Forgive me if this is a silly question but the negative effects of RFI are often mentioned and a lot of things are tried to reduce this type of interference. My simplistic understanding is that if one uses an optical cable from source to DAC there will be no RFI as optical transmission is not subjected to it. If this is indeed the case why are coax with ferrite rings preferred over optical?
To all those who are using the Chord Hugo as a DAC, wondering if you can offer some perspective and or reassurance. I am about to take the plunge; just waiting for the DAC to arrive. I will be running it with/through my NDX / 282 / HC2 / 250.2 / Kudos C20's. I have read many good things, did not have an opportunity to demo, hoping some of you could tell me what it has brought to your systems . Happy New year Scot
Having had some problems with viewing artist / album info correctly in the Naim app on my iPhone, I cleared the image and UPnP caches as I used to sometimes in the old app. This fixed the problem, but now all my album artwork has disappeared. How do I get it back please? I've tried resetting the app, but no luck. Thanks for the help.
I thought I would share a few thoughts on a recent purchase - an Arcam AirDAC. I bought it as an alternative to an Apple Airport Express. Mostly I am set up to listen to my 555 when I want to really listen to music. On the move I use song saved into ITunes at AAC 320. So I was looking for an inexpensive solution to listen to ITunes on the main HiFi too (more as background music). I must say, the AirDAC is actually quite pleasant running through my 552.
I keep getting wrong metadata on the UServe rips. The Userve is new - a replacement for a malfunctioning one. But since I got it, the metadata for the rips is totally wrong. Example: I just ripped Lizz Wright - Freedom & Surrender. The album showed up on NServe as Artist: Michail Bulgalow. Title: Der Meister und Margarita 07. This is not the only example. Ever since I got the new unit, the metadata from every rip is totally wrong.
Hi, I recently bought a Unitiqute 2 which I'm very happy with. I have the audio output from my tv connected to the optical digital input for the sound from my sky box and another box for Belgian tv (as I live in Belgium). I currently only use the Unitiqute for this and internet radio. However, when I switch to tv sound I have to turn the volume up very high and so have to be careful to remember to turn it down again before switching back to radio! Anyone any...
hi will the muso be supporting the room software any time soon
Can I hear a difference between the Chord Sarum Tuned Aray Ethernet cable, a Melco Ethernet cable and a stock (= cheap) cat 6 cable? Anyone want to hazard a guess?
Sorry, this is a beginner's query: I've just started with the free subscription to Tidal: whilst I'm impressed that, so far, I could find the albums I wanted to play, I've just bought a CD (Schmieds Puls) after listening to it on Tidal. Is this silly? I'm just not used to finding music on a streaming service all the time, and I do want to be able to play it on my iPod and other devices that cannot stream. I guess I'm looking for a naim streaming guide (now that we've got the connection...
I read through an earlier thread on the Superuniti and how the changing the switch to floating made a big difference. Mine has been set to Chassis since 3yrs. I have a SU connected to speakers and a US only. All analogue inputs are switched off. Reading through the manual it seemed to make sense to have it on Chassis. I switched it to Floating this morning, but it didn't seem to make a difference.... Also do you have to switch off the SU to change the switch position? What...
To you all, have a wonderful 2016.
For the first time, I'm trying to create a playlist from the music on my Unitiserve - can anyone point my to instructions? Assuming it would be intuitive, I opened the Nain app (Vn 4.7 on my iPad) and drooping down the menu below the ... At the top right of the screen, created a new Playlist. So far so good?? When I select a track from my music and tap the ... It offers the option to Add to Dinner with friends. However, when I do this a messages appears saying 'Playlist Full. No...
Dear all, two weeks ago I bought a new SU to replace my old HiFi installation. To give you an idea: it was all Luxman with a very good amp and CD-player and in combination with B&W P6 it produced a wonderfull, moving sound. When buying the SU, the Naim dealer (in Düsseldorf, Germany) already pointed out that it would take some time for the SU to break in. When playing the first CD-rips (FLAC, no compression, via WiFi from a NAS) I was positively surprised by the better spatial...
hi muso users. How long will it take the muso to sound its best? Had mine a week now. Doesn't sound anything like the one I listened to in the dem.!!! And what are the tiny holes in the tweeters for!!!!!
A nice early Xmas present from Damien with the release of version 2.3 with Qobuz integration. Look forward to having a play with Qobuz over the break.
a) I could either leave the MacMini in the study on 1st floor and stream (to my naim system in ground floor) via WiFi - this works fine so far. A slight disadvantage is that I'd have to go upstairs fro ripping, but at least I'd have a monitor & keyboard handy. And the noise PSU would be out of the way. b) I was actually planning to move the MacMini to my HiFi rack (1 m above the other components, next to my BT hub), where I could conect it via ethernet. But having read about all the HF...
Excellent news. I feel quobuz is head and shoulders above the other streaming services
We have just release version 2.12 of n-Serve iOS app. This release addresses several issues reported by iOS 9 users. Sorry for the crashes, this version will work better for you! Enjoy the weekend Tom
I'll try and keep this succinct. Is there any value in purchasing a small external DAC (a la HRT, Cambridge Audio, AudioQuest Dragonfly), to bridge between my Mac and Mu-so? Would there be a discernible upgrade in sound? Does anybody have an experience, or recommendations? Thanks Rich
Can anyone help? Am I losing out using a usb memory stick to play my music on a uq2 instead of from my Mac. All the CDs are ripped to apple lossless, I just find it easier than starting up the Mac every time I want to listen to some music. I have been thinking of a unity serve but not sure if I would gain anything? unityqute2 + nap100 through PMC20 21 speakers.
can I connect a UQ2 to SN2 to use as source without connecting to a DAC first?
Aloha, I am seeking information about a pair of speakers I found on the side of the road last night. They were out for big trash day...anyway aside from the grills, they are awesome. I have no Idea what I have thought. the serial number is 1090. I found all sorts of info on the 70,60 models but not much about the 90's Can anyone help?
Good to see that Qobuz have a new owner - Xandrie. Let's hope that they invest sufficient funds to ensure that Qobuz continues to provide the best music streaming service available.
I have downloaded an album from Qobuz and whatever I do on Metadatics in changing tags etc it is showing in the App as 4 separate albums split as to works on the album (it's classical). I can't see anything obvious in Metadatics and am losing the will to live! Any suggestions please
..and typically over the holidays too. Just discovered two (new) problems: 1 - HDX has stopped listing all the tracks which it has ripped on certain albums. For these albums, only *some* of the tracks are listed. These are all CDs which the HDX has ripped itself. And the tracks are still there to be found if I look in the relevant folders on the NAS. The only way I've found to restore access to these tracks is to copy the ripped album folder from the network store to a network...
