I have a QNAP NAS and a Naim US. Has anyone tried a separate power supply for QNAP/Synology NAS Drives? I've seen that there are companies that produce them
I did some Googling for this but maybe not enough. When I browse to my Synology nas with Firefox, the desktop appears but I can't click on anything; nothing happens. Nothing is clickable. I have to use Chrome with the Synology. Any ideas??
I have around 765 albums in iTunes on an external HDD and I have been backing up these using SuperDuper. I have also switched the HDD I've used for my library in playback on a couple of computers. Anyway, I have noticed a small number of albums don't appear on my "Main Music" folder but are in my "iTunes Media" folder. This doesn't make any difference when I play music through iTunes but some albums didn't appear in Roon, thought a bit of fiddling around and selecting both folders for Roon...
I really hate it when the stupid record company (or the record producer), decides to have a 'hidden track', starting often many minutes after the putative last track on a CD has finished. In the days before owning a streaming device, I would be listening from in the kitchen to a CD playing in the living room, and think the CD had finished, only to be startled by a sudden loud burst of music much later. If I came across such a CD I would rip it, and attack the offending track with Audacity,...
I have a Superuniti and stream via a Buffalo Linkstation/ Twonky. I saved my files from CD using DBPoweramp and use the Naim app on an iPad Air. I have three issues. My Superuniti os wired up to the TalkTalk router. Thankfully, after upgrading to the latest TalkTalk router the system is less flaky and the streamer always responds. 1. Although all my albums were saved in FLAC lossless and appear that way in my SHARE Nasdrive folder, when I play them the bit rates vary from full FLAC to as...
POSSO METTERE APP DI NAIM SUL MIO COMPUTER MAC E REMOTO DAL MIO COMPUTER A ND5 XS GRAZIE
hi all, I’ve just noticed that over on the illustrate website there is a version of Asset for Mac OSX. My question is this: Is it essential to use a NAS to stream ripped media or can I just use my 2012 i7 Mac Mini with Direct Attached Storage? Our Mini is always cable linked to the router so would I be able to bypass the NAS altogether. I only ask as I have numerous high ish capacity external DAS hard drives / enclosures surplus from my work that I could utilise for the task of media storage...
I've looked at Naim's recommended settings for using A+ with the Naim DAC-V1 and wondered if these were also valid for the SuperUniti. I guess the most important is to not force upsampling in A+ and let the SU's DAC take care of this. Is this the best approach, and should I tweak any of the advanced parameters? I'm using the optical out on a MacBook Pro connected to the optical input of the SU. Cheers Chris
Got my NDX running yesterday - thought all was fine ?! Android pad - Naim app [click] - UPnP [click] - choice of Minimserver or my database filename on server "musicsvr" Albums [click] - list appears with icons Got down to Elvis Costello and there are 6 icons for the same CD - with a varying number of tracks (none correct!) I had a lot of goes to get it copied on PC - originally just managing some of the tracks, so I went to QNap server and deleted Elvis Costello - then uploaded corrected...
hi all, This may be of help to anyone embarking on ripping CD’s with dBpoweramp for the first time. I had a few CD’s that looked superficially in very good condition (with no severe visible defects) but were still throwing up read errors via my portable Samsung SE-208 USB reader. Roughly 50 discs with problems. From a well known auction site I bought a 2nd hand external LaCie D2 DVD/CD reader (circa late1990’s with internal reader model: NEC ND-3500AG), which incidentally has tank like build...
Synology have just released the all new DSM 6.0-7321 & my system ran an auto update at 06:00 this morning. It took a while longer to install than the running updates. It dos not look like anything has changed w.r.t. Media Server, functionality such as transcoding & hibernation .......... that needs to be checked (I'm all WAV so don't transcode). I have not looked at Minimserver yet. Visually everything else looks much the same as before , a few icon art changes. The big changes are...
My old Synology nas has been getting a bit clunky lately so I've treated myself to a new one. I thought I'd try a QNAP for a change, which I set up yesterday - or rather, Trickydickie set it up while I made coffee and looked pathetic (thanks Richard!!) I then paid the princely sum of £21 for a copy of Asset. Unlike MinimServer which took me about two hours of head scratching, it was up and running in about five minutes. Unlike Minim, it is really easy to set up to transcode, and it even...
Hi: Joined here in 2001, last post 2003. Have been simply off enjoying music and not on the forums. I'm back because for Christmas 2015 I decided to buy myself a MuSo. It's several months later and I still can't get it to work (I don't have a lot of spare time, clearly). By way of explanation, I bought it near my home in St. Albans where it worked fine on my home wi-fi network. However, I have a nice big Naim system there (and internet access etc.) and the aim was always to use the MuSo in...
