Streaming Audio

A simple problem, hopefully a simple solution: I have one version of an album ripped from a CD and stored on my NAS; I have downloaded a hi-res version of the same album onto my laptop and transferred it to the NAS. I have renamed the folder for the second version in order to distinguish it from the first rip. When I view the folders on the NAS the 2 versions appear as separate folders below the artist name, as expected. However, when I view the files in the Naim app on my IPad I do not see...

This is a thread for owners of the ND5XS streamer to come out and sing its praises or not what ever your experience please share it. Have you felt the need to upgrade it with an NDX a PSU or a Chord dac or an Ndac and if so what were your experiences or have you like me lived with it for a year or more on its own.

@Simon - Any tips/instructions on how to configure the cisco switch? I've had great acoustic results using the switch. However, there is a lag in finding the UnitiServ and/or NAS when using the switch (Maybe a upnp lag). Thanks!

Hi everyone, this is my first post. The main reason is I'm so, so happy with my new Hi fi system, that I waned to tell it. It took me a lot of years to find good sound quality for just a reasonable expense... Amazing combination Unitiqute 2 and Audio physic Classic 10. I've bought this speakers to upgrade my old B&W p6, and it's absolutely astonishing the openness of the scene. The very good indeed Naim has a lot of synergy with these loudspeakers... It deserves a special mention the...

I've today discovered, from reading another thread, that it's possible to upscale 16 bit recordings to 24 bit, using Asset. I currently transcode my FLAC files to WAV, but keeping the native bit depth. So I thought I'd give upscaling a go. It's certainly different. The imaging is more tightly defined, and it sounds clearer and cleaner. Very organised. But maybe less engaging- more academic sounding. It reminds me of when I tried Chord Odyssey cables instead of NacA5 - everything was very...

This is a weird one. And annoying. I bought a Uniti Core recently to replace a Unitiserve, and have been using my Synology NAS for music storage (no internal drive in the Core). I have my music files in a few different shared folders on the NAS, with the bulk in one folder but a few other files in different folders. All of these folders are selected to be scanned in the Naim iOS app, and for awhile all the music files showed up on the app. However, about 2 weeks ago the app lost track of all...

I have a NAC272 using a qnap 3 TB hard drive that is connected via the electric circuit using the ethernet connection. I have apple devices and use the naim app to control my music. The issue is this. For example Jean michel jarres electonica 1 cd. nearly every track is with another artist and when I first started using dbpoweramp I simply loaded it and pressed rip. When I tried playing the cd via the artist route on the naim app I found about 13 different entries for the same cd, each one a...

Hello When installing my MUSO I get to the point in my APP that says "Choose the network you want mu-so to connect to" However there are none shown. What's the story? Lou

Quick question. I have a NAS drive with library A, ripped via SSD ... in paralllel I have a second system with another NAS containing library B also ripped via Naim equipment. If I mounted both NAS drives on my mac and merged the 2 libraries onto one physical drive, either A or B, maintaining the logical file structure, would the Naim application pick up all the metadata and give me a full combined library? Or would the fact that I'm effectively dragging and dropping Naim rips into and...

I have been using a sonos connect for many years, feeding my Naim Dac V1 via digial coaxial cable. Very happy overall but I cannot shake the feeling that the sound 'flavour' has somewhat altered over time. This could simply be me getting older of course :-) That and/or... Sonos making changes to the connect. I recently came across a few post investigating exactly that and supporting that the connect is no longer bit perfect. The person looking into this found a slight compression (1db) on...

Long story short. Have been streaming via Minim server and HP elitebook wireless for a while. I just ordered a Qnap NAS, Switch and WD Reds so have been searching the forum. Saw that a lot of folks are using Asset so I downloaded it in advance of the QNAP arriving to get a feel for it. Needless to say, IMO it CRUSHES minim for sound quality even streaming from my elitebook or am I just crazy?

