Hey all, i currently run a physical usb connection from my toshiba laptop to dac to amp to play flac from a external hard disk connected to the laptop. Will i be able to do this with the usb connection of the unitiqute? Or can i use the unitiqute's networking capabilities to access the hard disk wirelessly? BTW pls note that i dont have a NAS - just a harddisk. Also pls note that i am referring to the unitiqute and not the unitiqute 2. Appreciate the feedback.

Hi, i recently bought a naim unitiqute and when i played songs through its usb port (which can only host limited capacity usb sticks) it sounded phenomenal. then i configured Asset upnp and played the same music but felt SQ was not as good as USB. i have not tried out a NAS yet. So would like forum-ers opinion on which - spdif or upnp or nas - would have the best SQ (when used with unitiqute). I have the unitiqute hardwired to my internet router btw. And my primary goal would be to play...

That isn’t Apple? I don’t know about the rest of you, but my iPhone is running slower and it may be due to Apple purposefully doing that. In fact it probably is as my partners iPhone is also slower. This has caused snags with n-Serve for my HDX, but I now have a tablet - hopefully to take its n-Serve place. But I can’t find the app. Please help!!

I have a new iPhone SE for Christmas and am wondering if connecting it iPhone SE >> Camera kit >> USB cable >> Chord 2Qute will bypass the iPhones internal dac?

Would like to import music that is on my laptop in to the Core, but the Core does not see my laptop as a valid network drive or music store. Meanwhile, the Core appears as an NAS drive on my LAN with 2 top level folders: Downloads & Music. Seems that it would be easiest to drag/drop music files from the laptop to the core. This seems to work for the Downloads folder but not the Music folder. Does it matter? Is there a better way?

Hi. I bought an NDX today, to replace my Sonos ZP90. The internet radio part works fine - but I cannot connect to my Twonky-enabled NAS (a WD MyBook). It appears in the list of “My servers” on the Naim app, but says “no result” when selected. It says “no servers” on the NDX front panel display. My Sonos was previously accessing the same NAS just fine. The NDX is connected to my network by ethernet cable. I have now spent about 5 frustrating hours trying to research this. No luck yet. As the...

Naim Uniti Core, HiFiBerry Digi+ Pro (Raspberry Pi HAT) and Allo DigiOne (Raspberry Pi HAT) are relatively new devices. They all can provide a direct, high quality SPDIF feed to a Naim DAC. This thread is meant to discuss their advantages and disadvantages as SPDIF sources for SPDIF DACs. The idea is to focus on differences in sound quality, reliability, flexibility and usability, not on price differences.

Hi folks, we are currently building a log cabin in the garden, about 10m away from the main house. WiFi reception is just about good enough for internet radio, but streaming from our uniti core (main house) to ND5XS (log cabin) via WiFi is patchy with dropouts, also when using the naim WA5 antenna. I’d be grateful for suggestions how to properly ‘feed’ my ND5XS in the log cabin! Currently I’m using a BT home hub 3 for WiFi in the house which works just fine. I see 2 options: 1) 30m ethernet...

I have posted from to time time since ordering my Nova in February and installation of it at the start of September. It was a year marked by ruthless ripping and indexing of CDs, downloads of high resolution music and, finally, relaxation into rediscovery of classical music. The Nova and streaming of ripped or downloaded music from a NAS has revolutionised my listening. No longer do I have to walk across the room to change CDs part way through an opera. I’m also much more inclined to put on...

Multiroom worked perfectly (shareable in both directions) when I had only a Mu-so and the NAC-272. I recently added an Atom and Core to my home after which there is only one multiroom combo that works - Mu-so to Atom. Otherwise, the other streamers don't appear or I get an error that states "a maximum of 0 multiroom clients is supported." I understand that there are some firmware updates pending. Meanwhile, I am sorry to have lost the functionality I had before adding the newest units. My...

I’m using the latest version of the Naim App and MinimServer to stream from a QNAP NAS. I can scrub all my tracks if they are FLAC or WAV but not MP3 or AAC files. I’ve never noticed this before, so I guess this could be normal. Just seems a little odd that all formats can’t be ‘scrubbed’ to fast forward. Everything else works fine and I can transcode from FLAC to WAV on the fly without any issues.

I have been enjoying an ND5 XS for 6 weeks now. I subscribed to the 90 day Hifi tier trial of Tidal. I will stay subscribed with Tidal, because the sound quality is very good, and I love the way it integrates with the Naim app. For example. If I am playing an album by Chet Baker, the app shows me all of the Chet baker albums available on Tidal. It looks like the Tidal albums are in my collection. It is really easy to use, and well presented. I find Tidal has a lot of music, but It does lack...

Just saw an article on a popular tech site that Tidal only has about 6 more months of cash left to last. If true, It's a bit of a shame. As I was hoping that it would at least force others, like Spotify and Apple Music, to introduce a lossless streaming option. It would seem that the lossless and MQA streaming Tidal does offer is not enough to take customers away from Spotify. I trialed Tidal Hi-Fi for a month and found it okay. Sound quality was a little better then Spotify, but not enough...

I have ordered my Uniti Atom for delivery after Xmas I am looking into how best to copy and store my CD collection and thought I would post something whilst waiting for my Xmas dinner! The Uniti Core would seem an obvious choice but it seems to have had a lot of problems and one dealer has strongly advised against it Another contender is the Innuous Zenmini which seems to be well regarded and considerably cheaper but is it Hi-Fi enough?

So I know how to deal with 'The', but how do I sort by surname but have the artist appear correctly on the streamer (rather than 'Bowie, David' for example)? At present I have Artist and Album Artist set to 'Bowie, David' and use Advanced Search > Album Artist / Album as I prefer this way of handling compilations. I'm using Asset UPnP, dBpoweramp CD Ripper, Mp3tag, a Naim Atom and the Naim app.

Has anyone tried the Magna Mano as a SPDIF source for a Naim Dac or for Naim streamers? The device has received some positive reviews and seems a valuable alternative to solutions based on the ubiquitous server + network player architecture. Thanks, nbpf

I am using Naim app ver. 2.4 and it seems that the playlist behaviour has changed in that I used to tap the Album art thumbnail to the left of the play bar and it would display a vertical current the play list whereas now it displays a large horizontal playlist. However, if you scroll left or right to see the entirety of the list it starts to play the track in focus as it were. Am I going mad or am I missing something?

Now I am home... More issues: Edit metadata screen on iphonex -- clips the title "Edit metadata" to a row of dots. Yes, I reported it, yes its been ignored Traffic light info for rip errors: red green and orange. Go to look at the status after the rip, and you find the orange issues have now become red. No, I have no idea why this is. It might just be the dev team being lazy and not applying the right colour. It might indicate something else, who knows? Starting the app on network with no...

I am sure this has been already asked but, why cannot I use the remote control to access my UPnP server? Surely this is many people's most popular source! As a result it render's the remote for me as virtually pointless and I end up just using my phone App!

Hi, maybe its me but it seems the latest version of the Naim App has removed the ‘stop stream’ command when playing internet radio. This was a nice feature to, well, stop internet radio. Now you have to close the window that shows what’s playing, click on the gear at the top right, and select ‘standby’ unless I’m missing something? You can’t even select another input as a way to stop the system, you have to ‘standby’. 1 click to 3 seems to going backwards for ease of use...