Hi there, I'm new to this forum and would like to seek for some advise. It was only a month ago when I decided I want a Hi-Fi system installed in my room (3.5 x 3.5meters) Went so wrong by picking up a Cambridge Audio CXN streamer + CXA80 amp + KEF LS50 which end up not the kind of sound preference that I like (I'm new to HiFi stuff). Everything sound so different when I got home. (No ho,e demo service in HK) So I changed the amp to a Nait XS2, things got better but still I don't...
Hi Electrician just gone - connected up system - lo and behold - ALMOST working 1st attempt BUT no sound !? My NDX was used before I got it, so may have settings I am unaware of? - but switching on server, NDX, tablet - I have the CD listings on tablet and chose a track to play - which is displayed on the NDX screen as playing 1:00 - 1:05 - 1:10 etc - but NO sound ?! I have connected the NDX using lead supplied by seller from NDX to VCR labelled input on my NAC82 Could the lead be the wrong...
I have a NAS that I want to use as a backup for my Unity Serve. I have followed the instructions but I have not managed to get the Unity Serve to "see" the NAS so I can not use it as a Backup disc. My NAC-N 272 can "see" the NAS and play music from it. It is a LaCie NAS and mycumputer is a MAC running El Capitan.
Took delivery of a new NDX yesterday, but no English-language manual on the Naim site. I was reading it a week ago but now it's gone. Glitch on the Naim site?
Hi I'm probably missing the bleedin' obvious but still... I'm trying to set up the Qb with a static IP address. As per Naim's instructions, I go to the Qb's webpage (I find the address via a network check as it is initially an address handed out by the DHCP server.). On the webpage I go to Network --> Advanced Settings. I untick the DHCP and I untick WiFi. I then update the IP address and press SAVE CHANGES. And then nothing happens... It does not seem to save the setting and the network...
Yes, I know that I will need to contact my local dealer over this, but just wondering whether I am seeing a common event or not. Over the last month or so the US (an HDD variant) will simply put itself 'offline.' The only way to get it back on the system is to undertake a power cycle. The event generally manifests itself when trying to load a new CD and nothing happens, other than the disc loads, followed by complete silence. The unit is switched on all the time, but gets a very easy life as...
The saga continues............ I have copied most of my CDs to my PC - the hard drive is now nearly full I will be copying them to my QNap tomorrow once wiring completed - to test settings with a few CDs uploaded to server, before copying the rest over. I have just had delivered, a 3Tb WD disk - put it in my docking station - gone to disk management - selected GPT - now I am being offered options ? :- Convert to dynamic disk Convert to MBR disk I presume I need to leave GPT in place as it is...
Just a warning that stupidly I had my Synology NAS set up to automatically install the latest version (rather than just important updates). It has upgraded itself to DSM 6.0-7321. Unfortunately this is not compatible with Minim Server 0.8.3.1 Just wanted to get this out there ASAP. You have been warned! I will try and contact Simon Nash to see if he is aware and will post down the track when this has been fixed. Feel very silly as it is the only service I use on this NAS. Meantime it is back...
OK Mike-B, here’s another one for you. I appear to have lost all of my group playlists that have been created in Synology Audio station. When I go to Audio Station I can only see my personal playlists, but it is my group playlists that I was able to play via Media Server and Minimserver (which I have now got working again!). The strange thing is that the playlists still appear within these two UPnP music servers. So in summary, I can still stream the playlists but cannot access them to edit...
The day is looming - Friday ! My electrician is coming on Friday to install ethernet runs - QNap --> NDX (have put a switch in) I am trying to be ready to GO ! Have QNap with Minimserver installed (which at the moment I do not understand properly) - have copied a few hundred Cds using dbPoweramp onto my PC - copied a sample selection to the server - have 2 backup copies of all Cds I have downloaded the Naim app to my tablet and when loading it, get a screen stating one has a Muso - which...
I've got an HDX SSD which refuses to copy a number of CDs (perhaps it's my taste in music?) So I ripped the CDs to WAV format using Windows Media player and added the share to the HDX which all worked fine. The only issue was that on scanning the share, HDX makes use of the Artist information embedded in the WAV file (INFO IART) so where an album has lots of contributors you end up with multiple albums of the same name with slightly different artists (e.g. Handsome Boy Modelling School -...
I usually use the UPnP to listen to music from my Vaio PC (windows) to the Superuniti, some times it happens that the SU does not detect the hard disk . Another option is the bluetooth but the quality is not so high The SU USB input on the front panel only supports apple devices so my question is how can I connect the Vaio via USB cable directly in coaxial or optical input using the internal dac of SU?
