Streaming Audio

A slightly convoluted request for advice, please - a bit of background for reference: I've been running an ancient Netgear 4 bay NAS since 2010, and it's now ripe for renewal. I've only ever used this for file storage, but the replacement NAS will also be used to stream to my SU2 - I've previously streamed exclusively from Tidal. Do not do the naim firmware IOS 11 update if you still want to use your playlists. Some code must be missing because I can not acesss playlists now, I did both my phone and IPad and both have the same issue. My wife had not did the firmware update on her phone and we can still access playlists and the songs on her iPhone. I called the Naim importer for North America and they confirmed or were pretty sure that the issue is in the firmware update .

I have a Netgear ReadyNAS Duo purchased 2010 with 2 Seagate Baracuda 1TB drive (x-raid). I store my PC data, software and music via Twonky (acceptable!). Getting message that one of the disks is failing so I'm researching replacement disks. I'm at 94% capacity so was thinking of going up to 2TB. The disks are quite pricey at least £100 plus So my thought turned to whether it worth spending money on that or buying a new unit with 2x 2TB drives Any recommendations please ?

I am on the verge of jumping into a purchase of an ND5 XS. Or maybe an NDS. But I keep reading about how awful the Naim streaming app is. As well as being generally less good than the Sonos app/interface, it appears to have constant bugs and become unusable after updates etc. I don't want to upgrade my sound (Sonos ZP90-->ND5) at the cost of usability/functionality. Is this still an issue, or is the Naim app now sorted and operating as you would expect a Naim product to operate? Thanks! Matt

My Unitiserve sits in a metal rack in my 'data-rack' along with my Sky Box,DVD Player, Netgear NAS drives, Sonos Amps and bridges, Zyxel Switches, etc.. My question is whether or not it would work better - in either or both of its functions to rip or to serve - if it sat instead in a dedicated rack like Fraim, Quadraspire, etc.. ?

So got the free 60 day trial email open to all Uniti peeps, kudos to Naim, but sadly having better success with the Naim app. I do not run a server all my tunes are via USB and Tidal. When setting up Room it stays stuck on the choose your core ... Am I doing something wrong ?

Having NDX + XPS5 PS as a “starting point” and with NDS + 555 PS as the “ultimate goal” which has to be reached in two steps (for financial reasons) I see two options, each involving an interim solution: 1. I have a multi room NaimNet system with a NNP01 room amp for the main room and NNP03 amps for other rooms with multi sources including a HDX, LP12 turntable and SKy box for TV sound. This is controlled by the iLinx app on an iPhone and iPad. Withe the latest version of IOS however, ILinx no longer works as it does not seem to have been upgraded for some time and certainly not for the new IOS. Is there any other way of controlling the system that works pending upgrading to a Unite driven system?

For the first time in 8 years of happy HDX ownership I encountered a ripping error with a newly acquired CD (Steeleye Span - Winter). On each of two tracks (track 8 and 10 if you know the album) a single error showed up on the ripping monitor on each of the two tracks. Recently, I've noticed that quite a few download albums I'm after are not available in the UK on the familiar download sites. But they are available on their US counterpart. I've heard talk of VPN is this a legit way to access these sites. Assume there is some reason these albums are not on sale on the UK sites - not as if I'm unwilling to pay the going price and I can buy stuff from the Amazonian River in the US. In the Naim app on my iPad there is an option to show the volume control on the lower ‘now playing’ bar but this option does not seem to exist with the Android version on my Samsung Galaxy S8. I’m considering buying a Samsung tablet and would not like to lose that function. Is this option also missing on the android tablet version?

For a while now I have dedicated on old iPad to run the Naim App in our main listening area. It runs iOS 9.3.5. The latest update to the App takes it to 5.8.2 and the App Store description states that it requires iOS 9.3 or later. Hi guys hope your well. I’m a long time reader but first time poster. Recently the upgrade bug has hit a little and I’m planning on trading in my uniti 2 and getting a dac v1. Anyhow I have been looking into streaming from the laptop/computer and I was wondering if anybody has tried the tidal app in the exclusive mode and peoples experience with it. Or is it still better to go through a third party software such as audirvana? Many thanks in advance

Out of the box this work fine, my tv has ARC support, I could simply quick select speaker output to the Nova job done. But now whatever I do the TV will no longer detect the HDMI input, tried a Nova reset to manually setup with the TV, but every which way the Nova does not play ball. TV wise nothing has changed, only the Naim app software updates but see no link there. Anyone any ideas, having the same, having no issues or just finding HDMI yet another input not being used.

I'm in the process of ripping about 1100 cd's to an external storage (QNAP) using a Unitiserve for rip and replay. My cd collection was stored on a fairly large shelf. I'm using the Naim app to stream and have been for a number of years but I have recently noticed that the artwork (album cover) is not showing on new items I have recently added to my iTunes library. My Mac is up to date with the latest MACOS High Sierra version 10.13 and both my iPad and iPhone are also up to speed. Anyone able to offer a solution?

I recently took a break from ripping CDs, fiddling with metadata or listening to music on my new Core. Then I discovered that if I simply sit on the sofa with nothing else happening, the Core makes an ongoing noise*. It's not the hard disc doing anything (I think), it's just a noticeable background.
