Streaming Audio

Just upgraded the latest firmware for nDac.  Somehow not happy with the sound quality I'm getting out of DSD files. I'm using  .dsf files through a USB stick inserted in the front usb slot of the nDac. The sound is thin, need increase  in the volume to get better quality and lacks bass.  I compared playing the same dsd file using my PS Audio Direct Stream dac. The quality is much much better. I wonder if it may be possible to add a "sleep timer" function to the naim app? Does anyone agree that it would be a very useful addition to the app? Falling asleep to the Mu-so certainly appeals!

Hey, using my DAC V1 with JRiver on notebook I have clicks if I use 24/192 high res material. I did the installation as it is recommended by naim. Has anybody a god idea? I don't know what's wrong... Thanks! The bit perfect test is without problems

As some of you may know, my replay system is based on MPD running on a low power, fanless, headless, dedicated micro server connected to a Naim DAC via a UBS to SPDIF converter/isolator. I am extremely satisfied with the sound quality of this solution but there was an annoying problem: the system of tags supported by MPD is, for classical music, essentially unusable. I knew I could have tried a JRiver-based solution but I wanted a lightweight solution and I was not prepared to abandon MPD.

Hi all, help required for a computer dunce!. I've got a few Led Zep hi res downloads that I want to get onto my NDX. I have tried opening the hi res file and then create a new folder in my music library (QNAP 212, twonky, db Poweramp, Windows PCs). I then use the "export to" function in the download file. The file appears with all my ripped flac files and will play on my computer (via VCL). However, NStream does not see theses files. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?. Any help greatly...

So Ive updated the Uniti, then redeemed my 90 day trial from Naim and logged into Tidal via twitter account. Tidal app on iPhone6 works a treat and Im logged in but I can't log in via the Naim app. When I select the Tidal input no combination of my twitter account details works. Anyone else encounter this? Any thoughts?

Hi to all,  This afternoon I was listening to some music via my Nas when suddenly the music just disappeared. I got my iPad to have a look but no problem except all my playlists are gone ! Argh what a pain but I checked the album track i was playing at the time to see if there was any issue there but it played fine. I've spice reinstalled the app and all is good so far.  I was wondering if it would be possible for Naim to have a facility to save ones playlists on the app ? ...

Very impressed with the sound quality of The Beatles streamed via my android phone to my Unitilite. OK, some of their music isn't my favourite. But, seriously impressed with the SQ. I know some will disagree, but with the catalogue Spotify has for a £10 a month? Still wanna get a turntable spinning again though...

I want to check itunes (latest version 12.3.2.35 running OS X El Capitan) is playing back CDs ripped as apple lossless files bit perfect to my Chord Hugo. I have no way of checking but I know that V1 has test files. I have Hugo as selected output device (System Preferences > Sound) connected via USB. I also have set audo output to 44100hz to match CDs ripped as apple lossles (Finder > Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup > set output device to 44100.0Hz and 24 bit). Can...

So, I acquired the Mu-so as my inaugural naim purchase, but sadly it packed up after less than twelve months, an apparent power failure. It is being replaced via the point of purchase and was previously the primary source of audio in our little house. did i get mqa right and i have to buy mqa music files in future and upgrade for playing those all my devices (streamer and dac)? if so, the music industry would re-sell all Rubinstein, Kempff etc. records again? Means they would put the magic mqa sauce over those old records? if so, i bought first vinyl, than cd, than sacd,  than flac, than dsd...and now mqa from the same recording? thanks, ralf    

By selecting the RadioTunes streams  (with Naim Unitique) now there is an announcemet that RadioTunes is only availabe via the RadioTunes website except you have the premium version. The premium streams are running properly but they are not free. Are there any possibilities to receive these free streams (or will Naim edit the links in http://myradio.naimaudio.com ) so that it will work again? Thanks

I am struggling to make TIDAL work with my unitilite and android phone. I have been using Spotify using Naim app (and laptop) for some time. The local dealer did the firmware update. On the Unitilite display it says "ERROR use naim app" occasionally it says "Ready". However when I try to play a track both the phone and the Unitilite say "can't play - skipped track". TIDAL say it is a Naim issue, and it is the case that the standard TIDAL phone app (as opposed to the Naim app) will play music...

I want to back up my UnitiServe. Can I connect it directly with the WD Cloud External drive via the USB ports? If so, then how do I copy the files?

So I am almost done with a massive excercise of correcting tags and making artwork more specific. Originally I had unless explicitely clear in the used artwork in the collection box the same artwork for all cd's in the box and I used a tag prefix in cd1, 2 etc... While this was easy it was not so nice and is sometimes difficult to select the right cd based on the combination visuals / artwork. I have recently bought a Naim Mu-So and I am exceedingly pleased with the audio quality, however, I think there must be a problem with the App, as the Album Artwork is either missing (Grey Folders) or very pixelated when streaming from my WD My Cloud 2TB network drive. The Album artwork is either "JPEG" or "PNG" and is in the same folder as the music files. Any help  or suggestions would be very much appreciated. Simon

I'm updating my Uniti 2 to firmware v 4.3 on my Mac but it keeps saying the device has failed to communicate. I have retried several times but still no luck. I'm using the USB to mini-b cable and the USB serial com is recognised on the laptop. I have tried downloading the drivers from the sllabs.com site as recommended by Naim and it appears to work but I suspect this could be the issue. Has anyone else encountered this problem and if so where they able to resolve it? Thanks.

Hi Recently bought a new UQ2 and stream from a Synology NAS hard wired into the back of an Asus router.  The UQ2 is also connected via Ethernet - all on same network. 75% of the time the Naim app I use as a control can see both the NAS and UQ2 and I can choose and listen to music no issues at all. However, then it stops functioning and the all can't 'see' the NAS and I therefore can't see my music collection.  The network is still working as I can still browse the internet on other...

I've been ripping quite a lot of CDs now with dBPoweramp, and I found that there were no differences between ripping to FLAC or to WAV in the metadata dBPoweramp found/extracted from the CDs: - does it mean there are no more differences now between the two formats? Or does that only apply to CD rips, and not to downloaded files? - or is this problem more critical with Classical Music (I mostly rip rock CDs)? - and by the way, on new CDs, I often get poor results on metadata provided by...

Having ripped over 4,000 CDs (with many more to go) I'm thinking it's time I should replace my external CD drive. Currently using an AMS Venus external drive with dbpoweramps into a Vortexbox streamed to ND5XS (NDS on the wishlist for 2016) Any recommendations on a solid built reliable external CD drive?  

I used to be able to play music and podcasts by plugging in a sub lightning cable or the older 30 pin cable. Now the nDac unit just makes a soft clicking sound but no sound from the speakers. I have the latest nDac firmware and the latest IOS.  Any idasideas? Thanks    Paul  

Hi, have downloaded the Carmen Comes Inc. - Thousand Shades of Blue from Soundliason as a DSD (64-DSF) . Using JRiver as UPNP Server the Album was shown in the NAIM App. Starting one of These tracks the App goes into a black window with a wite circle inside (turning around) The N-272 fist indicates on the Display "Connection" the a failure an than that the track was skiped. Any idea?  

I am trying to get DSD files played by nDac through SPDIF. The DSD files are in my Mac Mini. I'm using JRiver to send them as DoP. However in between Mac Mini and nDac I have to use a USB to SPDIF adapter like Musical Fidelity Vlink 192 or PeachTree Audio X1. However both of them support till maximum 192 khz. Will this cause any problem to pass the DSD files ? Regards, Sourav
