Streaming Audio
Environment: Unitiserve --- switch --- NDX --- DC1 --- Yggdrasil(DAC) --- NAC282 --- NAP200 I've just come off a 6 month evaluation of DAC's and have settled on the Shiit (pronounced Shee-yut) Yggdrasil .. I'm well pleased with the choice and having a great deal of fun re-listening to my music. One part of the environment I omitted above is that I connect my LG smartTV via Toslink to the NDX and toggle sources using the app on my iPhone. The other evening I switched the input to the TV and...
My NDX has just thrown: Fault 35 DSPDAC Reg 4(W) Fail .. I had just chosen my first track of the day to play ... the unit just stopped. Looking back over the forum I see that a couple of you have reported this issue too .. a turn off with a 30 second concerned pause before turning it back on seems to have done the trick and we're back up and running. Did anyone ever find out the cause ? Thanks.
Melco has been discussed before and to my understanding the conclusions differs. Still in the "getting to know each other" phase, I'm very pleased and impressed with the improvements so far. The "black ink" and calm within the music (yes, very difficult to describe sound , in a foreign language even worse)...it sounds better...again. I do look forward to explore high def music files together with my Melco N1Z, I have the feeling that what it does is a hard habit to break. Highly...
Forgive me if this is a stupid question. I stream to my Qute 2 from a NAS drive. I use Minim which has been installed on a good Vaio laptop until last weekend when its HD drive died. I've also used a External HD hanging off the Vaio as a source. I've replaced the Vaio, temporarily at least, with an old Dell, wired to my BT Homehub5 router which is collected by a Netgear extender and wired into the Qute, as was the Vaio. It is streaming OK with Minim with exactly the same settings as before...
I stream FLAC files which I saved with powerampDB (I think that's the name) on to my Buffalo Linkstation. When I play through the Superuniti they sometimes play at different rates, including 128 MP4. I am sure I did not save them at that rate. The system is all wired up through my Talktalk router. Any ideas what might be going on?
http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2016/feb/16/which-is-the-best-music-streaming-service-spotify-apple-music Tidal is mentioned as "also worth a listen" and Qobuz nowhere to be seen. Emphasises what a small minority we all are in the wider scheme of things.
when using Tidal on the Naim app it shows the file format such as FLAC 44.1 kHz or AAC . Does this indication comes from Tidal streaming server as part of the track info ? Or is it recognized by the Naim network player itself ? music played on ND5 XS.
Well that is how it seems. First the good news, the 272 has not muted itself today, however it simply refuses to talk to the Naim app. I have tried deleting and reloading the app but nothing is happening. The 272 is definitely connected to the same IP address and I can access Spotifyand Tidal via Bluetooth, but when I retry the Naim app route zilch. Any suggestions
The free 3 month subscription to Tidal ran out for me in early January - I thought that I would ditch the service when this expired but kept the lossless version another month until now when I've downgraded to the premium version. This basically gives me the 'Try before you Buy' capability I enjoyed with Spotify prior to Tidal but with a much better Integrated platform on the NDX. Out of Curiosity wanted to see how many are doing the same or continuing with the...
Good morning. Is there such a thing as a Metadata editor for IOS? It would be very useful as I often find errors in tagging and then have to break off listening or remember them to correct in an editor later.
I'm not able to connect to the Desktop Client. When I start the program it only says: "Failed to connect to the hard disc player located at unknown". The PC (W10) is located upstairs connected to internet via wi-fi and got no problem. UnitiServe is connected to the router (downstairs) via an ethernet cable. What's the problem? The nServe app is working great on my ipad.
My Input front Display (e.g. Track number and elapsed time in CD input) disappears after 1-2 seconds and transformed into Off mode (e.g. clock). I have tried to modify configuration on the Front Display Settings with no luck any suggestions?
- Local Naim dealer kindly lent me a UnitiQute (1) for a week. - Downloaded Naim App (4.8) for my iPhone 5 running iOS 9.1 Well, unless I am missing something glaringly obvious, the Naim app does not work . The good: It sees the UQ. Scans the attached NAS for albums (52 in all), and loads into an IO screen. The bad: The app enters an infinite wait loop with a wheel (right at the center of the screen) spinning continuously. Checking any settings is impossible as in less than 3 seconds, the...
