Streaming Audio

Wondering how a Tidal HiFi stream would compare with a rip from a CD via the Core to a Nova. Any thoughts?
EnglishRoguePosted: 25 July 2018Last Updated: 27 July 2018
Hello Folks: The tags embedded in DSD files stored on an SD card which lives in the slot on my Nova are not scanned. In contrast, FLAC files will display the embedded images and tracks show their actual title rather than the file name on the disc. Is this a bug that is on the 'fix list' for a future update? Roguishly...

Hi everyone, first of all, thanks to all of you for your various posts. I've done loads of research over the past year or so and that has led me to buy a Muso and Muso Qb (with my eye firmly on an Atom for when we finish the lounge). One thing I haven't been able to piece together from the various threads related to this subject - is it possible to stream hi-res audio (24bit 192khz) wirelessly to a Muso? I have tried streaming Tidal MQAs using my Mac, but Airplay limits it to 44.1khz. So...

Using the naim app conected to an uniti atom I'm looking for BBC RADIO3 Late Juctions podcasts. I select "Europe/UK/BBC Radio3/Late juctions" but it's empty. Why? I do not think it's a geo restriction limit bcause using the BBC app, I can play the poscasts. Thanks in advance

So we've had threads about the pros and cons of various 'ethernet' cables, and I'll admit I think different cables sound different. I've got far too many external drives lying around, used or still boxed, powered/unpowered max storage of 8TB to 5TB respectively (powered vs bus powered). I download a lot from Qobuz and Twonky makes a mess of the iffy Qobuz metadata but I've noticed that items I've put on a 32GB USB stick in the rear of the Nova seem to be catalogues correctly by the Nova...

I'm running a QNAP TS251+ and having run out of external USB capacity I have a new Synology DS218J NAS bought as a simple back-up for the QNAP. I can access both NAS's on the network by typing in the IP address to the search engine. Yesterday I managed to back-up from the Synology to the QNAP via rsync but the QNAP for whatever reason will not back up to the Synology. Using the QNAP Hybrid Backup app I get an error message - which seems to encompass just about everything:- "Invalid port...

I know a lot of folk (not me) rip their CDs in order to be able to play back files without interference from electromechanical parts and to avoid jitter. I am not a 'ripper' myself, as I have a large vinyl collection to play on my LP12, and a large CD collection which I enjoy playing on my pre-owned CD555. Before that I was using a high-end Krell CD player which had both digital and balanced XLR outputs. Both of these machines have veritable legends of drives fitted into them. Of course,...

Hi, I'm testing a UNITI ATOM and I'm surprized besause the UPnP is only available via the app and not using the remote and the display, the same limitation is applied to internet radios browsing. Whit my old UNITI I can browse upnp and iradios using the remote and/or the front diplay. Why this limit has been applied to the new UNITI serie?

As I understand it MQA was developed to allow more efficient streaming of hires files. From what I’ve read it also offers some sort of watermarking of files and we need an MQA decoder to play them. Why is it now being used to encode CD’s, the forthcoming 50 th anniversary edition of the Doors “Waiting For The Sun” is said to be MQA encoded. If I purchase this will I be able to rip it to my NAS and stream it? Chris

So I hop into my car and tap Spotify on in my phone. Before Carplay connects it wakes up the nova and BAM, scares the wife half to death. It's the morning, wife is having her cereal, I go to put on some light classical music and wake up Spotify. Point it at the nova and BAM spoon on the floor. If I connect Spotify to my nova before independently waking up the nova and manually setting the volume, it sometimes jumps to like 80%. Anything to be done about that? My poor wife is developing a...

I have ripped 3 SACD discs and they are located on my Synology Nas in DSD format. I have a Unitiserve as well and I use the Naim app to stream music from both the US and Nas. If I go into the US upnp then the 3 albums are not there, but if I use Minimserver then I can see the 3 albums on the Nas and can play them on my SU. Why does the US not see the DSD discs but Minimserver can see them. Its very annoying to have 2 servers on the Naim app. Is there anything i can change on the Desktop...

Credit where credit is due. After two and a half years of faultless operation, my Melco N1A decided that it didn't want to get past its boot up sequence the other evening. After trying various things i wasn't getting anywhere so it was time to contact Melco to get help. I popped an email to Melco support on Friday morning and within a hour got a reply back from Alan Ainslie apologising for the problems and enquiring as to my location to pick the unit up. It turned out that Alan is only 15...

This one is doing my head in. Just got a brand new current version iPad , downloaded the N-serve app from the Apple App Store , it refuses to find my HDX. I am running version 1.7b on the HDX, HDX working fine from my naim remote, no error codes popping up. The real kicker is the exact same app on my iPhone 7 works fine, no issue at all, it will find my HDX every time. N-serve app version is 1.2 on both devices. I uninstalled the app about 5 times and download new a new fresh app, did a hard...

Dear all, My CDs ripped by the Uniti Core are stored in the MQ folder under the Music directory. Since muisc files cannot be simply copied to these two folders and the Core can rip CDs only, wonder what are the uses of these HQ and LQ folder ? Best

Hi, please help, I have professional SONY DAT PCM7040 that I want to connect to the ND5/XS and later to the NDS 2. The issue is with the comms protocol being at the DAT end AES/EBU whereas on the ND5 XS is SPDIF. Now the 2 protocols although are compatible I am not sure whether a straight XLS /BNC cable would work, or I need to put a converter in between. The question is: does the ND5/XS support the AES/EBU? Thank you for Your help salvo

Dear All I have a Unitiserve SSD. So far, I seem to have spent more time attempting to deal with network problems than actually listening to music...! (at least the device plays cds). I started this as a beginner on networks and IT more generally. I have Virgin Superhub 3 and QNAP TS-412 NAS, with a TP-Link switch connecting the Unitiserve to the router. What would cause the Unitiserve music store to be intermittently demoted to a share, even with the store named by IP address please? In...

Just bought this CD from auction site to rip to NAS. Admittedly it is only the second time it has happened, both discs Blue Note - one brand new, they are marked on the inside edge of the cover "copy protected", but one does not see this before purchase. Do not feel one can return disc, as presumably nothing wrong with it? Info on disc from Explorer I would like to get this CD, but looks like it is impossible to copy - or is there a way ? dbPoweramp just won't have it - comes up with loads...

Just got my superuniti reconditioned and they upgraded firmware to 4.6.00. I expected to get tidal and Spotify streaming as an input but I don’t see it either on the app or the screen inputs. The unit BC SW is 3D14171. What am I missing Nigel

Hello, mid april I posted this problem : uniti atom screen blacks out without any trigger. Problem occurred twice in april, since then not anymore. I recently connected a parasound A23 pre-amp to the "pre-amp out" because the impedance of my loudspeakers was incompatible (4 ohm) with the Uniti. This solution works perfect. Beautiful sound and no volume problems on the atom anymore. The atom triggers the parasound to turn on with an outgoing signal on the pre-amp out, and when music stops,...

may I take this opportunity, on this forum, to say a BIG thank you to Phil Harris for the huge amount of time and effort he has spent sorting out my music shares/stores. that kind of support may seem expensive on the surface but I know for sure that it will definitely pay dividends in due course. to be honest though, perhaps I shouldn't be surprised -- I have always had excellent support from Naim Audio in my >30 years Naim ownership. enjoy /ken

If I’m streaming a 24bit 96kHz album on the HDX over UP2P to my iPhone 8, do I hear 24bit 96kHz or is it now MP3, and does that hold up to 24 bit 192kHz or 24 bit 384kHz?
