Streaming Audio

I have the opportunity to trade my ND5XS plus my 250-2 for a non DR Nap 300 obviously this leaves me without a dedicated streamer and in need of a renderer of some sort. My main source is my LP12 and I use the ND5XS only for streaming Tidal or Internet Radio I do not have a Nas any CD'S and only own 20 or so High Res music files and maybe a 100 mp3 type files in the shape of free downloads that came with the vinyl copy. I already have a Chord 2Qute and an old USB to Spdif converter that I...

Three weeks since the last one! Following all the missed deadlines, has Naim given up? “6th September Dear Forum Members, I am pleased to say that we are still on-track to release Uniti Star in September. The teams are working hard putting the finishing touches on the software and thoroughly testing all functionality. Alongside the release will be new iOS and Android apps to include Uniti Star functionality...”

if Anyone was in any doubt About the sense of using flac over anything else, the announcement that apple’s new os’s support flac natively. should nail the conversation once and for all.

Hello, after updating to iOS 11 on my iPhone and iPad, the n-serve app still starts, but there are shown no entries in any view (albums, artists etc.). Is n-serve anymore running with iOS 11? How can I manage my ripped files with Apple devices like iPhone and iPad? I hope, that naim will support the Unitiserve futhermore. Thanks for reporting your experience.

I purchased a QNAP 453 Pro. However i am having problems with the scannable network shares. After updating i will get an error. Chris and Jonathon from Naim have looked at it several times and done some changes on the NAS but the problem persists. Has anyone else had this problem? See link for photo. https://imgur.com/a/HWSTB

I'm a bit confused in terms of quality resolution. I get MP3 and 16/44 also, say the first level of hi res at 24/96. But where would 'Mastered for Itunes' fit in the scale? and what does the term mean used by 7digital ' 320kbps MP3 + 320kbps M4A' Thanks

Here’s something where I’d be grateful for your guidance. I have a great album by Steve Wilson ripped at 16 bit 44.1kHz, called “Transience” and on it are tracks from other albums of his which I’ve downloaded in 24bit 96kHz. I would like to replace the 16 bit versions with the 24 bit ones, but I know the HDX uses two separate folders: Music and Downloads, and I think one isn’t to touch the Music folder. I would just love to use my PC though and replace the 16 bit tracks as the 24 bit ones...

Hi Based on a comment by Timo, I've hooked up my RPi with a DragonFly Black in one of the USB ports. The RPi has the iFi Linear PS. The DragonFly is connected to my Supernait by an AudioQuest Evergreen 3.5 to Phono cable. the RPi is connected to the network by cable. I've loaded Raspotify and upmpdcli / MPD on the RPi. I can stream Spotify and all music files from my NAS now. Tidal libaries are also available, but I don't use Tidal. I use the Spotify and HI-FI Cast Apps to control things. It...

Hello, I've temporary stopped my Tidal subscription. But the Naim app displays a login popup every time when a new song selection is done. Does anyone know how to disable this popup? Best regards, Gerard.

Everything has been going well, I am happy with the sound etc. When I first set up with a Win 10 PC, Norton, I had to go into the firewall, identify the Melco by name and ip address. I could then delete files, add cover pictures and so on. Then the internet disappeared for a day, I switched off the router/wifi and on starting up again the ip address of every item had changed. So I delete the entry in the firewall, add the new ip address and now it doesn't matter which browser I use, I get a...

i had the opportunity to try the dlink tcxo switch ( paul pang) powered by hdplex linear ps. The price is around 150GBP. I had now the cisco 2960 8tc. Alone, it is a bit edgy on my ears. I put an acoustic revive lan isolator between the router and the cisco and also a high quality power cord: the edginess had gone away. The tcxo powered by my high quality ps gave a little more details on some tracks but very minor ones. The cisco , as tweaked as described, gives more focus, body and bass, by...

Hi all I'm new to the forum and would welcome some feedback on this particular issue. I took delivery of a uniti nova last week and am mostly happy although some minor issues have arose and I wondered if anyone else had the same experience. I use tidal for all my listening and have found that occasionally when pressing play on playlist or album it will either only play the first song or play the first song and then skip forward several tracks ( I made sure I hadn't pressed shuffle) .

My cheap Logitech bluetooth adapter has a longer range than my Uniti 2's internal bluetooth receiver. When I move my phone around the house, or go to another room, Uniti 2 music is cut off. How is this possible ?

Hi, Has anyone had the problem where, when you select an album on the app, you get "No Results" in the track listing, and when you click "Properties" in the Desktop Client on the album you get an error saying "Invalid Parameter supplied, Parameter name : Address" ? Have this problem with a bunch of my favourite albums. The directory seems fine, and the tracks play in media player. Re-scanned many times.

Hi there, I've been told I need to update by firmware from 3.17 to the current one for the new version of the app to work (5.7.5) on ios. Does anyone have experience of that move clearing up connection problems - or is anyone on 3.17 and using the app problem free? TIA

This is a very recent problem...hoping one of you may have a fix. QB in the kitchen...Atom in the lounge. When playing Tidal in the kitchen, music cuts after the playing song is finished if another song is played in the lounge....works both ways. At first I thought it was wifes app in kitchen, and perhaps running two apps simultaneously wasn't a good thing. So tried choosing different tunes on one app for both sources. Still the same. It never used to be a problem...started a week ago.

Hi all. FLAC is always lossless though is it not? My understanding is as follows: FLAC is lossless. It's a compression which is reversed when the FLAC file is played. Cupertino has been open from its lossless audio codec (ALAC), ALAC can reduce the amount of memory required for audio files by up to 50% without losing the originally recorded fidelity, which is not as lossy as MP3 and AAC, but when I converted my FLAC to ALAC, I failed for known reason, I downloaded a program from a giveaway...

Hi, I posted a query on Virgin's website regarding an ongoing issue I have had since taking their service. http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Speed/TIDAL-buffering-and-disconnection-issues/td-p/3532592 During the early evening I experience buffering issues and playback stops on my ND5 SX. Occasionally they also stop playing in the afternoon. If I leave a playlist on repeat, I can guarantee it will stop playing. I have had techs confirm the connection is good (up to 108mbps), had the devices...

Hi all, Just wondering if anyone is using iStumbler to analyse their wi-fi network quality? Did you find it helpful in identifying glitches and improving signal quality? Then onto the Apple...anyone using Apple's Airport Express? How's the SQ vs an Ethernet cable? Do you find cable noticeably better of does the AE do the trick in providing a strong and robust wi-if signal? How far is the AE away from your streaming device? Have you compared the AE wireless and wired? Any difference in SQ?
