track listing once selected. A single CD is not a problem, just tap screen and see list of tracks. I did have (until yesterday) each double CD selected in dbPoweramp as Disc 1/1 and accpeted two cover photos on Naim App - not ideal when 4 or 5 CD album As far as I know I did...

Hi, I'm looking at one of the above options as there are a couple of used/ex-demo units available here in Singapore. Can anyone give advice on the relative differences in sound quality/signature and pros & cons of these options. I want to keep to 2 boxes maximum, and the SuperUniti is coming up around 15% more expensive than the 172 combo before cables. Room is around 30sqm and speaker options could be one of: Focal Aria 926/936 Proac Studio 140 mk2 Monitor Audio Silver8 (although...

After being without a system for a while now, I am looking to buy a new system. I have most of my music in digital form, so I don't need a cd played. To this end I was thinking about the Supernait. However, I read somewhere this is designed for people who Have larger rooms and who want to play it louder. However, I have a relatively small room, three metres by four meters. Would people recommend the Uniti2 or the Supernait in my circumstances. Thanks.

My Internet box is downstairs at the front of my house and my system is upstairs at the back I would prefer a wired signal to my ND5 XS rather than WIFI and instead of running 40 or so meters of cable all around my house I was considering passing the signal over the mains using a bt network extender but will this effect sound quality?

Hi all. I'm considering buying the 2TB Unitiserve, but I have a couple of concerns since I had have bad experiences with music servers from other brands. Is the operation smooth? Does the US manage propertly big music libraries (aprox 1000 cd in Flac) Is the interface easy to use? The IOS app works propertly? Does the Unitiserve read M3U playlist that are already in my NAS? Can I copy them along with the music files to the US? Thanks a lot!

What's the view of members on the possible revamping of the line? They're already 5 or more years out ?

I was advised by a dealer friend, London based, when he suggested that the digital source is as important as the analogue source. Personally, i found that odd, as i am with the opinion that if you have a high definition digital recording, then why it is important if i use a Mac Mini as my source and storage of the zero's and ones, that make up the song? My point being, how can you add noise in a digital signal consisting of zeros and ones? I am assuming that the DAC is only counting the...

Not sure if this, or I, shouldn't be in the Padded Cell? Possibly against my better judgement, I tried a PL on my CD5si over the weekend and was once again shocked and appalled at the impact this addition had to the performance of Naim's entry level CD player, driving Analogue 1 [DIN] on my SU. Given that my two PL's are currently (!) supplying my SU and NAP 200DR, whilst awaiting a 250DR, and have been, again to my surprise, really effective, I am beginning to doubt the wisdom of the 250...
