Streaming Audio

Naim calls both Star and Nova all-in-one players which sounds a bit misleading because Nova does not play CDs. What are the differences between these two players? Apart from the obvious CD playing capabilities and the 70W v 80W per channel. Does Nova have higher quality components compared to the Star? Does the Star have a hard drive like Nova? Does Nova allow the user to connect an external CD player and rip CDs into it?

As the title suggests. Is there any reason why this is happening that can be fixed? I have all my music stored on a NAS (Seagate Personal Cloud) which I access readily through the Naim app.. The Seagate app used to do the same but was sorted in an update and all the tracks list and play in the correct order through that app but not through the naim app. Regards Leon

I rip tracks from CD's using DbPoweramp, and play from my NAS using Asset. So far everything has been fine but the latest CD I ripped has produced an odd result - I can see all the tracks on the NAS, and I can play all the tracks if I use the Naim app on my iphone BUT if I use the remote I can only see one track in the NDX display, and only that track will play. I assume that, given a supplied bandwidth ("speed") of 144Mbps and a download speed of 11 to 15Mbps, upgrading from a router rated at 300Mbps would not deliver any advantage, for instance for more than one device working at a time?

As we all know, R3 is trialing Radio 3 using FLAC lossless. We can currently listen to the Proms better on our PCs using Firefox (?!) In the rating they ask you to complete, they ask if they should make it permanent (?!!!!). Of course they should make it permanent! What a silly question! Is there an alternative now that it's possible? Now that 70+ Mb broadband is becoming more and more available they should be thinking soon of 24 bit 96KHz Dear Auntie. Hi all, While I was battling to get TIDAL to work on my NDX I saw a very useful feature on the iPad app which has since disappeared. I was listening to a track on my UpNP server (Glenn Gould, Goldberg variations) and at the bottom of the screen a whole bunch of tidal suggestions related to this track (other Glenn Gould recordings) with little clickable icons. Guys Please help! I'd love to hear some Hi-res on my system. I have a tidal Hifi sub however it appears "hifi masters" is only available via the desktop application however this app doesn't appear to support chromecast? Is there a workaround? Is my only other option Qobuz? Can you stream hi-res with the qobuz desktop / iphone and webbased apps? Any advice for a workable solution would be greatly appreciated! :) Leon

Hello, after a longer journey through many issues with my faulty Uniti Core Naim has replaced the device with a new one. Good news: it starts, restarts, has noch clicking noise any more and imports all of my music without and issue. One thing I ran into: in the past the core generated a file called "meta.naim" within any album folder during (or right after) import of music. For example 123 albums result in 123 files "meta.naim" in 123 album folders. Now there is NO "meta.naim" file anymore.

I recently purchased the Uniti Core do go with my Naim NDS & 555Dr. I was using a Older HDX and Synology for my music . I figured out you can not transfer playlists !i did get all my ripped music files over to The Uniti Core and backed up to the Synology. In starting new playlist on the Uniti Core I wanted to move some songs around and change the playing order. I could not figure out how to edit playlists on the Core. Is there a way? Good evening guys (gender inclusive), I've just downloaded my first 24/96 music and copied it onto my NAS. I'm playing this through a wired Ethernet network to an Oppo 205 universal player then to Naim stuff. Up until now, when playing 16/44 or 24/44 audio the system works pretty well with approx 3-5 seconds delay when changing tracks. Having some problems with a system comprising UnitiLite, Muso and Muso QB. Running a Synology server with MinimServer. All devices connected wirelessly and wired is not really an option. My son's about to return to Uni. His room in a shard house has wifi access but no wired points. Could he use an Apple Airport Express to connect to the wifi, and then hang a wired switch off that? He'd then have his Qute, his Pi / USB storage and computer wired to the switch. Is there something more suitable to achieve this? (Most uses of the Express seem to be about extending the wifi network - this isn't what he needs.)

Had a chance to compare Atom and Nova in my system with and without an external pre amp/amp. The verdict is Nova is surely steps ahead of Atom both while using its internal amplification as well as with external amplifier/pre-amp.
