Streaming Audio
I have a Netgear ReadyNAS DUO in study upstairs with two 1TB drives which I store my PC data, Software and Ripped and downloaded Flac files. This is connected to Router and via Cat 5 connects to my Naim kit in lounge All fine, but I am thinking the Twonky media software is a bit clunky these days plus I would have thought with the advent of SSD could do better Therefore any recommendation please ? - bearing in mind it not just holding music but is my files and software also Thanks
Hi - Am considering a Uniti Core connected to my NAC 272. To control it from an iPad does it need to be connected separately to my network, or can I simply connect it to one of the digital inputs on my 272? Thanks
Hi - Am considering a Uniti Core connected to my NAC 272. To control it from an iPad does it need to be connected separately to my network, or can it only be connected to one of the digitally inputs on my 272? Thanks
After set up I have lost sound / volume everything seems ok connected via iPad to Naim DAC1
good evening, I currently have 2x Sonos Play 1 in my lounge and very happy with the usability but with a house move I'm looking to upgrade to naim which i have coveted since a kid and get multiroom streaming. My 1st option would be to get an atom (when it is released) with neat iota alpha speakers and have multiroom streaming through 2 x Muso qb in bedroom and kitchen and changing to the naim app interface or more than likely use spotify connect. My second option would be to stick with the...
I have become a big fan of Roon and have been hoping that the rumours of Naim integrating Roon into the new range of streamers would come to fruition. But I have now got tired of waiting . Is anyone out there using Roon with an NDX/nDAC ? If so what are you using to deliver Roon to the NDX/NDAC
The idea of this thread is to collect open technical questions about the Uniti Core and, hopefully, come up with some answers. The idea is to help Core users and perspective buyers understand how the device works. Please no comparisons, discussions on advantages, disadvantages, merits, cost, sound quality, delays, etc! Here we go with a first batch of tech. questions to which I have currently no answers: 0. Is there a sanctioned way moving a file (set of files) from the music folder to the...
I am thinking of going along the streaming route to store and access my CD collection A Naim dealer has suggested the following: Naim ND5 XS QNAP HS-251+ Western digital 'RED' storage DEVOLO dLAN 650+ for use with my mains cabling using dBpoweramp to rip discs Are there any cheaper ways of getting a good result Would I be right in thinking it is the quality of the Naim streamer and its DAC which will give me the quality I am looking for and retaining the PRaT I already have Current system is...
Spent the whole afternoon with some headphone time, which I had not done in quite a while. Can say it was magical. I think the Grado PS500e's are magical in themselves, certainly my favorite can, although have not heard their PS2000's, like them better than the bigger diaphram 1000 -faster lightning quick. The 272 as no need for an external headphone amp at least with their easy load and high res rips from the core sounded amazing... That is all...
Running latest Android on galaxy s7 edge naim app freezes if you step out of the app and return . Was working fine before. Have uninstalled the app and downloaded . No improvements. Anyone facing this issue ? Driving me nuts.
As well as playing ripped CD's through my HDX, I want to stream my Apple music from my phone through my main Naim system as well. My amp is the 202 - any recommendations as to what will give the best quality ? From the apple website I got this information: In order of quality (lowest first) Aiport Express Analogue AAC Airport Express Analogue AIFF Aiirport Express Digital AAC Airport Express Digital AIFF Burned CD AAC Burned CD AIFF Original CD As far as I can tell the 202 will only take...
BubbleUPnP has some advantages over the Naim app as a control point, but I've only just discovered that BubbleUPnP's seek slider doesn't work with my Naim NAC-N 272. If I try using the slider to fast forward through a track, I get a small popup message saying 'Seek mode not supported (code: 710)'. I found a post in this forum from nearly 2 years ago about a similar problem with the Muso. It quoted BubbleUPnP's developer as saying the error message came from the Naim renderer. Naim's network...
As Apple doesn't except apps written in 32 Bit anymore, what about the app n-serve? At the moment I can't update my iPad to iOS 11 because of n-serve. Does anybody know if Naim is planning an update?
