Streaming Audio

Popped into my local dealer for a bit of a natter/listen today. His Statement/808 system was all set up for a quick listen to the new Chord Blu2. Interestingly the device was being used to upsample from a Melco N1Z to a Chord Dave. We listened to 3 different set-ups (a) straight Melco (b) upsampled Melco and (c) upsampled CD (the Chord). Is it something I am doing or is it normal for the sample/bit rate to be displayed when streaming Tidal, on the app via my phone but not displayed on the app on the iPad? Thanks all

I have a question about the ND5 XS ethernet port. Is it grounded or not? I can see it has a metallic shell, and I was wondering if that is actually connected to the unit's earth. Also, should I use network cable whose shielding is grounded (at least at ND5's end) or, rather, is it better avoid grounded network cable? I apologize if I was not clear in terminology, but networking is a bit tricky to me.

Hello - I'm brand new to this forum, I have a Naim NAP250 and collected an Atom last week which the 250 is driving. When the Atom works it's sounds lovely, however, the App locks up regularly and the Atom can hang and sometimes restart it's self. My son has checked my network settings, the Atom is connected via ethernet anyway, he's a network engineer who works for Fujitsu Services so knows networks well. Any ideas or advice please, I must be doing something wrong.

I am looking for some help in setting up an ND5 XS so that the remote and iOS app will allow me to control a Nait XS and CD5x. I've run a cable from one of the remote outs on the ND5 XS to the remote input on the Nait. Not sure if that's all the cabling necessary or if I need to tether the ND5 XS to the CD5x as well. Finally, I am confused about how to set the System Automation settings so that my ND5 XS remote will allow me to change input sources from the Nait XS and control the CD5x too.

Hi, I just started to get set up with my Naim Mu-So and am trying out Spotify Connect. Oddly enough it works fine to stream music via Spotify Connect, but I'm not able to stream podcasts. Whenever I'm streaming music, my Naim Mu-So shows up among available devices, but when I start playing a podcast via Spotify, I'm told I can't stream to the Mu-So as long as I'm playing that content. Does anybody have an explanation why this might be - is it because of the length of the streamed files, or...

I was wondering if I may get some input on the question of DAB radio it the U.S. I am in the process of purchasing a Nova and was wondering if including the DAB connection on the back would serve any purpose here in the U.S. given everything is Satellite & FM (HD Radio). I have found near 0 info on DAB being implemented in the U.S. Probably because the system here is still stuck on the FM Signal. Does anyone know anything on this subject ??? Thanks

hi. strange , been using my deezer streaming tonite via my sonos. Had an error message come up. Sid words to the effect that I had been flicking multiple tracks and for the next hour had been security checked and will be limited use for the next hour ? When I try and use it kind of fast forewords through my selected tracks without playing them. Weird or what. Anybody else had this ...

I've been experimenting with a number of fast android emulators for Windows that allows Android apps including Naim to run on Windows 10. One specifically, Bluestacks, seems reasonably good. It works very well when Core and 272 are connected digitally rather than my preferred method of networking. It's fast and easy although I had to use the beta version because the cooking version wouldn't let me log into my Google account. Any one else tried this or similar methods? can anyone ever foresee a day when all of this garbage that is made to use with software and apps ever actually work. I have had a Muso and qb for about 8 months now and all of a sudden they are not there anymore or the music just drops off. everything else router wise is working fine except this overly expensive garbage. I’ve been using Amvidia on my Mac to correct the tags on one of my downloaded .FLAC albums everything went fine until I opened the album in the Naim app the songs were in alphabetical order not track order. Has anyone had the same problem and how can I correct it thanks in advance

Just recently I’ve notices that when selecting an album to play it add the song but only runs the first song, I have added tracks individually but it still only plays the first track. Also, the app is no longer displaying where it is on the track or is the fast forward/ skip working. I’m primarily using Tidal as my streaming source. Seems like a major major app fail. Suggestions?

Forgive me if this has been asked elsewhere. Just wondering if there is anyone else experiencing Naim app issues today? My app is not recognising any "rooms" (iPhone app) but the iPad app does recognise the Uniti Star ....unfortunately Mu-So isn't being picked up at all :-/

Hi all, the new uniti star drives me crazy. First unit had a defect volume control knob, second unit some hang up and sometimes sluggish response. The most irritating thing is that the unit creates some crackling/short breaks/dropouts after internal ripping to a usb plate. Tried different types, always the same results but the dropouts are always at different places . So the cds can not be faulty.... Hopefully you know what I mean.... Did someone of star users made similar experiences in...

For many years the kitchen microwave has been a source of annoyance interfering with wi-fi signals, and was a real nuisance with an early Airport Express and more primitive wi-fi protocols. Have connected an SSD drive via USB with 16K tracks on it to the rear USB port. two questions, when selecting USB why does the unit show two ‘rears’ on the display? secondly via the Naim app it seems to be pot luck if tracks are displayed in track order or alphabetically, what is the correct way to tag them so they all display in track order?

Hi all, I've had a Unitiserve and a Uniti 2 for a few weeks now and there's been a couple of occasions where it seems the system is buffering whilst playing via UPnP. Music stops for a couple of seconds then resumes. The Unitiserve is connected to the router via an Ethernet cable but the Uniti 2 is connected to the network via wireless. Will connecting the Uniti 2 via Ethernet to the router solve this issue. The Uniti 2 is about 15ft from the router and Unitiserve. Thanks Gordon

I've only had my atom for a couple of weeks, but in that time it often becomes unresponsive, and other times extremely laggy. The most common pattern I have seen is when using spotify connect, the input button on the remote wont work if I want to switch. The other buttons work, but not the input. I can work around it by switching to multiroom for example and then hitting input, but still... I have found nothing with search. I am sure the core will rip an HDCD encoded disk, but will I just get 15 bits of audio, or does it decode it to higher bit depth as did my former CDX? Charlie
