Streaming Audio

There appears to be a general consensus that the PS supplied by Naim with the US is less than ideal. Before spending up to £1,000 on a 3rd party product, can anyone tell me if the huge improvement in SQ applies to what is sent from the US to the streamer, or is it limited purely to music played via SPDIF connection from the US to a music system. I inserted a CD Into my Star, while listening to Internet Radio, and noticed that the Rip/Place screen failed to appear. I then tried to play the CD from the iOS app. The CD screen appeared but it would not play. I ejected the CD, put the Star into network standby mode and back on again and the player behaved normally. I tried several times with the same result - Is this normal behaviour (I must admit I rarely play CDs these days)?

Hi, I don't know where else to post this. I have a new Asus Zenfone 2 551 ML cellphone, with quasi 60GigaB of free space, that I want to use for some lossless music to listen around (the furnished earplugs are unsuspectedly good, and music is really pleasant in this mobile version). I cannot help but feel a lot of time and effort will go into keeping the one app for old and new Uniti products where progress will be hobbled to keep owners of legacy streamers happy ( I own SU and UQ) quite possibly leaving both a bit dissatisfied. I think a clean break is preferable, get the current legacy app stable and then only update as Tidal/Spotify internet radio requires and move forward with the new platform without one arm tied to historic products.

Core supports "Apple File system" (HFS) for internal and external locally attached storage. Apple has started the big move to APFS, which is a new file system. IOS has already gone, High Sierra OSX has it for most machines. Is Core going to languish on HFS or is there going to be updated support for APFS? I have grudgingly coming to terms that my CD transport sounds better than my digital file player. Hey guys! I just switched my ND5-XS combo against a Unit Atom and can't believe that the super bright and therefore annoying display can't be switched off?!?! Already contacted naim about this and they responded its not possible at the moment to turn it off. I mean are they serious? Dilemma: I took the CD5 off my system some years ago. Now I have NAC112x / NAP150x / FlatCap1 (2001) / DAC v1 which all runs off to Dynaudio Contour 1.1’s. Hi All. Anyone else w/ a Mu-So suddenly getting Tidal issues? As of this morning, Tidal is pausing mid playback and doesn't resume unless I hit play again on the app. I'm experiencing this when using both the Android and iPod Touch apps (not sure the apps have anything to do with it). I've reset the Mu-So and apps, but it's still happening. Mu-So is hardwired to the local LAN and I've got a gigabit fiber connection that seems to be fine. Any guidance would be appreciated. The latest review of Uniti Nova in Hi Fi News indicates that Uniti Nova first converts Analog inputs to Digital. Just wondering whether it is true always. Or is it done only for the cases when the music from analog inputs need to be streamed in multi rooms. Regards, Sourav

Hi all. Bit of a beginner question I'm afraid. On verge of buying a used Uniti 2. My digital library is on a laptop that I manage using JRiver (very happy with software) and I use JRemote app on my IPad wired into existing amp. If I buy the Uniti 2 can I continue using JRiver and JRemote but connect via wifi to the Uniti ? All advice is helpful. Thanks Ian.

OK. After a fruitless afternoon trying to yet again, get Tidal to stream on my ND5XS, I've just about decided to give up on the bl**dy thing. Other than a minor miracle occurring to suddenly make it work, I've decided to dump Tidal music streaming with NAIM and investigate buying files/ripping CD's for playback. I'll be keeping the streamer because it streams intenet radio perfectly well (oh, hallelujah at least THAT works) and it gets the audio from my TV into the Hifi system. I suppose...

I have just purchased a Naim Core to replace my Unitiserve, used with a NAC-N272, 250DR and PMC PB1i Signatures. i operate the system with an IPad Pro. Unfortunately, the streamer fails to respond much of the time and even when I can get it working, it will go off-line regularly. Hi all out there… having a recurring issue with my Naim HDX and wondering if anyone has an idea how to sort. Hi I currently use an NDS on a 500 system ......... I have a NUC pc running Roon core ..... would it be possible to connect Roon core to a Raspberry PI endpoint and send the signal via coaxial digital to NDS input ..... simply using the DAC side of the NDS..... or could I use WIFi from NUC to NDS ... directly, NUC is not that far from NDS so signal is strong ...... any thoughts and advice.....

Hi all, i dont often use airplay, but today I wanted to, but realised that it is not working. I have 2 Qbs and one Mu so, but none appears in the list of airplay devices. I have an Apple TV which shows up fine. Everything else on the Mu sos is working perfectly - streaming Tidal, multi-room, high res, etc. etc. All Musos hard wired to a switch and then to the router, BT HH5.
