I have an HDX linked to a Buffalo TeraStation III (Model No TS-X4.0TL/R5).  Both are working very well, especially since the upgrade to 1.6 which I completed last night. My question relates to the N-Serve App and my attempt to use this on a...

I note that the user manual for the HDX has very specific instructions for powering-down the HDX.  Like a computer, it appears to need to do a lot of "stuff" before power is removed (eg by switching it off on the rear panel switch).  What...

Now that my uServe (hdd model) is up and running, I'd like to dip my toe into what it takes to get my legacy collection of a few hundred gig of flac files accessible to it. As a learning experience, I'd like to use our old Dell laptop (Windows...

Software version 1.6 is now available for download which updates Naim’s hard disk player/servers with full internet radio functionality and a new automated back up to NAS (network-attached storage) feature. Customers can control the new internet radio feature from any of the control interfaces: the n-Serve app, desktop client, web browser, TV interface and the front-panel touchscreen. The automated back-up to NAS feature simplifies the process of backing up music collections. It can be...

I use Twonkyserver 6.0.34 on my computer with slightly modified view options (i.e. composers are displayed as well; see  http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1836274/Twonky-1.png and http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1836274/Twonky-2.png ). However, when I try to choose one letter of the album index in order to display the albums therein (i.e. "v", see http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1836274/Twonky-3.png ), n-stream only displays "Laden" (charge) and later shows again the index (similar to what is shown in...

I am trying to work out a problem. I understand there is a problem with the current firmware version on the NDX that means FLAC files come up as not being able to play. I have noticed that when I switch from iRadio to UPnP that I need to...

Hi there On another forum I have been having fun time in a thread about the benefits/value of putting a DAC in your system. The root of the discussion is that I can hear the difference the NDAC makes in my system but I am being bombarded with data...

After clicking 'REBUILD DB" (via the desktop client), the albums ripped using the Unitiserve -- about 100 -- were made available to play fairly quickly.  However, the 500+ albums stored in FLAC are still unavailable 12 hours later....

I have a US HD which I am very happy with, and have circa 750 CDs lovingly ripped onto the internal HD. But thinking ahead 2-3 years, I will probably want to move the whole lot to a NAS. I don't have on yet, but will probably get one. My question is...

For the third time in two weeks this problem has happened.I think I've found the solution, but I'd love to know why it's happening in the first place.1. For no apparent reason, when I click on a wifi radio preset on the remote control, I get "Can't...

The latest issue of HiFi Critic contains an enticing piece by Andrew Harrison and Stephen Harris (of Naim) on sound quality differences between various digital music storage technologies. In a nutshell, they noted marked SQ differences according to the manner in which music was stored ; differences that were considered in some cases « akin to changing loudspeakers ». The reference system comprised a dCS Purcell Upsampler and Delius DAC feeding a Music First system controller and Chord SPM...

Hi, I´m using a HDX and looking for a cheap music access solution for a second room. Is ist possible to play the WAV files stored on the HDX with a Squeezebox Touch? If not, is there an other good solution without the need of buying expensive new equipment?

Is it true that the Naim Uniti can't stream Apple Lossless files? Is there a workaround? No way I will rip all my CD's again
Sloop John BPosted: 20 September 2011Last Updated: 22 September 2011
It’s all right to say rip it to your NAS and use EAC or dBpoweramp, but there are a lot of things that can ruin the rip. The quality of the transport, the environment it’s being ripped into. So Naim right now is controlling the ripping, storage and playback and that’s important to us if we go back to the "source first" in terms of where we first started ............. Now after a dying Buffalo NAS and a QNAP NAS whose bundled UPNP server Twonky doesn't seem to read the tags on WAV files I can...

How can you request a different metadata lookup if it's wrong?  Unitiserve.   Bis Sibelius Symphony 2 Jarvi showing as Sibelius songs sung by Nilsson.  Several other instances eg Kleiber Traviata.  Really frustrating.

Forum threads can go off-topic; this is usual, but it was interesting that a recent discussion about confusion of terminology about different products burst into a thread titled for Naim-Linn comparison. It is easy for Linn: it produces only one type of product in the digital range: UPnP stream client with dac incorporated. That's all. Naim has a wider range of products. However, NAIM OFFERS NO TOOL FOR NAVIGATING THROUGH THIS RANGE OF PRODUCTS AND MAKING PURCHASE DECISIONS. Salmon Dave was...