Hi everyone. New to streaming. Went from a CDX2/Nait 5/Credos to the UQ2/Credos and am unsure of exactly how to upgrade with streaming. I'm assuming ripped files will be the same quality (just like vinyl) and upgrading the source would reveal more of the info. But for streaming what is better? Easiest I would think to add a power amp to the UQ. Other options?
During Sundays, we have the Muso on from around 10am until 6pm listening to various radio stations. On two occasions over the last few times, it has decided to change stations all of its own accord. I have done the usual reset etc, but it seems to have started happening since the last app update, so im wondering if it is that. Has anyone else similar?
I was wondering if any one has used the new Chromecast audio by Google to stream Qobuz to Naim , I just came across the following on Qobuz website, you can use the Analogue/Digital output of Chromecast to connect it to Naim to stream Hi-Res music. if Qobuz remains in business ( Hopefully) then this may be the answer to the lack of Qobuz integration in Naim systems. if someone here has used it already, it would be geart to share their views on the sound quality from Qobus website...
I've been spoilt the last couple of years with the brilliance of Spotify connect, switching between my laptop and iphone to control my music mid session. I'm trialling Tidal, and whilst its fine on my iphone, my laptop isnt synced at all, which means having to use the iphone or crummy remote to control the stream. Rather than use airplay (hate it), is there no way of sending or controlling the muso's tidal stream via the laptop?
I generally browse my collection using the Album Artist / Album option displayed through Asset (as this doesn't scatter these albums across individual artists). If I look at a compilation album like this it only shows the track titles and not the artists. Is my only option to add the artist into the track titles (for compilations)? Is there a better way (and one that doesn't involve me editing thousands of track titles!)?
Hi all. Can someone help me re the Unitiserve. I am thinking of buying a used US to rip my CD collection as I no longer have a CD player. I have a wired 1GB network throughout my home and play via a NAC N272 > XPS DR > NAP 250 DR I have read here that the general consensus is that the upnp 'output' stream sounds better than the S/PDIF output. This suits me as ideally I would install the US away from my main Hi-Fi rack and in a different room. My question is, if I...
It there any way I can control my Unitiqute 2 with my MS Surface pro 3. I do have an iPad mini that I use for the purpose but I would much prefer to use the Surface. Cheers
Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and to the giddy heights of Naim equipment. I'm rather impressed with my new purchase, ND5 XS and it got me thinking what do you appreciate most about your sound? Probably can't answer that in a sentence and nor can I. I often look for "detail" and judge upon it, easy really, first impressions and all that, well it's so so different and so refreshing with this player. The first thing I noticed is not the "detail" but the timing which drew me into the...
My misses has signed up to Tidal for the month free. We can stream OK from my iMac but not from the Mac mini, track plays but no sound, we are using Google Chrome to get HiFi version. iTunes and other track from NAS and other stored music is fine, it seems to be just Chrome, with no sound, on Mac Mini. I was using the MM when we had the 3 month trial from NAIM and that worked fine. I've looked on Chrome settings but there doesn't seem to be anything to prevent Chrome playing music/sound.
After a few years with my NDX I have upgraded to the NDS/555-DR. I previously listened to the NDX/DAC combo but was never able to warm up to the sound. The big 'aha' moment came when I did and A-B comparison between the NDX & NDS at my local dealer. Having not listened to an NDS previously I did not know what to expect. We listened to the NDX, then NDS, then NDX - at which time my reaction was 'where the heck did the music go'. I literally could not believe...
Is it possible to stream Apple Music through my NDX via a Mac?
I guess the answer to this question is probably no , but thought I'd ask - just in case I've missed something along the way FLAC music is stored on a QNAP NAS feeding the Naim streamer (ND5XS) via MinimServer (installed on the NAS and transcoding to WAV 24) and all controlled nicely using iPhones and iPhones (Naim App) Minim Watch is obviously installed on the Mac to control MinimServer etc; When using the Mac, it would be nice to control the music replay and iRadio (ND5XS) etc;...
