I reported an issue to Naim support just before Christmas: This is a note to let you know, if not already aware, that there is still a problem using slide-over under iOS 10.2 with the iPad Pro 9.7in model I am using. After deleting the app and doing a fresh install to re-initialise, the app appears on the scrolling list of apps available for slide-over. When selected, find rooms shows the available rooms but when one of these is selected it hangs trying to reconnect. Eventually the Naim app...

If I understand correctly, the last update was firmware-4.4.0 in Dec 2015. Is there going to be an update any time soon to improve the Tidal network latency problem - that's over a year now of Tidal stopping every +/- 5 tracks...

There is a security issue if NAC272 is used with a Spotify account. Here is the whole story: A fried of mine has used his Spotify account to replay his play list while being logged in my local network. That is OK and worked as designed. Today he was miles away with no access to my network. He opened his Spotify account and has seen my NAC272 as a possible device for play back. He tried it out and it worked. He changed from radio to Spotify and played his song list. In addition he was able to...

Hi All, Is there anything proprietary about the way that Uniti players connect to the UnitiServe? I am trying to make either a Macbook or Win laptop connect to stream music from my UnitiServe over uPNP. I am using VLC as the client on the laptops. They can discover the UnitiServe, but then cannot browse down the file structure or see any of the content. Any help much appreciated. Thanks

Hi, our Mu-So is in our bedroom and we do not like the fact that it emits light even though it is in deep sleep mode; for our own deepest, quietest sleep, we like it really dark at night in our bedroom. Therefore, we'd like to switch on and off the Mu-So with something like the Elgato Eve Energy, a smart power plug that can be commanded with Apple's Siri. This would completely switch off the power supply to the Mu-so and that would mean a "hard" switch off and - I guess - a restart in the...

am i correct that if i want to set up a dedicated streaming LAN (no internet) then all i need is a router (i have a Draytek 2920) and switch (i already have a GS108) -- and o course the streaming stuff (US and NDS). if so, i assume this is just a matter of connecting the switch to (any port?) on the router and then US and NDS connected to he switch? there is probably a question i have forgotten to ask :-( enjoy... ken

While I was in my local HiFi dealers a few days ago we were talking about possible improvements to my system that would be possible without breaking the bank. One that was suggested was to add a Ripper-Server rather than continue ripping on my PC using dbpoweramp. There are now various Ripper-Servers available at reasonable cost. I was surprised at this suggestion as I thought the general consensus was this method of ripping offered no sound quality improvements. Please tell me if I am...

I just ripped a CD and the core was vibrating and buzzing like my dad's old electric shaver. With my hand on the Core I was able to absorb most of the vibration. This happens every few disks that I rip. It's fairly disturbing and doesn't seem normal. There is no rhyme or reason to it as far as I can tell in terms of which disk trigger the noise and vibration. Has anyone else experienced this? And is it a problem? (I have the recommended SSD Drive )

I have a pair of B and W headphoes that I use with my iphone. After recently buying a 272 streamer I tried the headphones usig a 6.35 to 3.5 mm adaptor..However the sound is awful, loss of vocal and is basically unlistenable..Can I not use these headphones or should I purchase a pair with a standard 6.35mm jack plug

I am looking for advice to build a headphone only system, based around the Stax SR-L700 and the SRM-006ts energiser, and I find myself looking for a digital source from which to feed them. Your suggestions would be appreciated. I suppose the obvious thing for me to do would be to feed them from my ‘main system’, (my only system), which is based on a one box solution, a Naim Superuniti, but due to the significant break out from the Stax headphones the sound would be a nuisance to others using...

Hello, after having fun last nite with a new Upnp App, which suddenly did play my Superuniti with 100 through my living room, I am very glad, that my loudspeakers survived :-) So I decided now to set the max volume at the Superuniti to 50. So are there any negative impacts ? Or how is the max volume setting technical realized ? I heard, that through lowering volume less bits are used, but never fully understood the theory. So is the max volumes setting just a volume cut at 50 than, or is...

Yesterday I did a stress test of my WiFi setup to try to measure capacity and maybe gain insight into my weekly dropout when streaming 192k. I had 5 HD movies + 3 192K audio streams throughout our home. I ran this for about 12 hours. AFAICT, not a single dropout occurred during this time. Clearly WiFi is capable of streaming hi resolution music. There must be some infrequent "event" that disrupts the flow.... What could it be? My guess is maybe the automated backups of my server? (I have a...

I have read of problems with Core's software related to meta data editing and population during ripping. I don't need to rip any more CDs so I'm considering adding this to my system. I have read it has two modes BNC out and UPNP. Is it possible to run both simultaneously? Is the BNC mode better than simply plugging in a usb drive to my NDX? Would I need to convert my files to wav for best sound quality? (I currently run JRiver on my Mac and do on the fly conversion to wav from AIFF/ALAC) How...

I have a Uniti-2 connected to a Mac mini acting as a server. The Mac runs JRiver Media Centre 21 and the operation system is 10.9.5. All did work perfectly but yesterday I tried to use my Naim app on my iPad and iPhone and while the Naim app can still see the music library, when I want to play a song, it does not work. I can play songs when I use the JRemote app or when I navigate directly from the Naim Remote. I have to admit that I was tinkering a bit with the JRiver server software on my...

Hopefully this isn't old news, but it seems like the Beeb is exploring lossless streaming. http://www.bbc.co.uk/taster/pr...t-sound/inside-story Do I need any special equipment? Because the specification for how to do this is so new, only Firefox (51 or greater) on desktop is able to play our stream, but in time we hope other browsers, mobile devices and internet radio manufacturers will follow suit, and we are actively engaging with vendors to make this happen. You don’t need any special...

Hi all, I recently upgraded my computer to Windows 10 and now, when I access my music files via computer, the track listings on previous rips are showing in alphabetical order. They still appear on the App as in track list order. Has anyone experienced this before and if so, is there a setting on the computer/NAS that I need to re-set. NAS is QNAP 212 using Twonky Many thanks John

There have been a number of positive reports on the Mutec in the CA forum recently. I would be interested if someone here is using the MC-3+ Smart Clock USB to feed a Naim DAC and how does it fare in comparison with other SPDIF sources. Thanks, nbpf

Background In my youth, many years ago, I was a vigorous ‘hi-fi upgrader’—subject to the budgetary constraints imposed by youth. For many years now I’ve remained content with a venerable and reasonably basic Naim system comprising a CDX, NAC72 pre-amp and NAP140 power amp—playing through in-wall B&W Signature 8NT speakers (itself a constraint imposed by refurbishment of a top floor flat). I have for many years had a fairly modest collection of mainly classical CDs. The slippery slope...

When playing music from my NAS drive, using the MinimServer, the "bitrate" can be displayed in the Naim app, e.g. 'WAV 44.1 kHz 2116 kb/s" (for redbook flac file being transcoded to WAV) But if I stream using AirPlay, for example from the Google Play Music app on my iPad, no bitrate is displayed. Is there a way to also display bitrate for AirPlay streams? Or does that not make sense? Many thanks /Peter

1. Why are Naim streamers limited to online streaming services such as vTuner etc. and cannot stream directly from a user entered URL? 2. Why is only MP3 internet streaming possible and RealPlayer is notl? vTuner finds RealPlayer streams in its database, and saves them in the custom list, but the note says that Naim streamers cannot play them - why ???
