Streaming Audio

The forum is somewhat riddled with threads of app issues, heck even some reviews (like What Hifi) state it’s not good. Whilst it is good to vent frustrations, I have many a times; sometimes we need a bit of perspective. For me experiences over the year with Nespresso (App and connected machines only), Arlo (Smart Cam), Ring (Video Bells), Samsung (TV, Smart Watches) have all been bitter sweet. In the sense that there have been hardware and software issues from day 1 to today, upto and...

I have committed a school boy error in my haste and niavity and ripped 200 Cds at level 8 flac. I would have preferred to rip with no compression. Does this matter ultimately as the file will be uncompressed at play back. If it does matter can this be changed via dbpoweramp and minimserver without having to re-rip? On the same subject I would like to try transcoding flac to wav for replay. I have minimserver but do I need to install minimstreamer to do this? Thanks.

At the risk of exposing a slightly sacrilegious mixing of the big names.... I've been using Kazoo Server with Naim endpoints, mostly because I haven't fully weaned myself off iTunes for library/mobile device management. Kazoo Server has a pretty good iTunes library processing engine, and presents it in the Naim app very nicely. However, I'm struggling to get audio to play with a new Uniti Atom. The problem, however, is a bit weird. Things that work: 1. Kazoo Server Library browsing in Naim...

Hi, My Uniti Serve is sick, and I’m looking for a quick way of being able to play music. I tried running Asset upnp server, but this resulted in 1 album with thousands of tracks, I think because all of my music was ripped into wav files on the US. is there any other software I can run that would work with my library ? Also, is there a way of “unlocking” my collection for the future ? It took me years to rip all of my cd’s so doing it again is not an option. Thanks, Mark.

any timescale on core firmware which shows rip status correctly? It feels it’s dragging on.

I have an NS01, it replaced a fullup HDX a while ago. I just ordered a Core, but suddenly realised I don't have a clue how easy it will be to move my ripped CDs from the NS01 to the Core ! There being no way on God's green earth that I'm going to re-rip the thousands of CDs that I (or in fact SWMBO) originally transferred from disk to HDX; if the move to a Core from the NS01 isn't a simple process, I'm going to have to cancel my Core order. Help?? (anyone done it already?)

Review of the Naim Nova on What - Hifi.

I have made sure that I am running 4.4 on my Android app and on my ND5XS. I have tried deleting and reloading the app on my mobile. There is no problem with my internet connection - TV reception and mobile is perfectly OK. I am getting a "strong" 144mbps signal. I am hardwired from the router to the ND5XS and there are no other Wifi signals nearby. Radio station playback is fine. USB playback is fine. Tidal playback suffers from constant dropout. Eventually, the selected track disappears...

I have been pondering an audiophile ethernet cable and started out by buying an Audioquest Cinnamon Ethernet cable which bettered the bog standard computer one, I had plugged into the Naim streamer. It lowered the real body of the music without restricting the bandwidth of the music, subjectively - obviously better music. After fiddling around with the system, I accidently touched it to another CAT cable I had coming out of the router, but not noticing this, I started listening to streaming...

So far so good. Purchased Synology Nas and two 3tb wd red drives. Started ripping via dbpoweramp and music successfully streaming to Muso via wired connection. This is in preparation for the arrival of the 272 /250 and hopefully all will work fine when this arrives. I plan to keep the Nas in the lounge with my main system as the router and switch are located there. This will enable me to maybe purchase a good quality ethernet cable (if people think this is worth it)? I would also like advice...

live in Ireland and find no reception on the internet here of Classic FM since lunchtime. Have they blanked listeners from outside UK. All other stations appear ok. Can receive via satellite. Anyone have similar problems on their Muso?

I use my Uniti Star to rip cds, sometimes the album art is wrong so I edit the metadata and update the album art to the correct one, now, here comes the issue. The new and correct album art shows on the naim app on my iPad but the old, incorrect album art still shows on the screen of the Uniti star... why and how do I resolve this issue please?

My router is in a different room and about 15 metres away from my NDX. My NAS (ReadyNAS102) is connected to the router via a Netgear GS108 switch and both are located close to the router. The NDX and router are connected to each other and to the Internet via Powerline Homeplugs. My question is whether moving the NAS and adding another switch close to the NDX would reduce the possible impact of mains disturbance or does the stream from the NAS travel to the router and then to the NDX so that...

As Qobuz has to be played on the Atom via Chromecast built-in, I was wondering if anyone knows if gapless playback is simply impossible with Chromecast technology or if it's the Apps doing the casting are to blame? I got a Chromecast audio device a few months go and hooked it up via optical to an older amp, and was dissapointed to find it could not do gapless playback. Just purchased an Atom but the Chromecast built-in has the same problem which is a shame for those of use with...

An unimagined scenario 12 months ago! My 2Tb US has less than 50Gb free apace remaining, which I calculate gives me room for no more than 80 CDs. Other than switching to a NAS as my streamer, or buying a Core and a larger hard drive, do I have any other options open to me? Were I to replace the US with a Core, what issues might I encounter? I am 100% happy with the US and what it gives me in respect of metadate, editing via n-Serve and sonic quality. Would the Core take my existing 2,500...

I have several video sources feeding into the Atom but as things stand am unable to use my Control4 network controller to switch inputs, adjust volume etc. What are other Atom/Uniti users doing in this situation? I had a Harmony before but have gone down the Control4 route.

Can anyone help here please? I have an NDX and until recently have streamed directly from a USB drive plugged into the NDX. Using the Naim iPad app I can navigate folders by folder name, and within folders the music tracks are listed and played in order of their file names. I have recently copied the files to a NAS (Zyxel NAS310), hoping to play from the NAS in the same way. While I can navigate folders as I would expect, within folders the music tracks are listed and played in an order that...

Something odd has happened. The play/pause next/previous buttons on my Naim App on iPad do not work for my NDX. They are working perfectly for all our Musos. I noticed this problem earlier tonight, checked for an update (there was one v8.5.2) and downloaded it but the same problem is there. I have restarted the iPad but no difference. Is this a bug? Thanks, Tom

Hello, New user here. My new Atom does not recognize neither a USB CD-DVD player nor my smartphone (Samsung S7 edge) with the cable. Neither the front nor the rear ports. The smartphone works fine through Bluetooth aptX and the USB ports recognizes a USB hard disk ith no problem. Any idea what's going on? Thanks!

I've had my Nova 2 weeks now, though been away for one of those so it's all still new to me. I've got an odd issue where Internet Radio seems to stream fine for around 3 - 3.5 hours then stops. It doesn't cough or splutter, just stops. To restart the stream I have to select another favourite, then reselect the stream I was originally listening to. Initially I thought this was limited to the BBC Radio 2 HD stream, but trying others showed they did the same (Radio 2 non-HD for example), EXCEPT...

Am contemplating adding a poly to my mojo. That would make a roon endpoint, I think? Anyone done this?

When most available stations are 320kb/s or less? I know there is Tidal which is 1440kb/s or something, but that is CD and no doubt isn’t error free. Or flaw free. Please elucidate as I discovered the radio on my HDX, but at 320kb/s it’s just something for background noise while the builders work. But an NDS with 2x 555PS for 320kb/s is overkill when you can’t save stuff locally!! No doubt an NAS has flaws simply because of it NOT being local e.g. Ethernet, router issues.
