Streaming Audio

we live in Southern Ireland and are loyal listeners to Classic fm for many a year. Have graduated from oldies to classical music with the aid of this station. Yesterday morning it went off line and did not return until sometime this afternoon (11th. April) . I noticed also that a pure sensia and Roberts radio we have could not stream classic fm although all other stations were available. Delighted that it's back. Discovered that there was no break in streaming in the U.K. as I checked. I am...

I'm looking for the best way to stream Spotify to my Nac 102 / Nap 180 Combo. By 'best way' I mean getting the best possible sound for the cheapest possible methods. Finances are a bit tight ! so I'm currently steaming premium Spotify from my phone (oneplus 3) via the USB C port into an Audioquest Dragonfly DAC Black, then out of the Dragonfly via the 3.5mm jack to a line input on the Nac 102. It actually sounds pretty good - surprisingly ! But I'd like to try and improve the sound. I've...

My 3 year old UnitiServ is powered through Thor PS10 power filter, using Naim's 2-section cable supplied with US. The 'box' on the cable illuminates, indicating it is receiving power, but no AC wakes my dormant US. We've had a number of total power outages recently (monsoon season, lightning strikes). Now the US will not power up. Its companion SuperUniti works perfectly (it's on a custom-built power filter of its own), so do my other components (Oppo Blu-ray player, Panasonic DVR). The Thor...

I am about to embark on a project to move to streaming my CDs... to start with I can stream to my Marantz AV equipment which is integrated with my stereo Naim Hifi. So before I invest in a dedicated network player, that will do while I get the other hardware and software needed in place. To start with I have decided to go the NAS route, and need to size the disk drives (so I can run in RAID). At present my total (iTunes) music file is just about 100GB, mostly highest quality MP3, but some...

hi I have a new Muso and QB which I have had numerous issues setting up. Finally I have them working fine by setting static Ip addresses for each. However, I really want the QB in the kitchen but whenever I move the unit into the kitchen the Muso will not recognise it for multiroom . I have to take it back into the study attach an Ethernet cable and its back on the Muso multiroom . I can then unplug the Ethernet and it works fine on wifi until I unplug from the mains to move it again... I...

Hi all, I have been trying to stream from SD-card via a QNAP Qgenie (aka QG-103N) mobile NAS. It does not seem to work. It supports the UpNp Discovery and Bonjour protocols. I guess it should support UpNp AV to work with the UQ2 and Naim app. Does anybody know if there is a way to make this work? Other nice and clean (no RPi thanks) ways to make streaming from SD-card to Naim streamer work is greatly appreciated. Mange

Took delivery of my UnitiServe last week and whilst I am loving it so far, I find that the N-serve app on my iPhone crashes with unfathomable regularity. Whenever I rip a CD and create a new playlist, as soon as I add the tracks the app crashes and exits. It still creates the playlist and adds the tracks but I need to open it again every single time. Is there a fix for this, or has anyone had similar issues? Thanks

I was trying to buy some hi res album, has never done it before so I got a little surprised when I was denied to buy it. The reason: apparently I was living in the wrong place (Sweden) ??? Tested some different sites , all with the same message ... What's the point of buying streamers and DACs that can handle hi res files when you can't buy them ??

Is it even possible to do this? I've just bought an iMac and am inexperienced with the iOS system. My muso and iMac are connected via Ethernet switch and cat6 cable but I've no idea how to stream to it directly.

Anyone did an A/B between the Unitiserv SSD and the UnitiCore - used as a streaming device - don't care about the other outputs. I also don't care about the random issues people have been complaining about (metadata etc. etc). Bit surprised that it does not do USB out though.

Unfortunately NAIM-servers and streamers do not support the Flac-cue file format. Apparently not even the brand new UnitiCore won't support this according to the Dutch NAIM distributor. The Synology helpdesk confirms they are not planning to include it in their media server. Alternative servers on Synology (Minim Server, Plex, Logitech Media Server) do not or only partially support this format. NAIM apparently thinks that a media server should provide the support and Synology thinks that...

I am running Version 3.9 at the moment. I want to update to 4.4 Must I update to 4.3 first and then 4.4? Or can I go directly to 4.4 and also have the improvements that came with 4.3? Many thanks. Denis

QNAP or Synology NAS drive... anyone got any strong preference? I currently have an older generation Netgear ReadyNAS that's nearing its sell-by date. The ReadyNAS user interface is absolute rubbish (IMHO), somewhat less than intuitive to say the least. I want to venture out into the NAS world and find a more 'user friendly' product to store my music files on. It's going to sit in a cupboard in the lounge, so needs to be quiet (ish) and the UI needs to be easy to understand. The NAS will...