I downloaded 'Let It Be Told' (from Bandcamp - highly recommended) by Julian Arguelles and the Frankfurt Radio Big Band. I ran the files through Metadatics and shortened the album/track artist to Julian Arguelles. But on the Naim app he appears as julian Arguelles. Re-editing and capitalising the 'j' has no effect. Any ideas?

Finally did it...bit the bullet and invested in N272, Uniti Core and Kudos Super Twentys to partner my (somewhat older) 250. After one or two false starts with wireless networking, now rediscovering my CD collection as I rip them to the Core! The Kudos speakers are such a revelation and continue to improve the more they run in... just another few CDs to rip now... Big thanks to Pete (& Geoff) at Acoustica Chester for their advice, demos and installation expertise!

Thanks for all replies I have tried deleting the app as well I will shut down the switches as well tomorrow. This problem is on going that's why I am reinstating my CD player am fed up with the unreliability of it all.

I'm sure I've seen something similar on the forums before, but can't seem to find it. Yesterday I fired up QFinder Pro on my Mac, and it "couldn't find my NAS". Looking in BTHomeHub6 it doesn't seem to be one of the connected devices, but if I look in Finder on the Mac it's definitely there, and I can play music files from it on my NDS. I think the last time I tried to use Qfinder was before I "upgraded" from homehub5 (not sure 6 is any better!) I've tried unplugging the NAS from my network,...

Hi. Can someone tell me where the files that store the playlists on the Core is located? What is the suffix of the files? Dot what? Thanks.
MonkadillPosted: 06 May 2017Last Updated: 08 May 2017
its quite common for me to make a play list on my NAIM app on my Samsung Galaxy s9 only for the tracks to become unavailable for the playlist a day later. The songs are still there and playable and nothing was moved on my NAS. The APP version is 2.0 build 1548 Does anyone have a for this?

Hi guys, I have a 272 and was wondering if the step up from XPS DR to 555PS DR is that important? I searched here and found one person who went recently this route and was ecstatic about the SQ improvement, but that is not a statistically significant sample obviously Have others done this upgrade and is there such a jump in SQ? thanks!

I have a large amount of music ripped in .WAV file format. Is there anyway to get the Uniti Core to understand Genre information or to be able to separate rock from jazz from classical etc. I know you need to put each album in a folder with the artists name and each album needs the .jpg of the album art. Is there any further ability to tweek what it views as the metadata. I am getting confused trying to figure out how to best organize this.

I haven't seen an answer to this during a forum search but apologies if its already covered...... Having just returned to hifi after a "new family" induced layoff i have bought a unitiqute 2 and am now considering a further purchase of either a uniticore or unitiserve. My question is, has anyone ever heard the two of these side by side and has an opinion on the relative sonic performances of each? Thanks

I've read quite often that adding a switch between the NDX and router provides a good increase in SQ. I've also read that putting cheap "wall wart" type power supplies on the same circuit as the HiFi can "pollute" the electricity going into the components thus decreasing SQ. So I am wondering if adding a switch with a cheap power supply will result in a net improvement in SQ. (I only have one outlet and I use a "Highly regarded power strip") I know I can just buy one and listen for myself...

Hi everybody, Even if i am not concerned as an asset user, i could observe that on the last firmware update, twonky licence is not supported anymore and is not working anymore. You will probably have to buy a licence for a newer version. Cheers everybody and happy listening.

Hi, wanting to play with my kit I am going to try and connect a vintage DAT player/recorder to my ND5 XS. Currently I have just the TV connected through the optical link and the analogue output of the ND5 feeds into the preamp. The idea is to use the 2 NBC IN/OUT ports on the ND5 as in/out inlet fro the DAT. Will it work? Well, I am waiting for the cables I have ordered, so will let you know. But if it does it will be fun!!!

greetings to all, just taking the plunge into the Naim world with a Uniti Core yesterday which feeds into a MF NuVista CD for the dac. I seem to have two issues when ripping some of my obscure cds with no metadata how I manually edit cds and when on a playlist tracks are ending a few seconds short which is somewhat annoying. Uploading at moment via flac as per Naim recommendations if this makes a difference Cheers
