Streaming Audio

I've had my MuSo for a few months. I've always had a few minor issues in my partner being able to share the device. She has an Iphone, I have Android devices - I don't know if this has anything to do with it. When I've used it and stopped, she won't be able to see it in her Spotify menu. I have to turn the unit off and on several times before either of us can see it via Spotify connect again.  It was mildly irritating to say the least. Recently this problem came to a head when nothing I...

Currently, I have my NAS upstairs in my study - this is connected via an internet hub which is then ethernet cabled downstairs to the ND5XS - sounds great, no line drop outs and I've got my head round how all the connections work. In addition I have my Musical Fidelity A3.2 CD player running as a transport into the phono digital input of the ND5XS which is a big improvement over the internal DAC in the CD player. So I'm thinking (fan on NAS is fairly quiet) so would I benefit in...

I've working weeks on organizing my music with proper tagging and art work.  I'm curious if it's recommended that I have a separate folder on my naz (with minimserver) HD that is for my 24 bit music OR should I just put it in the with rest of my music?   I'm not sure I would even see a grouping of 24bit files on the Naim app. even if I make a folder just for those files.  Would I?  Does anyone know? Last of all how will I know I'm playing the 24bit version of a CD?

I am using Simple Audio Roomplayer + units as a multi-room streaming solution in my house.  I bought the units cheaply following the demise of Simple Audio earlier in the year and they do all I need until Naim streamers can provide Qobuz (assuming they too don't go under) and uncompressed multi-room. Unfortunately, I managed to delete the latest (and last) Simple Audio iPad app, without a back-up, and it's no longer available in the iTunes Store.  Fortunately, I've still got an...

I just put this same post mistakenly on the "hi-fi corner" area of the forum.  This note likely is more appropriate for this area.   I have an active SBL system with 135s with a 272 preamp/streamer. My tv and a NAS full of music are connected to the system. I have the Naim controller app downloaded on an iPad and usually control the system -- both inputs and volume -- with the app on the iPad. The iPad is getting increasing uses for purposes other than as a remote for the system,...

Received a mu-so for Christmas (a SuperUniti is used for my main system, but a one box system was all that was deemed acceptable in the kitchen). Set it up today, and it sounds pretty good, all things considered. I've noticed though, that if i touch the control/volume wheel and the metal case at the same time, I get a small electric shock. Tried with different mains cables and different sockets, and still receive a not-insignificant tingle. Anyone else noticed this? I'm guessing this is not...

Hi Does anybody know if the analogue outputs from a Sonos Connect would drive a NAP 100 direct without it's DAC/Preamp? Looking for more power than I currently have from a Sonos Connect amp on my desktop system, to perhaps drive Neat IOTA speakers, which I understand may struggle with the Sonos Connect amp. Reluctant to abandon the Sonos and say use a Unitiqute as I love the Sonos interface and have 5 other zones.  Just a thought Best ChrisG

Anybody did a comparison between these 2. Is there a difference in SQ? I've got some issues over the time with minim server is the unitiserve more friendly to use?   One more question. Will a unitiserve and a dac v1 and nap100 do the same as a stand alone unitiqute? Including using the naim app?

If one uses an external dac with the ndx, then what term best describes the ndx's function? Renderer, server, music bridge etc? Does the ndx still benefit from an xps in this set up? Does the ndx still sound superior to cheaper alternatives that can stream and output to a dac, and why does it sound superior? (cheaper alternatives being Aires mini, bluesound nodes, sonos connect etc)  regards   mand

The upmpdcli renderer ( http://www.lesbonscomptes.com/upmpdcli/index.html ) works flawlessly with Linn Kinsky (iOS), the Lumin app (iOS) and a few other control points for iOS and Android. But not with Linn Kazoo (iOS) and not with the Naim app. Are there any known reasons why the Naim app (for iOS) does not recognize upmpdcli?

I'm re-jigging my living room and taking the opportunity to re-configure my audiovisual setup. I'll be taking delivery of an NDX on Tuesday and am planning to connect the TV audio output to the NDX using Toslink optical. I have a MediaCenter PC in the diagonally opposite corner of the room to the Naim rack and would like to connect it to the NDX.  Will feed the cable under the floorboards - about 7m.  The choice of cables is between RCA phono and BNC co-ax.  Am I correct to...

