Streaming Audio

Is it possible to use nserve with superuniti when serve is connected via Ethernet to router? Can't figure out how to play with sound. I can use upnp to play via nstream, I'd like to use nserve. Does it have to be direct connection?

My HDX is a 1TB non-SSD version.  I've read that some play stored music from a usb attached hard drive directly into the HDX. Is their any sonic advantage to separating out the hard drive from the one inside the HDX? Cheers G

However, I have just got a new nDAC which is fed with music from my Unitiserve, using a £150 Mark Grant, pure silver Coaxial interconnect. The nDAC Is then connected to my Supernait using Naim's Din cable...I then tried a cheap old optical cable that has been stuffed in a draw for ages, and connected the nDAC to the UnitiServe with the optical cable. All of a sudden my NDS can no longer pick up via the Nserve SSD.  I get message on NDS saying "can't play, unable to open stream" yet I can access the Netgear NAS.  anyone else encountered this? I've rebooted everything to no avail. thanks

Anybody tried this vs NDS/555DR?   Is this worthwhile?  Or does the bare NDX into DAC/555DR make more sense, if one insists on keeping the Naim DAC? Nick
