Streaming Audio

Can this be done? My (new ) US needs to go back to Naim and I'm trying to do a quick backup first, without going to the expense of a NAS. I've connected a MacBook to the router but it is showing as 'unavailable (red light) in Manage shares/Network shares.

Yes you read that right - server not streamer. I was doing the usual introduction to Naim demos this morning in the Basil store with a customer when I inadvertently left a USB stick in the Mu-so Qb when I switched to the NDS/500/Ovator system with the Qb still as master - at first I was a bit surprised to hear the music on the 'stick from the big system but duh! of course it would - everything in the store is nearly always in multiroom mode anyway. hi all, am running nds and qb. After I use multiroom from nds to qb, the nds becomes unavailable when i turn off the qb. The nds display says 'streamer update - please wait' and i need to restart to get it back. are others experiencing same? How do I avoid this - assume i do not have to turn off multiroom in the app before turning off the qb. many thanks Lars

Hi, I have a DAC V-1 that I have been using at work. It works flawlessly with my MacBook Pro as the input source via asynchronous USB. I brought it home to try it out in my main system with a Rega Apollo R cd player and the Apple Airport Express for streaming. The V-1 doesn't seem to work for either source. Hi All, Since updating my Synology DS214Play to DSM6 I have noticed odd behaviour with the in-built Synology UPnP Server. I have both the Synology Server and Minim Server installed and flick between the two for playing music. When playing music I typically use "Folder" view to browse to my music. Music is all in FLAC and there is a mix of CD quality as well as 24 bit. I transpose FLAC to WAV on the fly when playing back irrespective of which UPnP Server I'm using. I just got my first DSD album from a friend. But I never have heard an A B comparison between FLAC and DSD. So my question is that assuming one can get both formats - which one should be preferred, assuming they are based on the same source. If you look at the pure size you would assume DSD, but if so can somebody explain it... ?

Anyone getting crashes on the Mu-So network stack when playing BBC HD radio after a few minutes? I loose Bluetooth and the ethernet when this happens. The 'fix' is to walk up to the Mu-so (as the Naim App cant see the Mu-So anymore) and change the input to a non-networked input (anaulogue/fiber et) then it all kicks back into life again (or powercycle the beast). Any other feed including the SD BBC works fine

I just got a Mu-So QB to supplement my main system fronted by a NAC-N 272. Both are connected to ethernet and no matter what I do I get A Maximum of 0 multiroom clients supported. Anyone have any thoughts?

I was surprised to see in the US box a separate sheet advising the correct shutdown and start procedure but now I understand why. The machine locks-up - a lot. By which I mean - becomes unresponsive. I'm having to restart 2-3 times a day using the tiresome procedure on the sheet. Is this usual? I wonder if the lock-ups are connected to loss momentary of internet connection - mine is not rock solid - but then shouldn't the US reconnect to the network? I have just completed converting all the music on my Unitiserve to FLAC .. or so I thought. In doing some spot checks of the results it appears as though the music in the Downloads folder is immune to the Encoding function the n-serve provides (I'm in MAC land if that has any bearing on the case). I have just bought an NDX to go with my CDS2/olive XPS/HiLine/52/Supercap/250-2/SBLs. There is also a Rega Planar 2/FlatCap 2x/Stageline connected. Everything is ripped to iTunes (mainly Lossless and I'm re ripping the AAC files). I was surprised at how close the CDS2 and NDX are. But to my questions. 1. Hi all, I am looking for some help please. I recently purchased a new UnitiQute 2 bt and Nap100 combo to replace my previous ipod/ipad dock and Nait 5si set up. Hello, Until a few weeks ago I could download one AIFF-C to my NAS and afterwards listen through my ND5XS. Due to copyright issues it is only permitted to streaming through "sound cloud APP" I have downloaded to my Ipad the "sound cloud" APP. But when connecting the Ipad to the USB/nd5xs and starting the listening, no sound at all either through IPAD or through NDXS Is there anybody out there who could help me ? Am always trying to improve my understanding of things digital, hence this query. What does a "streamer" actually do ? OK, I understand the DAC conversion function, but what else does it do ? And how is it different from SPDIF output ? I have a Unitiserve playing into nDAC and am very happy with it. I am curious as to how a streamer might work in such a set up and what it might bring. Lately my system has lost a bit of the weight and detail in the SQ. I thought I was just getting too accustomed to or even bored with it. I noticed some of the cables were kind of crisscrossing each other. I spent all of 2 minutes moving the Ethernet cable to ensure it didn't touch anything else. I am amazed by the substantial improvement this made. Now I need to do something about all those power cables......

For some reason the app has decided it will not display my ZZ Top collection! Up until 3 or 4 weeks ago all was fine, then all three albums disappeared from the app. They still happily reside within the server folder of my Unitiserve, and if I rename the artist 'YY Top', reappear and play normally! I have a NAC-N 272 which streams music from a QNAP TS212-P NAS running MinimServer I created a playlist which I can see from the 272 and a MuSo I that also have What is the filename of the playlist and where is it stored? I expected it to be *.m3u but I don't seem able to find any such files on the NAS It would be useful to know for export/back up reasons