Based on some years of experiencing the Uniti unit and the music availability in streaming, what would you do today ? Uniti 2 or a 272 + 200 ? I still have my old Naim Olive and I'm listening to streaming through a some kind of MAC TV box. All my CD are ripped on an external disk drive in original format and I can access through my IPhone remote or directly from the PC. Thanks

I've recently upgraded my amp from SN2 to NAC252/SCDR/NAP250DR which has given me much better definition at lower listening levels but also makes adjusting the volume control on the preamp very sensitive i.e. the useable range for a lot of recent remasters/CD releases is between 7 and 8 o'clock on the volume control. I use Asset UPnP for streaming and see that this has a facility to apply replay gain (together with increasing bit depth from 16 to 24 bits) and was wondering whether anyone on...

Hi, I have a brand new unitiqute 2, and my music files are served up by jriver mediacenter running on linux. I'm not sure using jriver or linux is relevant per se, the OS shouldnt matter, and jriver creates a standard dlna server. I dont have issues with any other files, I can play back flacs of any resolution (16/44, 24/192 for example) either by streaming from jriver itself selecting the UQ2 as the device, or the other way around ie selecting files via upnp from the UQ2 itself. Where I am...

What sort of improvement have people observed when changing from the stock Naim power cable to a Powerline? Is it worth the cost new or used, in people's opinions? How about adding a Power supply? Differences between XPS2, 555PS, both with/without DR & Powerline (can't recall, is a Powerline standard with the 555PS?) Neil

is there anyway of linking RP more directly with my SU or an naim streamer in order to rate music, add favourites or push the PSD button while I am listening? if I open the RP app on my iPad it seems to act completely independently of what's playing on the SU. thanks in advance for any help, suggestions. I did a search on this forum but couldn't find any thing.

Hi, recently factory reset the NDX due to conflict between IPhone and IPad losing connection. This resolved the problem however when I change between Server and radio the preset on the SN2 jumps from CD (normal for playback) to the aux 1 button. The same applies when I try to return from radio back the other way. I have an NDac in the system. I have run through system automation but something ain't right. I could benefit in having the full menu explained as I did not make a note of all the...

Would anyone know how to properly play FLAC-files with CUE-sheet on NAIM streamers? I am using a ND5XS with Synology DS115 NAS. The problem is: the FLAC file is shown in the iOS-app and can be played, but I would like to be able to see and select the individual tracks identified in the CUE-file.  I have already tried alternative the UPnP-servers Minimserver and Squeezebox media server, but this did not help. I have asked my local dealer, the importer in the Netherlands and the NAIM...

I know there are smart phone remote control apps for the Mu-So, but it would be nice to have a conventional remote where the input could be selected with a single button press rather than scroll through the possible inputs. With the supplied remote you have to press and wait to see if the correct input is selected. Could use a universal learning remote, but there is nothing for it to learn from. I must also say that the quality and usability of the remote does not match (even closely) the...

Hi Guys I purchased a Unitiqute this week.  The ebay listing stated it was the Unitiqute2 when in actual fact (now that it has arrived) it is a Unitiqute V1 24/192.   I'm potentially going to send it back for a refund because frankly I've paid over the odds if its a V1.  But, either way does the V1 have the same capability as the V2 with regards to Spotify connect and Tidal connect once updated? What are the key differences between the two?

Hi all Just some advise please iTunes library sitting on a Qnap210 NAS, on home NW Mac can access the library in the normal way - all works - ok Should an NDX be able to access the same files ( iTunes library  - apple lossless )    >> on the same NW ?   Thanks

My Naim app does not allow me to "seek to time" on MP3 files playing through my NDX 671F (it works fine for AIFF files). The app description lists: "Play, pause, skip tracks and seek to time" as one of the features and does not say this is limited in anyway. Is anyone else having this problem or am I doing something wrong?

The idea of this thread is to collect some feedback on applications that can act as control point for UPnP (DLNA, OpenHome, etc.) renderers. I am particularly interested in applications which are compatible with different renderers, are well supported and documented and have been ported at least to iOS and Android.