I love my Uniti Serve and have ripped some 2,000+ CLASSICAL CDs. But perhaps 2-300 come up as "unknown" - no fault of the hardware of course! But so many that do turn up in the index have glaring errors such as interchanging Composer and Performer, getting genre completely wrong (since when was "baroque" the same as "jazz"? And since so much classical is played (at least at my place) as the album, searching by track is the only search tool available, it's little help. Yes, I know that "Pop...

Well something has gone belly up so I need some help. I have an original naim uniti, with latest update although not the latest board which allows tidal and all that jazz. For the most part over the years its been pretty solid, occasional drops of internet radio but always rock solid on upnp network audio. Over the past few months, radio has become piss poor. I only really listen to radio 4 and can pretty much set my clock to the drop outs I will experience. But very recently UPNP has gone...

Qobuz have announced that from May, they will offer a Hi Res service with streaming at up to 96/24, to be known as Sublime +. Up until now, subscribers such as myself to 'ordinary' Sublime have only been able to stream Hi Res where they have already bought the Hi Res version of the album - frankly not much use. This is exactly the sort of service I have been waiting for - initially 60,000 albums available. It'll be expensive, but may well be worth it. It makes me regret even more Naim's...

Its been a while since this subject was discussed, but with the rise of various forms & claimed SQ benefits of ethernet isolation; what's the latest opinions from users of the non-powered passive devices intended for the audio market such as Giso DS & GB, Acoustic Revive RLI-1, SOtM iSO-CAT6, etc., plus any of the medical grade isolators.

Hi all, I have read that this is due to a setting on my upnp server, but I'm at wits end, I'm able to get the app to display artwork at the file level, but when i'm browsing the root folder one level up, I can't get it to display artwork on the folder itself. Any help would be much appreciated! I'm using a Synology NAS, running DSM 5.0 - 4493 Update 4. Thank you!

Hi everyone, I hope to get my Unitiqute 2 by the end of April and have some questions about LAN and the cables it involves. Is it beneficial to have a switch nearby the Unitiqute with only router, my NAS holding music and Unitiqute attached. I could use fairly short LAN cables that way. Will any good quality CAT6 cable be sufficient or would a Chord C-Stream make make difference? Will using a linear power supply for the switch be usefull? Is the Chord Clearway a decent cable to connect my...

Hi, I've discovered that, as an Amazon Prime subscriber, I have access to the Amazon Music streaming service which can be quite useful when we want to listen to something we don't have in our collection. We can do this easily with our Qb by pairing a mobile device to the Qb using Bluetooth. However, we also have a pre-Bluetooth UnitiQute 2 in another part of the house where this would be useful. I understand that Amazon being Amazon, they won't support Google Cast, so a ChromeCast Audio...

At the moment I play Apple Music using a QED Performance Graphite cable to connect the optical out on a MacBook Pro to my SU. Sound quality is actually not bad - I slightly prefer it to Spotify (using Spotify Connect) as it sound slightly warmer to my ageing ears. I see some people use an Airport Express connected to their Naim Streamers, but how would the sound compare to the Macbook optical out route? At the moment, the only really drawback in terms of usage is that I have to use my...

Hi, So last November I made the jump from a low-end audio setup consisting of Cambridge Audio Azur 640A, Mordaunt Short Mezzo 2's and an Arcam rDAC to the following: Naim Nait 5Si Audiolab MDAC+ DynAudio Emit M20's Premium speaker cable Chord Interconnect (Entry level one, working to replace this) All I can say is wow, chuffed to bits with the setup and still amazes me everytime I sit down for a listening session. I have 2 upgrades on the backburner; I want the Naim Hi-Line interconnect...

I need an artwork solution. I am now using the unitiserve as a server to the SIMAUDIO MOON DAC and I am inheriting all this beautiful music with missing cover art. The more files I add the more artwork disappears, even the old artwork is beginning to disappear. For a while I left the Unitiserve and used DBPowerAmp Asset, and the artwork restored itself. I even converted all my Naim ripped files to flac, and their covers where copied down and renamed folder.jpg. However now I found that the...
