Streaming Audio

I know it sounds silly but does the mute function takes out the superuniti from the network if it's kept active for a good amout of time? Mine is connected directly with the router(with ethernet cable) and sometime, I experience a network dropout...

I am about to connect up my ripper/server to my router which is 12 to 15 metres away. The server will be usb connected to my Dac, controlled by iPad3.Should I use cat 5 or 6 ,or no difference. Thanks

Does the superuniti have have a unity gain input? Thinking of getting one but it needs to take an input from my nVi. ThanksPeter