I have an HDX-SSD attached to a Synology NAS and I have a recurring fault whereby n-Serve crashes when creating a new playlist. The playlist is created and seems ok, although on one occasion I have lost some without any notice. The HDX and n-Serve are up to date. Rebuilding the indexes (on advice from a Naim dealer) seemed to fix the problem, but it came back after the first HDX reboot - I usually close the system down overnight. The problem is more of a nuisance than anything else, although...
I have NDX => Hugo 1 => Conrad Johnson Pre-amp What are the "recommended" volume settings for the Hugo Set the Hugo to Line level output via Crossfeed and on/off switch or Set the volume of the Hugo via Volume knob as required. Thanks in advance.
Hi - I currently have a NAIT XS2 integrated amp and a ND5XS streamer/DAC. I’m considering replacing the NAIT with an upgrade to either a NAC-202/NAP200DR (using my current streamer), or alternatively a NAC-N272/NAP-250DR (ex the ND5XS.) Is there any significant difference between the NAC-N272’s built-in streamer/DAC vs. my stand-alone ND5XS streamer/DAC? Many thanks for your input
When I play music via the internal streaming app the screen displays the sample rate of the file, is there a similar feature for displaying sample rate on the coax or optical inputs? Just want to try my Bluesound and Mini Mac, but can't find a way to prove what sample rate they are outputting.
Hi, I have a basic Naim setup, SN2 amp, Dac v1 , Speakers are B&W 804D + DB1 sub and using currently a Sonos Connect as a digital source, this is sub optimal i know as i was previously using a mac mini with jRiver and got tired of the maintenance of updates etc as the mac didn't have a monitor connected. Now i am relocating my system to the office i am looking to revamp the digital source The problem is the market of digital sources to feed a DAC seems pretty limited and seem to be 1.
FYI to those waiting for a Atom just noticed that the uniti progress thread has been updated again and says further delays to Uniti range. Looks like the certification is still pending and Atom are due to be shipped now mid May (allegedly.) This seems contrary to what they are telling dealers as mine assured me only this morning it would be available next week. I know a lot are bored with peoples complaints but this just drags on and on. At this rate the technology inside it goes to be...
i installed some kit for a friend of mine. A unitilite, muso and muso QB. At first this all worked well. Then they started to hit some gremlins. First off the Multiroom facility kept playing up, which was a pain but could always be fixed for a while by turning all the streamers off and then on again. Next up, they hit the 'ghost' problem, but with a twist. The 'ghost' problem with unitilite is where the thing turns itself on in the middle of the night. For them the symptoms were different -...
just noticed that someone has posted a core for sale on a well known site, after only a couple of weeks use. such short shelf life does not bode well? hope it's not the start of a slippery slope for the new units
Judging by the press release from Naim regarding the launch of Airplay 2 it seems as though there will not be any support for the Mu-so range of products. If this is the case then its very disappointing. I own two mu-so's and a Qb and I've all but given up on trying to multi-room with them. I love the look and also the sound from the Mu-so but they have to go now...I've had 16 months of frustration and there seems to be little light at the end of the tunnel. P
I have a found a thread titled 'Installing MinimServer on a Melco N1' at http://minimserver.com/install-melco.html Is this be applicable to the N1ZH, has anyone tried installing MinimServer to an N1ZH? Also, I have Twonky installed on a separate NAS and for which I can manage via a web interface at http://192.168.1.161:9000/ How can I manage Twonky on my N1ZH? I have tried http://192.168.1.171:9000/ but to no avail (.171 is the IP of my N1ZH)
I recently upgraded the firmware on my Qnap Hs251 NAS to ver 4.3.3. And now my Naim Uniti Qute2 can't see the UPnP media files. And get the 'source Err. unable to browse' notice on my Qute. Not sure if the firmware upgrade is the cause or just coincidence. Does anyone have any suggestions?
As many who are post-CD most of my digital music are tons downloads as well as RIPs of some LP's. Some of these are high-res files, some are high-res rips from LP or other source and some are just the thousands of tracks downloaded from iTunes over the years. It would really be nice if there were a way to create subfolders or even just have a folder view like Minim, Asset or Synology. That way things could be broken down. For instance I have a folder of Jazz LP's, a Folder of Rock LP's that...
